Kamala is back to heavy breathing and tears by the time he grabs her arm. It does steady her. She finally stops swinging at him. There's no apologies this time. She's still furious. She stares up at him as she is working out how to respond to that without more hitting. It doesn't take too long thankfully.

"And that's it? No more creepy secrets I should know about? Because I'm not going to keep getting dragged here so some weirdo can exposure all the stuff you did behind my back again! Just get it over with already!"

When she calms, or at least bottles the rage up inside, Frank drops her arm and decides that... yeah, it's about time for the whole truth. She will eventually understand why there was no way in hell he could tell her back in Reims. It was a system for everyone's safety that no one person know too much, except Jessica, of course. She was the mastermind, after all. That unfortunately became the albatross around her neck, yet again, no matter how much he wanted her to be able to pass the buck anywhere else.

"I was sick because of a vaccine we made, to innoculate against Kilgrave's effects. It worked, Kamala, all that shit... I'm not gonna say it was worth it. A lot of people got hurt, including me, yeah, but I can take it. I get hurt a lot. You know that, I know you know that. It made sense to send me out there, and it made sense to test some crazy shit on me. And it all paid off. We were gonna protect everyone from him. We were gonna lock him up. That's it, now you know it all."

It's funny to listen to in some ways. She always knew things were happening behind the scenes. Kamala just never knew how it all fit together. She could only see the pieces. It clicks in her brain within seconds. It's so painfully obvious that she hates herself for not knowing it before. Her eyes narrow at him. "Yeah it makes a ton of sense to sacrifice you over and over again to beat a bad guy." It makes a sick amount of sense. She's a breath away from saying she hates it. She hates him. She hates Jessica too.

Kamala holds it in because she asked for the truth. He did give it to her. She's eerily calm as she continues. "You know you'd be singing a way different tune if I was telling you it was okay I died and got hurt a bunch of times. I mean I heal, right? You can't even tell anything has ever happened to me so what does it matter? I can take it." She wants to be clear for the record how unbelievably messed up this is. This is how he sounds to her.

She turns that hot gaze away from him and announces bitterly, "Let's go home."

He knows that's how it sounds to her, but he's not a sixteen-year-old girl. She might be a hero, but she'd never done the fucked up things he has. It isn't just about "deserving" something, but he's out of words, and they're out of time. Frank hangs his head.

"Yeah. Okay, sweetheart."
