WHERE: The Fountain, the Southern Inn, the Library

for klaus, the fountain

It's like floating, she thinks, musing on her sense of self this last hundred years. Without a physical body you're aware of the world around you, but you can't interact with it. You can sense sounds you can't hear, you know that temperature exists but you don't feel it. And if you open your eyes the world looks different than it should.

But it definitely doesn't look blank, bluish white and strangely distant. And your lungs don't exist, so they definitely don't burn with the need for air. Instinct carries her to the surface, exploding into a world that's very physical and very real. She treads water in her green scrubs, letting out a cough or two, too stunned by shock and confusion to do much else for a time.

ota, the southern inn

Zelda takes the first unoccupied room she finds, changes into dry green scrubs and finger-combs her hair again before venturing out into the common room and kitchen. It's very different than what she's used to, and she approaches it all with the caution of one who knows she isn't supposed to touch. Royalty isn't really meant to play around in the kitchen or wander curiously through a sitting room, and it definitely isn't meant to run fingers over every surface to remind herself what it all feels like.

Her restraint means that she's hyper-aware of everyone who enters the room, and she greets them all with a shy "hello."

ota, the library

The library at the schoolhouse is where Zelda knows she's going to spend a great deal of time. She's nothing short of delighted as she practically dances from shelf to shelf. There's so much knowledge here, and she has completely unfettered access to all of it. She pulls down books on the most common tasks and the most difficult sciences: basket weaving, soap making, astronomy, chemistry, everything she hasn't been allowed to study in any detail. She hardly notices anyone else there, and is liable to bump into somebody.

In Tony’s absence, Brigitte steps up her presence at the forge even more and is trying to keep the place running in some kind of order. She still lives at the inn and can be found there for communal meals and relaxing in the evenings, though she’s starting to doze off in the common room too now — pot, kettle, black. She’s spending more time in the library, reading up on the local flora, brushing up on her notes from Bev’s first aid classes. Learning all the little things that she never paid much attention to before: the teas which can ease headaches, others which ease cramps or nausea. It’s the little things.

[ WILDCARD: pretty much anywhere’s fair game! she goes jogging in the mornings, and can be sporadically found in the infirmary/dojo too, though less often now. ]

FOUNTAIN - FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED MAINE
Turning into crystal is the strangest thing to be familiar with, but this is the second time it's happened to Vanille. This time, though, she and Fang had wanted it. They had been through so much together with their Cocoon family that when the time came, when they really did destroy Orphan, they realized that they had another gift to give the people of Cocoon. Despair wasn't the only way to become Ragnarok and the truth was, they were always better acting together than separate.

So Fang and Vanille had willingly become Ragnarok, but instead of destroying Cocoon, they saved it. They reinforced some of Cocoon's outer shell and sucked up all of the crystal dust that had fallen onto Gran Pulse, creating a strong crystal pillar out of it to hold Cocoon in place. That was as much as they could do and now they were part of the crystal pillar, part of the only thing holding Cocoon up in the sky. There they would stay, for as long as the crystal pillar survived.

The sensation of being crystal isn't as wet as she feels now. Something is different. She flexes her hands, something she shouldn't have been able to do at all, given that she'd been holding Fang's hands in the pillar. Frowning, she finally pries her eyes open, shocked at the sight of water around her. Light shines from above, so that is where she goes, kicking with all of her might until she finally breaks the surface of the water. She coughs once she's up, leaning her arms on the stone wall, but not yet far enough to have her head over the edge. She still has to cough up some water from her lungs and come to terms with the fact that she isn't a crystal anymore and what that might mean.

SOUTH VILLAGE INN - OTA
Once she has been fished out of the water, she finds herself a place in the Inn, only really wanting to warm up and dry off properly before she makes her way back to the house. She's grabbed a spare blanket or something like one and is at least wrapped up in it by now. At some point, she has a lot she will need to process. True to form, though, she's pushing a lot of that aside for later. She might be sitting by the fire, but part of the reason she stayed in the Inn for a while is to see if she can find anyone she knows. Several people deserve to hear something about what happened to her and if she can find familiar faces, all the better.

