Bruce pulls back too and chuckles at the thwap, wiping at his eyes to brush the tears away. He knew there were so many traumatic things they could have seen from him. There was no end of bad moments in his past to show, but this was the most recent, so there's that. And the worst for the entire world without question.

He sighs and crosses his arms against his chest like a self-hug, it's a soothing gesture he uses a lot for himself. "It just happened, before I came here. It's been fresh in my mind but watching it again reminds me of some details. It was less vivid and detailed in memory." And very vivid and detailed in reality. "At that time too, we thought Tony was dead, he was taken out into space. It really felt like everything was broken all at once. Even with half of us alive, it'll never be okay again."

Frank nods slowly, not sure where to even start with something like that. He thinks, maybe, it isn't so different from him being separated from all the people in Reims. Not knowing if they're safe - but watching your family turn to dust? It's something he can sympathize with, too. Even if his own scene had been more physically gory.

"There was a boy here, Peter. He told us about this, and a villain called Thanos."

"Yeah, Peter Parker. I didn't know him, he was a protege of a kind to Tony while I was gone." So much happened in those years. Bruce only met Peter briefly, but he was such a sweet kid. He deserved better than what happened, everyone did. "They were in space when it happened, and Peter turned to dust too. Tony still hasn't recovered from that, I think he looked at him like a surrogate son." And even a surrogate parent couldn't handle the loss of a child well. Tony especially, with his many family issues and his guilt complex.

"I don't know if we'll ever be able to fix it, or if we can beat him. He was so powerful. His army, his generals, him, they all felt more like professionals and we were research assistants or undergrads in comparison." Of course he'd see the comparison in academia terms.

"Kamala was friends with him here." So Frank knows that part of the story at least. He worries his lip, thinking of the first time he met Peter and how he'd scared the crap out of him. That feels like so long ago now— well, it was seven months ago, wasn't it? "But if anyone can do it, it's you guys." Hell, if he's not dust himself maybe Bruce should look him up. Odds are he's not busy, or so he imagines.

"I hope so, but it would be great if our world had as many superheroes as Kamala's does. It sounds like they basically have armies of superheroes, when it's barely in the double digits for us." They had armies, yes, but superhero armies, no, and how were they supposed to deal with a huge powerful force like that? "If we could borrow hers, we would. As it is, we'll just have to do our best with what we have."

He rubs a hand on Frank's arm affectionately, feeling like he was allowed that now, under special situations like this. "We should figure out where we are. I think we're done with whatever experiment the memory was."
