She's fairly certain there's no version of Kamala, of Ms. Marvel, back where and when she's from. Something like that, teen heroes--besides Peter, of course, and oh, the words she'd had about that--would have made more news. Would have pinged Fury's radar at the very least. But it's not a bad urge. The drive to help people, instead of hurt. She's the last person to tell someone they're too young to do what feels right in their heart, and Kamala's got a good one. She knows that even without much interaction.

"That'd make sense. Worthy by Asgardian warrior standards isn't my cup of tea either," she says, still smiling. "Like you saw there. But you don't need to be a warrior like that to be strong. Is that what you do back home? Student by day, hero by night? It's not an easy life to live."

Kamala nods. That's her life. She totally is pulling a fighting evil by moonlight thing. "Pretty much. Things just got really out of control since I got my powers. I don't know if the world got crazier or I just started to notice what was happening around me." She thinks it's both. She wasn't the only one who got her powers that day. A lot of lives were changed forever. That's played a big part in the road ahead for her.

She'd be remiss if she didn't point this out. Natasha makes it look easy on the videos Kamala has seen of her other self. Kam knows now how complicated the reality is. She has a healing factor and there are still some days she needs to ice her whole body because she can't work up the energy to heal every part of herself. What must it be like without one? "I bet being a superspy isn't easy either. You do it save people, right? That's why I do it. How hard it is really doesn't matter as long as people are okay."

"I know the feeling. Think it might be a little of both, honestly. You start to notice more, but it does feel like things just keep escalating once someone shows up with the power to fight," she answers. It's something she'd talked to Fury about, all those years ago, when the Hulk had first showed up. After Stark had built his suit...it's like everything had been ramping up since then. She can only imagine what it must be like for Kamala, on her Earth. Natasha's fairly certain they aren't from the same one, at least.

Kamala's other words, though? Well. Nat sees a little, then, what Frank does. What she can be, what Kamala can do. "There's a lot of reasons, but yeah. That's the important one. I can help, so I do. The way I see it, there isn't another option. Not really. Do you have anyone helping you, back home? Or are you the only one?"

It's good to know she isn't crazy. Kamala checked the timeline. Her first villain had been kidnapping kids for a couple months before she got her abilities. There was always going to be a conflict. What followed came straight from the appearance of powered people. It's nice to be validated on that since Natasha is very smart in Kamala's opinion based on what she knows of her Black Widow.

That's neither here nor there. Natasha is asking a couple of important questions. Kamala scratches the back of her head. She knows how this sounds."Uh... I'm kind of a solo act. I had a dog with teleportation powers helping me for a bit, but I guess I outgrew him so he went back to watching the little kids at Attilan." Which she thinks is a good thing. She's old enough to be on her own or something according to the Inhumans at least.

No, definitely not crazy. Maybe it's just some weird law of causality. She'd had this conversation with Fury before, and that was before aliens wrecked half of Manhattan. But doing what she does alone...well. Natasha may have been a solo act for years, may be sort of one now, but she knows the value of a team.

"Are there any other people like you, back there? With powers?" A teleporting dog is all well and good, but having someone to shoulder some of that workload does help.

She blinks twice. Wow Natasha really doesn't know, huh? That tracks since they've never really talked before. "Oh yeah! There's hundreds of them." Kamala points out frankly. She tacks on barely a second later, "That we know of. The truth is we have tons of heroes trying to solve problems, but they're still not enough to cover everything."
tothefly: (oh no)

"Hundreds?"

Okay, so she does look a little shocked at that. Can't blame a girl, back where she's from there are dozens at most, and almost all of those fully untrained or unaware of their full potential. And as for heroes, well. There really aren't even that many of those. She looks at what the Avengers from her Earth tried to do, and tries to imagine a world with hundreds of them. It must be chaos. Fortunately, she at least keeps that expression from her face. "Makes sense. You can't be everywhere all the time, and if heroes in your world are anything like people anywhere, coordinating them is a little like herding cats. Is that why you started?"
morphogenia: (Should be to figure out our role)

"They're like angry cats who should really not be allowed to have political debates on anything." Kamala shudders. She's definitely flashing back to that time their version of Civil War basically created a draft for superpowered people. Not fun times!!!

"And yeah. Basically there was this guy-bird-thing kidnapping kids who hate themselves and no one would miss to use for his science experiment. I kind of had to do something about it when they went after my friend's idiot brother."

"You and I are definitely on the same page about that." She's fresh out of her world's own version of that, and may have her own very strong opinions about heroes and politics. Just because they have good intentions doesn't mean they know how to work with a complex political system. Of course, her own world's version didn't involve literal drafting; that had been the thing before, with HYDRA and Project Insight, something that still left a bad taste in her mouth. The fact that she'd never even seen that coming...

"So you did it for your friend. That's really brave of you. Even having superpowers doesn't mean you have to act when you see that kind of thing happening. The fact that you did says something."