Anyone who comes by is greeted with a smile at least. "You can sit by the fire with me, if you want. There's plenty of room."

House 38 - OTA
Eventually, she makes her way back to the house she has been sharing with Phryne and Ashley. Her head hurts, her heart is heavy, and she's only partially coping with everything that happened back on Cocoon. Her first stop is to say hello to the animals outside in their pen. She hugs each of the larger animals, staying outside long enough to notice or be noticed by anyone walking by. Passerby will receive a wave from her, especially if she knows them. Then she makes her way inside to try to find her housemates and the dogs. Raine and Bhakti announce her arrival and she spends some time cuddling and loving on both of them.

"You didn't miss me, did you?" she teases them, letting both of them lick her face and hands as much as they want. "I hope you were good while I was gone."

WHO: Leonardo da Vinci
WHERE: Various places
WHEN: Through March 21st, powers from 13th-20th
OPEN TO: OTA, DID YOU ASK FOR A WEAPON, COME TO HIM
WARNINGS: Nothing for now, will update if necessary!

March 1st-21st, Weapons and Such!

Leonardo will have quietly informed people who requested weapons of him that they are done through March! The Assassins in particular will be privately reached out to about the hidden blades and told to come pick them up. After those particular requests are fulfilled, Leonardo will put a little wooden sword out front of the forge pointing inside, and put it out there in the public knowledge that blades can be found inside.

His forge is fairly scattered as Leonardo himself is always working on about ten projects at the same time. There's wood stockpiled along with his steel and iron, and there's a row of a few knives and a few swords to the side. The artist is almost always there, day and night, or he is out front finishing up the boat to the bunker pod. It's a rather simple looking place for now, outside of flowers that have been drawn in charcoal on the wall.

[you can assume that your character requested something before and wants to pick it up now, or you can just IC from now on assume that your character has the item they want!]

March 13th-20th, Powers Abound

Leonardo cannot help his curiosity when he realizes there are powers that people can just pick up. As someone who has only recently gotten comfortable with his own, he's fascinated. He spends a great deal of time thinking about what he wants, and resolves to try all of them eventually. For now though, he goes with what he's been longing for: warmth! Certain that it is too dangerous to try them in the bunker, he travels back to the village and goes a safe distance away to test them out.

The first two days are not great. He can't seem to get the fire to stop being on his fingertips, and he accidentally shoots fire near a tree, but it doesn't set fire, which is good as he would start to panic. Instead it hits rocks, so phew. As the week progresses he gains more control of it and can be seen playfully making patterns in the sky with the flames, especially late at night where he can be seen like a beacon,

[She'd message Bruce privately the day before to tell him about this very thing plus show him what she and Loki had brought back from their little surprise vacation, but it's taken a day before she'd felt up to anything else, and she's still not exactly feeling up to much.]

For those of you who didn't already know, Betty Ross is gone.

[network, voice, private to Beverly]

I think I might have done some damage while we were out in the woods. Mind stopping by to take a look? I don't want to tell Bruce until I know what's wrong, he'll make a bigger deal out of it than I want.

[The map is a real find. She'd spent half the day before borrowing some of Bruce's precious paper to make her own copy before taking it out to the South Village Inn, but she's finally here, and the map is spread over one of the tables in the front room, one edge weighted down with the case and the other corners with empty glasses. The video opens on the carefully framed map itself, and Nat's voice narrates as she points out key locations.]

Think we're finally getting a birds-eye view of this place. We're here, and here's the ruins with the fever snakes; here's the shrine, and the southern beach I got to tour the last time this place decided to send me on an adventure. Loki and I were up here--there's ruins of an old settlement housed inside a bunch of scuttled ships on the rocks here, where we found this map.

