[MINGLE] Harvest Feast 🍂

WHERE: 6I Inn
WHEN: 10 November, all day
OPEN TO: ALL - MINGLE POST
NOTE: Details can be found here.

In the wee hours of November 10th, before even the earliest risers have roused themselves for another day, items begin to appear in the front room of the Inn. Decorations first — Boughs of autumn leaves in their reds and golds, wreaths of dried flowers and silken ribbon, flickering candles among the goards and berries and acorns. The food arrives next, the decadent aroma slipping up the Inn stairs to tempt those lingering in bed — Every imaginable harvest time delicacy, from roast turkey and ham to smoked salmon and oysters; fresh, soft bread warm from the oven to plum pudding and ice cream. And did we mention pie?

Once again, it's time for a feast. The bar is stocked, the coffee is brewed and the tables are groaning with food. Indulge, there's more than enough for everyone — That is, if you don't lose your appetite worrying about what it will all cost.

"I mean, I'm gonna do that, too, obvs. But I haven't seen food like this in what feels like years," a pause, "it hasn't really been years, but it feels like it, and I hate it. I can say with pretty good certainty that most of the time I've spent here has been dreaming about food like this. Wishing I could just .. go to the Metro Market or even a Whole Foods and pay far too much money for stuff that could be found way cheaper elsewhere. But it's the principle of the thing, you know?" He might be on a slight sugar high from how much dessert he's already have. His skull feels like it's buzzing underneath his face.

"Oooh, a doctor," he says, nodding, reaching out a spare hand to shake hers. "My BFF and housemate is also one of the doctors. Ravi? British man with extraordinary hair? Next time you see him, you should call his beard Princess Sparkles. He really loves that." He does not love that, Major. "Oh, yeah. I'm Major Lilywhite."

"I'm afraid you've lost me with that reference," Beverly says with a light laugh. "We don't exactly have Markets or a-" What was it? "Whole Foods." She can guess what they were for, given the conversation, but that barely helps her imagine it all. "Those don't exist in my time."

When, not where. Most people she's met so far have been from some past version of her universe, or a past version of one very similar.

She does take the hand when offered, shaking it firmly, but not hard. "Yes, Ravi is a good friend of mine. But I don't think I'll be calling his beard anything." Even if it is hilarious. "Nice to meet you, Major. How long have you been around?"

"Oh, yeah. They're just .. overpriced, really obnoxious, bougie supermarkets. Seattleites really love their overpriced produce for some reason. I think it makes them feel like they're .. better than other folks? Even though they're probably just paying more for the same thing they could find at one of the cheaper supermarkets," Major explains with a bit of a shrug. He doesn't frequent those places a lot, given the fact that he'd been on a social worker's salary and then intermittent personal trainer pay, but he likes to pretend sometimes. He bought a container of milk there, right before he'd wound up here. He wonders if time stops back home, if that milk's gone bad now, or if it all ... gets suspended and hangs in nothingness until someone returns.

"You should. Really. And then tell me how it goes. He'll know I put you up to it almost immediately, but it's worth for that half a second of horror where he wonders how you might've figured it out." He offers a smile then counts on his fingers. "Uhhh, like, five months, I think? Maybe six? I think it's five, though .. time is kinda hard to keep track of here, you know?" He spears some mess of food on his fork before stopping halfway to his mouth to ask, "What about you?"

Ah, Seattle. Not the Earth city she usually spends time in. "San Francisco is more my speed," she jokes. That's where Starfleet and Federation headquarters are after all. If she spends much time on Earth, it's usually Starfleet Medical, which is also there.

"We'll probably have to start keeping track of the days." Anything else is far too hard. Even days might be too much, given that one period when the sun didn't set. "About... 7 months? Something like that."
