Oh he's learned a lot of things. All very hard lessons. The kind you don't come back from under normal circumstances. "We touched on it. It's... difficult." Putting it mildly. "What you saw wasn't the worst of it." It only escalated from there. Apologies were meaningless in the face of what he'd done, but he had tried. Without expectation that it would really mean anything. Had to earn that forgiveness. He was trying, one day at a time.

There was a lot of trauma and Seifer wasn't yet ready to face it. Much less embrace the possibility that he had been more influenced than he'd understood.

A huffed laugh. "What, you're lookin' out for me now?" That's... surprising. "Why?" Because he expects no one to care. It's weird for him that people do. Sorry Anne he's a bit of a mess.

Fortunately, Anne has had experiences with messes.

"You're a friend, Seifer, and if you do something stupid here I'll call you out on it, but that doesn't mean you can't have someone in your corner. Especially if you're trying to make amends."

There's something about this conversation that's tickling her in the back of her brain, that if she can be so adamant about someone getting a second chances .... nope, she doesn't let herself finish that thought.

"- and is it so surprising to have someone look out for you?"

Perhaps she could lend her expertise to the teenagers still trying to learn how to be people.

"That's reasonable, I can deal with that," Once upon a time he took criticism very poorly... alright he still kind of did. But he'd been knocked down several pegs and honestly? If it were something he was genuinely wrong for he could suck it up and accept he did it badly. This last thing? Hyne had he screwed up. Big time. There's a faint smile there, it's a little rueful and unsure, but it's there. "Thanks. Can't say I've had much of that before." It was new, honestly, people giving a shit.

He huffs, offering a faint shrug. "Yeah. It is." It used to be just him and his posse. Very few would bat an eye, did bat an eye when they'd thought he'd died. It's just the way things were.

For Seifer, absolutely.

"Well, you better get used to it then. I won't be your mother and tell you to brush your teeth or pick up after yourself, but -- I'll probably check in now and again."

And be there if he ever needs advice, or a place to vent. She's been getting to know him from the moment he sulked his way into the first Stitch & Bitch, and she feels invested in his personal growth.

"Speaking of which ... how are you feeling?" It's still fresh, it hasn't been that long, but hopefully talking about it helped at least a little.

He could definitely use the help.

The only "mother" he can even kind of remember sent him off to the military academy she built, then was later used to turn him into a mindless weapon. In fact, Anne just saw her. He'd rather she not try to be a mother at him, only bad associations there. "I wouldn't know what to do with that anyway." He's perfectly capable of cleaning up after himself and brushing his teeth on his own anyway.

Backup from so many unexpected sources, though? That's entirely new. Really doesn't know what to make of it all. As she's likely guessed from some of those sessions where he just seems completely mystified by the idea of anyone giving a shit about someone they barely know.

"Eh," He offers a faint shrug. "Numb?" That's about all he can definitively offer right now. "You get used to the idea of dying as a cadet. Still somethin' to watch it happen." He thinks that's what happened there now. Given the way it ended.