But I think you'll all notice the biggest thing here: there's a second island to the northeast, here. [She taps the map, then turns the camera to face herself. She looks tired, but there's a glow to her green eyes that speaks to an inner purpose.]

Maybe we've been looking for our hosts in the wrong places. I'm leaving the map here in the South Village Inn front room, with the records. I've made a rough copy, but someone with a better hand should probably make a second.

[Spam, open:]

Nat remains in the front room of the Inn the rest of the day with the map, refining her smaller version and making some rough dimensional calculations. She's borrowed a spool of thread from the storeroom and roughly divided the map into a grid, trying to get a feel for the size of the space, and is available if anyone wants to come talk business.

Over the course of the next week and change, you can find her in the bunker, working away at the functioning consoles, trying to find answers with renewed purpose, or taking long soaks in the hot springs, where she'll be amenable to company of most kinds. Some nights might find her sitting out on the porch of #40 wrapped in a blanket, a tawny peacat draped over her lap and rumbling loud enough to be heard on the road. She won't be working out in the dojo for the next short while, doctor's orders, but she does stop by every few days to see if Nida needs a hand with anything, or if any of the regulars are there to chat.

Routine

As is becoming habit, once Anne gets back to her house after a week of collecting anti-gravity feathers, camping, and fighting off nature with Reeve, she takes a hot bath, spends the time not thinking or doing anything, and spends the evening knitting and relaxing with a glass of wine. The following day she will collect her cat Lynn from Foggy and catch up about life in the Village while she was away.

Anne believes in keeping a steady routine, so it's not long after she's back that she's slipping into her old habits as if she hadn't just spent a week away; morning jog around the South Village, meals at the Inn, researching at the library. It's a chance to root herself in something familiar, even if she's had to craft it here in the world away from home.

She does leave a message on the Network about having a room available, in case anyone wanted a change of scenery. Of her three bedroom house, one was ft for herself and the other a craft space to hold supplies and extra chairs, which left one room open and - might as well see if anyone else would care to inhabit it. She's invited anyone who's interested to come by, take a look, and meet her unofficial fuzzy roommate Lynn who will absolutely judge them.

Fiber Initiative

As the fiber hub, Anne's house is open to anyone who wants to gather to work on various projects, or if they've got a question about a technique or looking for suppliers. Anne might not have what they need on hand, but she'll know where to send them. Additionally, if anyone just wants a place to sit, knit, and shoot the breeze, her living room is open and available and she will happily join for conversation as she works on her own projects.

Or just come by to play with her cat.

March 7-17

[There are no plans for Anne specifically for TT2, but she will be more than happy to join in to help anyone else. Hit me up if you want to join her in a bug battle!]

The first thing Steph does when she gets home is take a long, hot shower. Definitely top priority. The second thing she does is head down into the bunker. She’s heard about people using the vending machine and nothing terrible seemed to happen as a result. She deserves a treat, she figures, and she knows exactly what power she wants.

She waits until she’s out in the open again to try it out, and isn’t disappointed. She’s small, yes, but whatever she is, she has wings.

HOUSES

established cr

One of the advantages to being small is that you attract less attention. The same holds true for being a bird. As a robin she can glide into her friend’s houses, moving quickly and then staying still to be sure she wasn’t noticed. From there she has all sorts of fun options. She can perch on top of refrigerators, swoop down and startle someone, or steal food when they aren’t looking. A little more difficult is moving small objects around, but that’s just as fun.

Her favorite, though, is waiting until the person is distracted and landing in their hair. With hollow bones and proper timing they might never notice she’s there.

WOODS

OTA

Being a bird isn't all sunshine and rainbows, of course, and not just because it's early March. Her first real, open-air flight comes to an inelegant end as, failing to out-maneuver a hawk, she changes suddenly back to human shape to foil the poor creature.

She falls with a yelp into the foliage below.

