[MINGLE] Harvest Feast 🍂

WHERE: 6I Inn
WHEN: 10 November, all day
OPEN TO: ALL - MINGLE POST
NOTE: Details can be found here.

In the wee hours of November 10th, before even the earliest risers have roused themselves for another day, items begin to appear in the front room of the Inn. Decorations first — Boughs of autumn leaves in their reds and golds, wreaths of dried flowers and silken ribbon, flickering candles among the goards and berries and acorns. The food arrives next, the decadent aroma slipping up the Inn stairs to tempt those lingering in bed — Every imaginable harvest time delicacy, from roast turkey and ham to smoked salmon and oysters; fresh, soft bread warm from the oven to plum pudding and ice cream. And did we mention pie?

Once again, it's time for a feast. The bar is stocked, the coffee is brewed and the tables are groaning with food. Indulge, there's more than enough for everyone — That is, if you don't lose your appetite worrying about what it will all cost.

She hadn't explored the other village to determine how it was inhabited and whether or not others were using the inn. There were so many empty houses that she suspected not many had migrated over. So why would the inn be used as a possible place for another feast if it could be missed? It didn't seem wise, but one could never predict the Observers.

"I wonder if it is something they are concerned about? They give so many different gifts, it would be odd that they choose to be picky about something like this." It would be amusing at least, the only thing that could be taken from that. Anything else involving the Observers seemed to just be confusing and tiring.

"I don't know. They come at certain times of the year. This one would fall during a harvest festival, I think? The only other one I knew of happened in the spring. The rest, I have only heard of secondhand."

Apart from one trip to have a look at the overall layout of the other village, Picard hasn't really spent a lot of time there. He's not unaware of the fact that people do seem to be staying there, but other than that he can't say that he's done a whole lot of research as to how things tend to run over there. And to be prefectly honest, it sounds a little more inconvenient to need to go all the way back to the other settlement whenever one wants to go home. But on the other hand, if someone happens to be looking for a more secluded place to live, it would certainly be that if nothing else.

"It would be. But that's certainly not something that they couldn't decide to be?"

For whatever reason they might happen to decide to be, but just at the moment it's not something he means to spend too much thought on.

"And it would be about the right time of year for a harvest festival, yes."

Why the Observers would want to celebrate the harvest is a little bit harder to answer. But the timing is approximately correct, if nothing else.

She couldn't imagine living so far away, save for needing space. She couldn't deny that she had considered that and found it to be a tempting reason. But it was so far away from the activity of this village, which the Observers seemed to make their center. If there was anything unusual, there were others there that would at least tell them.

"There are a number of things they don't have to do for us, but choose to. I imagine there are conditions, but I don't know what that might be." There were times that it seemed like they were pets or hounds kept in a kennel. Perhaps they were being trained for something?

It was paranoid thinking, something she tried to avoid of late.

"You have attended harvest festivals before?"
