[MINGLE] Scout's Honor

WHERE: Hot Springs
WHEN: 21 Sept, after sunset
OPEN TO: ALL - MINGLE
WARNINGS: Please warn in your subject line as needed
NOTES: Details found here

It's been a strange, rough couple of months for our intrepid villagers — Bunkers, superpowers and clones, oh my! Perhaps the Observers are sympathetic to their plight, or maybe they just have a peculiar sense of humor. At any rate, they've set up a gathering space chalk full of summer camp goodness, no strings attached. Not that anyone knows that part.

Just before sunset, a cheery message pops up on wrist devices all across the settlement and beyond. The instructions seem simple enough, although one does have to wonder at what dubious gift awaits them all after everything is said and done.

Marshmallows are on the house, so grab yourself a stick, strap on a sash and get to roasting, villagers. Skinny dipping, sing-alongs and friendship bracelets optional.

"I can manage smaller things. But I'll need something heavier for anything bigger than a deer," she watches Fang as she lines up the thread, and grabs a few strands herself, trying to mirror the action.

Maybe a better attempt will get her that badge. Maybe she'll even get this one into something roughly bracelet-shaped.

"There's some machetes in there, too. Nothing bigger than that, though." A lack which Fang is constantly hating. She can do all right with the knives and daggers left there, she's even found a favorite among the set, but she desperately wants a weapon that she knows how to use well, as opposed to one she just knows how to use. Beggars can't be choosers, but she hates begging. "Still, anything helps - far as I can tell, there's not enough hunters to give everyone a decent share of game right now."

Fang keeps an eye on Wynonna's new attempt, making sure she's got the ends knotted firmly, and then spots what seems to be an immediate issue. "Hang on - looks like that's part of the reason yours went all crooked. You need an anchor or it'll just twist itself up into a mess when you can't keep things straight. See?" Moving over to one of the trees nearby, Fang finds a little twig and ties the end of her bracelet into a loose loop, then puts that loop over the branch and begins weaving the threads. "If you can't tell what's s'posed to be the fourth bit from the sixth, you're never gonna be on your pattern, whatever it is." And indeed the branch means the bracelet isn't turning over on itself and frees up both her hands for controlling the strings. It's not a guarantee, but it's a help.

Wynonna nods semi-approvingly at the very simple pattern she's managing to weave the string into, with only the occasional knot in the wrong place or dropped thread. It is a simple thing, but the finished product is at least on par with a middle-schooler's attempt.

She rolls the information about machetes over in her head, making note of that and filing it under Look Into Later.

"Honestly, I did kind of miss having the option for accessorization," she says, holding it up to the firelight. "The scrubs definitely leave something to desired, am I right?"