VILLAGES

OTA

When she tires of flying and trolling her friends (which takes a good while, to be sure) Steph decides to wander around both villages, gaining an appreciation of what everything looks like when you're a small handful of inches tall. She also takes the opportunity to unnerve people as much as possible.

Getting some food from the inn? Did you notice that there's a bird on top of the fridge, or the ceiling lamp in the common area?

Sitting outside to soak up what sun there is? Don't look now, but a bird's joined you on the bench, and it looks like it's bird-watching too.

Or maybe you're just going about your business, in the dojo, one of the farms, even the library. Wherever you are, a small bird has taken great interest in your doings.

7 had seen how Eddie and Venom were acting strange, had seen mentions on the network that there was something wrong with the devices for some people. She'd chosen to hide out and lay low, waiting for it to pass. She'd never been confronted with this sort of issue before; to think you know some, know about how they're going to react, and then for whatever reason they start behaving totally differently. She'd decided it was better to observe (as was usually the case when dealing with emotional dilemmas).

She maintained her scheduled patrol runs, and still spent the night at the house, but otherwise she's taken to lurking on roofs until it got too cold, and then hanging out at the Inn by the fire. She was perfectly prepared to maintain this routine until things returned to normal, but then one day her device had beeped, and then the display had glitched and the device itself had shifted from Navy Blue to Yellow.

"Huh, that's ... odd." She felt she should be more concerned with this change, especially considering what she's already heard about Eddie and the others, but she'd been on her way to the Inn for a meal and was suddenly just as curious to see what the crowd was up to, as well as grabbing something to eat.

She slams the door open with a grin, pausing a moment to see how many people noticed her entrance, then walking in with a word and a greeting for anyone who happens to catch her attention. Does she know you? She might punch your arm ... affectionately so, but still ...

For the next twenty-four hours she's going to be a lot less soft-spoken.

After Leonardo's declaration on his wrist band, he got straight to work in the smithery. It would take time to change his ingots into something workable, and he had many long days and late nights ahead of him, but he was very happy about it. He started on Ezio's hidden blade, of course, always his first priority, the mechanism not difficult to put together with all the proper supplies. But then there was the steady clang when he started on blades. He can be found in his forge so if anyone requested an item from, they can swing by to give direction or ask questions.

He also occasionally remembers to take breaks from the forge only to enjoy the sunlight as he works on patching up a boat he identified as the best possibility for the pod. He can be found out back of house of house 26 doing that

Color Change, February 16th-23rd

Leonardo wakes up on February 16th feeling unburdened by some of the anxieties he'd be living with. He felt good, actually, and at first he chalks it up to certain things happening most recently, but eventually he can sense this particular boldness is something else. When he notices his wristband changed its lovely violet to a vivid red, and remembers people speaking of this on the network, he almost gets concerned. And then he doesn't actually end up caring, because really, it is what it is. So be it.

It is not overly noticeable at first that he's changed, but he does find himself more honest, feeling less like he has to reconsider everything he does. He can be found eating at the inn, walking through the greenhouse, lounging in the hot springs, and generally walking around with his head held high and a sharpened focus in blue eyes.

Anne had gotten the box earlier in the week, and while there were not any actual instructions included, it was pretty clear what the items were intended for. Name tags, cards, the candies, hell - a whole supply of contraceptives - the only logical conclusion was some sort of dating event. Apropos as they were just a day over her world's Valentine's Day, to boot. She appreciated the distraction putting together something like this would provide.

One additional request needed to be made, considering her idea on formatting the evening, and that was for a brass bell from Tony's forge.

She arrives at the Inn early to set up; moving tables aside and setting it up for a couple rows of two-person seating, and setting out mugs on each table full of conversation hearts. She pulls one table up by the front where she gathers sign-in materials; name tags, metallic sharpies, little info cards and pens ... she also gets two large bowls and fills them with the condoms and diaphragms; might as well make them accessible.

