Wow. He comes back not once but several times, like they're on some kind of rinse and repeat setting. That's genuinely startling for Bruce. Sometimes their opponents show up again (hello, Loki), but most of the time when it's done it's done. Or maybe this is what they have to look forward to some day.

"We have a very small amount of people. That army at Wakanda is the most we've ever had on our side." And most of them were just extraordinary warriors without powers. "For a long time it was just me, Tony, Nat, Clint, Thor, and Steve. That was the team. Wanda, Vision, Sam and Rhodey joined after I left, but Thor and Clint traded out, so the team is never really big." Bruce shrugs. "There aren't many superheroes, and no mutants as far as I'm aware. It would be great if I was very, very wrong about that."

Maybe some shocking new team would appear and save the day. Bruce was 100% for that.

"You could be. Mutants hid for a really long time because they were worried the world would hate and oppress them. Honestly? They weren't wrong." Bruce already knows the whys on that one. Their world loves powered people just not those powered people. It's a gross stance to take. Kamala is ashamed of everyone who feels that way.

"Stop me if this sounds awful, but it sounds like you guys were super underpowered. Wakanda is an amazing place with the smartest and strongest people on Earth without abilities, but that's not an army that can beat someone like Thanos." She thinks she knows what they need. While maybe it's not her place to explain to him what to do? She really cared for Peter. She doesn't want his killer running around someone else's galaxy forever. "Also stop me if this sounds crazy, but if when we get out of this? I think we need to borrow you some of our guys. I'm sorry, but you guys are really outmatched. If there's no Carol Danvers there? We should get you ours and whatever space hero is taking our phone calls this week. Wolverine kind of owes me for saving one of his students so I can make puppy eyes at him until he can pull some strings for you guys. If that's okay."

"I know they aren't wrong, but you'd think we would have heard about metas, even accidentally." He's saying that having no idea of Phil Coulson's team and the Inhumans they're aware of. Bruce shakes his head. "That was all the help we had, no one else was unfortunately coming out of the woodwork." If they had more help, they would've taken it.

Bruce doesn't think it sounds awful, and he nods in agreement with her. "We were absolutely outmatched. It wasn't even just Thanos. He had an army of aliens and his super powered ... kids? Maybe. I think one of them said child of Thanos. So it was his army, his generals or kids, and then him. And what you saw was basically what we had." So yeah. Outmatched. "We'd always managed before at the nick of time, but this was universal, not just earth." So it was a higher level of bad guy. Really, they were always screwed. "I'd take any of your world's people ready to help, Kamala, but I'm not sure we are going to be able to visit other worlds and help each other after this."

Kamala looks conflicted on whether to contradict him. He is too wrong not to from her perspective. She really ought to plant this seed now to help them later. "Not really? Seriously most our secret races outed themselves in the last couple of decades and existed like hundreds of years before then. What I am didn't even become widely known until I woke up. People really are so scared they don't out themselves until the last possible minute."

Herself included. Kamala crosses her arms and decides to let the rest go. "We'll have to agree to disagree, but I won't hold it against you when we both have to line up for Captain Marvel's autograph. You can get the spot behind me." She smiles and offers a v-sign with her fingers.

"I hope you're right. We could use the help." Of course if they actually turned out to be super powered problems, it might not be so much help, but that was a problem for the future. Bruce felt like they could use all hands on deck, so maybe this would open the door to more metas coming forward. He just smiles at her, because he does hope she's right and he's wrong. It'd be much better for everyone.
