"It's like a cold slap of dread that stops you in your tracks," he explains, teeth gritting as he tears his gaze away from the other man's. "Your heart pounds, your hair stands on end, sometimes you sweat. And the whole time you just know something's close. Something bad." He'd come to rely on that feeling, too. He had plenty of reasons to be paranoid, and maybe his ability is just an extension of that in the end. Still, it might be the only sense of vindication this place had ever given him so he couldn't exactly complain. "Yeah," is all he says to the rest, licking his lips and looking away. He's sure they're going to do the falling apart when they get back to the Villages anyway.

"Sounds useful. Perhaps a little unpleasant--" a little bit like a small anxiety attack, each time, "but incredibly useful." Reyes' own paranoia is more calculated, less instinctive, but navy blue could be cousin to that teal power, in a way.

He's pocketed the knife by now, and resumed leaning on that makeshift walking stick, more to have something to do with his hands than anything else. When the other man's gaze slides away, the smuggler considers. He's probably got better things to be doing than babysitting this hapless spaceman. "Thank you again for the supplies. I'm Reyes, by the way."

He shrugs. It's more useful than not and he's come to appreciate the extra help, even for an already paranoid guy who's generally good at seeing things coming.