The index cards she fills out with questions that she thinks will be relevant, puts an announcement, and fusses with a few last minute touches.

i. how you have fallen from heaven, morning star

The texts always talk about how he fell.

No, never mind them, he didn't fall. Dear old Dad punted him right in the arse until he fell out of heaven, condemned to rule hell -- not to mention, keep tabs on his own mother, because no one does family drama like those in charge of all creation. So, there has never been any falling to contend with. The texts also have never talked about drowning, though there were a few parties in Los Angeles with a few too many drugs and glitzy pools that did get close.

Hauling himself out of a fountain, soaking wet, he begins to wonder what new punishment he's meant to be enduring. "For helping Cain, is it?" he shouts, skywards, when he finally clears the last crest of the fountain, stumbling to his feet. He feels a heavy weight on his back and assumes it to be his wings until he looks and finds not soaked feathers, but a soaked satchel.

It's not even designer, just some awful knockoff with a strange new symbol. Trudging forward to the first building he sees, he dumps the bag and stares down at himself, clad in awful yellow fabric. "Oh, now this is punishment, indeed," he mutters, beginning to strip it off slowly, enjoying the wet slop as it hits the ground. He's been nude in so many public places that it doesn't even occur to him that he shouldn't be doing this with so many witnesses around, milling here and there.

Purgatory, perhaps?

Certainly not Hell. This is far from the loop he'd go through. "Amenadiel, if you're the one behind this," he calls upstairs, trying not to let his worry that Dad's gone and dumped him somewhere to keep him out of the way. "Maze?" he tries, with far more hope. "Dr. Linda?" seems a far-fetched attempt, but as he starts to pull down his trousers, only his underpants standing between him and impropriety, he's running out of options.

ii. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds

He's having performance issues.

This has happened before, but in his defense, he'd been woozy from being drugged, there were multiples involved, and he still managed to turn in a six out of ten performance. Admittedly, for him, that is a performance issue, but this is far more concerning. He's been standing in a clearing and trying to summon his wings for an hour, now, with no success.

It may appear funny, him straining and his face contorting, but the panic is soon setting in. For a man that kept lopping them off with a demon blade, it's ironic to find himself wanting them back so badly, now. No wings, no devil face, and he needs a human volunteer. He can live without the first two, but he's dreading the implication of being without.

Suddenly, he's beginning to wonder if Dad snapped and finally did something to strip Lucifer of all his powers, rendering him utterly mortal not just around the Detective, but all humanity. Is he mortal? It's impossible to imagine, the devil a normal Joe Schmoe, which is why Lucifer needs someone wholly uncomplicated to work his tricks on.

He's so out of sorts that he can't even suss them out any longer, so when he gives up on the wings, he gestures for the next passer-by to come to him. "Yes! You, I'm talking to you," he insists impatiently. "Don't dawdle, come over here, I have something to ask you."

iii. resist the devil

Once he finds himself the helpful little package of proper clothes waiting for him, Lucifer sheds his yellow skin by shredding it and burning it in a bonfire, puts on a proper suit, and begins his explorations of this strange new land. It's a funny place, mainly in that Lucifer can't seem to figure out why he's been sent here. Though, he can guess. You don't exactly go against your Dad's first grounding and expect to walk out with no consequences. In some small way, he's relieved that it's only him and not the Detective or Dr. Linda or any of the other humans around him.

He comes to a stop in his exploration when something crosses the path in front of him, something he knows.

"Oh, hello there," he says, approaching the creature.

It's a skunk. Only, it's rather oddly coloured to be one. Maybe he's going to run into Noah in this place instead of Cain or any of his siblings, but seeing an animal he knows cheers him up. Maybe this is just Dad having a second child, so to speak, filling it with new creations. Though, if that's the case, tweaking only a bit of fur.

He's not saying that the second is always worst, but, well, he was God's favourite after all. Amenadiel replacing him in that regard just goes to show that sometimes second-best never beats out the first.

Crouching down, getting right in its little face, Lucifer smirks at it. "Come, now, let's see, you're not so bad," he says, aware of the potential danger to his clothes of reeking, but it's the first animal he's seen in the wild that he actually knows, so there's a momentary lapse in judgment. One, unfortunately, that comes back to bite him, when the skunk turns and does precisely what skunks do. What skunks don't do, though, is render someone dazed and unconscious, which Lucifer finds himself fighting a losing battle with consciousness.

Pointing at the skunk, awed, he gets out, "Did you...?" before he hits the ground, snoring peacefully.

Five minutes later, he rises. It's not just him getting up either, because other parts of him feel like he's just done a wonderful combination of Viagra and cocaine, like that incredible party in Vegas in '06. Eyes bright, he laughs and stares at his new skunk friend, who's still grazing nearby.

"Well done," he praises, rising to his feet with a newly determined look in his eye. Maybe he could get to like it here after all.

February 5th-10th

The aftermath of reliving one of her worst moments stays on her like a cloud overhanging her usual sunny disposition. Rinoa was quiet most of the walk back, staying with the others and not talking about what happened even when pressed. When she did get back, she crashed in her room for two days snuggling with Julia ... without her gloves for once. It was a temporary reprieve.

She's not sleeping and there are circles under her eyes, but there's still fire in them, and Rinoa likes to keep busy. She's been convinced to jog more, which she can be seen attempting to do in the morning, and she helps out at the inn cleaning, and she can be seen on her porch knitting on some of the nicer weather days.

February 11th - Color Change

Rinoa is on her way to the schoolhouse when her device makes a sudden beep. She pauses right in her spot, staring at it, because the last time this happened she saw a glimpse of what was coming. Dread wallows in her stomach, and it oddly glitches out, goes blue, and then abruptly comes back to life.

Confused, she glances up and around, and by the time she looks down, the strangest thing has happened. Her once light gray band is now red, and she scrunches up her face at it. "What in the world ...."

Feb 12th-20th - Red Rinoa!

After the color change happens, it takes her at least a day to realize it's not the color only that's changed. In some ways, it's good. Her head isn't hanging, there isn't a weight on her shoulders. She's actually walking around confidently, moving with purpose. She can be seen punching the air/working out at the dojo, exploring the north village, and even daring to go skinny dipping in the hot springs for the first time.

WHERE: Southwest of the South Village
WHEN: Feb 6
OPEN TO: OTA
WARNINGS: Probably some Thedosian cursing.

There were many things Alistair was. An idiot, according to quite a few. A bastard, according to quite a lot more. Few credited him with determination, and maybe that was true once. Years of living at the edge of being caught and killed, though, had kept him literally and figuratively on his toes, and his pursuit of knowledge about Corypheus? He had been determined to see it through.

And that was why, even though it was damned cold and he could feel snow coming in the air, he had trekked out into the woods and, armed with only an axe, had brought in a few trees. Not big ones - not like he'd prefer - but ones he'd found in overcrowded patches in the woods that would never grow bigger with the canopy as thick as it was. One by one, he'd hauled them to the southwestern edge of the village and had begun work once he'd gathered them there. He hacked off branches, the smaller of which would make good firewood and kindling, the larger of which could actually do well for smaller projects. He already had a mental list. He could do... enough with the axe. Not a great amount, but enough. Enough to build a few sawhorses, which would be absolutely necessary, and then to start work on some carts, which would be just as needful as the sawhorses. Provided he could find someone better at marking circles than him, anyway.

He'd already hung his coat on a branch that had a smaller, strong branch sticking up - his swinging the axe was making him sweat, and he knew that when it came time to stop, he'd have to go in quickly to keep from getting sick. But as it was, there he stood, with one log already nicely shaped, a pile of brush nearby, as he worked at hacking branches off the next, a quiet song keeping time with every axe swing.
