The message goes out over the Network Sunday evening.

'Young Adult Club, First Meet-Up/Party Monday night. First house after the Jail/Barn. Bring Snacks If You've Got Them To Spare.'

Invitation sent in general, The rest, now, came down to Nida. Good thing he had someone who knew how parties worked was right there too. Rinoa turned out to be a pretty good resource. He learned there were a few important things to do for a party. Three major things were needed: music, treats and games. Unfortunately they couldn't do much about the former, so instead Nida employed his housemates in trying to make sure the latter two were covered.

The Nibbles

The easiest person to go to about food turned out to be Seifer. Of the three of them the blonde had somehow ended up as the defacto chef of their house when it came to important things like this. What this meant was a variety of easily made food, things like a plate of half-dollar sized pancakes for easy munching or dipping into other things, fried potato edges, even a quiche that Seifer had managed to whip up, not that Nida even recognized what the whole thing was. While it wasn't as impressive a spread as the New Year Eve party had (or perhaps even the forge gathering) it was clear that the three had done the best they could with the skills two mercenaries and a formerly sheltered young woman had between them. Hopefully treats from other people would help with the spread. Personally, Nida was hoping to steal some of the fritatta Seifer had made in their cast iron skillet, but guests came first of course.

The Games

Games. What even were party games? For that one the center spotlight had gone to Rinoa's planning efforts. Nida had scrounged in the inn's shared supplies, borrowing a set of playing cards and a Jenga set. Not that he really knew what the latter was. The cards went to the dining room table with some extra chairs borrowed from an unoccupied house, the Jenga onto the coffee table, and Rinoa's peakitten Julia got shuffled into her room to prevent her from knocking over the wooden blocks yet again. Nida was tired of rebuilding.

Introductions

They're all new here, they don't all know each other, so Nida and Rinoa encourage people upon arrival to start out simple. And all you have to do is say your name and three facts about yourself. Or, if you're feeling mischievous, two truths and a lie. Can people guess the truth of the matter about you? Or do they already know you well?

Quite Spaces

Frankly Nida wasn't sure how he felt about opening their house to so many people, and with the living room, dining room and kitchen all prepped for use, he realized there was one other thing people could need. A place to talk quietly or just have group games. As he was the only one of the three of them that didn't have much in the way of property and could give up the whole concept of privacy for a bit, the back bedroom ended up having a note pinned on it with a kitchen knife.

'Quiet Space for Your Use - Do not have sex in my bed please'

With his staff stored in the basement and his tiny journal and pencils stored out of sight on top of the standing wardrobe, the room was perfect for anyone who just needed to cool down. Or have a private conversation. Good thing the house has electricity because that could be used long into the night.

Introductions;

Fun fact: she's wanted to make friends her age since she got here. They ended up disappearing a lot. They certainly never organized a get together so she's stoked. When it's her turn, she waves at them and smiles big. "Hi! I'm Kamala Khan. I survived a horror movie, I am a huge fan of superheroes, and I sort of live in a zoo at the moment? My roommate won't stop getting pets and I actually don't mind it since my parents wouldn't let me have one before." Is she telling two truths and a lie or is this her legit intro? She'll let them decide.

The Nibbles;

She loves to cook. It's not much of a surprise that Kamala has shows up with sliced potatoes season with garlic and parsley. Feel free to compliment the chef or help her set this up. She made a lot of potatoes in hopes of making a good impression.

Games;

Jenga is a hard game for a girl with zero chill. Kamala is trying. She is trying so hard!! And... safe to say she's losing a lot. Tips please?

Kamala pokes him back playfully. "Stories where horrible things happen pretty much nonstop in video form." Kamala starts to explain before realizing that this might be overall confusion. She'd better expand on this one. "Oh. So basically we were in a place like this before except sound monsters tried to kill us nonstop and the people were horrible. Basically everything sucked. It's kind of miracle we're alive so I like to think of it as a horror movie. We're the final girls who got away from the monsters."
morphogenia: (The Moonlight connects us)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-01-29 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Strange was definitely the word for it." Kamala notes lightly. She didn't even get to the weirdo cult or purple monster. This is supposed to be fun. She really, really wants to have fun. "And thanks, Nida. I just want to put all that stuff behind me to be honest. It just makes a fun trivia fact." Or scary. It's hard to say with her!
morphogenia: (we'll win the fight!)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-01-30 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Kamala nods eagerly. "Yes, please! Your world is really weird and cool. I want to know more about how you fit into it."
morphogenia: (I have that feeling)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-02-09 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Kamala blinks twice. That's a pretty specific thing back home to her. "Isn't that the end of the world?" It was for Thor's people.
morphogenia: (we'll win the fight!)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-02-17 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Kamala smiles, pumping up her fists in excitement. She way prefers that to sad stuff. "Oh that's so much better than our thing! Tell me more about it!"
morphogenia: (What I want is to find my place in life)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-02-20 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Is she cute and fun too?" Kamala jokes with a silly wink. She's quickly caught up in his description. Her eyes brighten in wonder at it. "Wow! I'm so jealous! I'd love to be on a cool ship."

introductions

[personal profile] tosavecocoon 2019-01-20 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Vanille giggles at this introduction. "Your roommate sounds a lot like me. What kinds of animals have they already picked up? I've got eight now." Her little menagerie. She loves them all so much. It was a bit of a stretch to leave Raine and Bhakti at home for this, but she didn't think they would survive the crowded house. Or, more accurately, she didn't think the house would survive them.
morphogenia: (What I want is to find my place in life)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-01-22 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Kamala's eyes widen in response. She had no idea anyone was on their level."Seriously?! We have eight too!" She grins brightly. "That's so cool! Did you have a lot at home too?"
tosavecocoon: ({ a way to make another day go by)

[personal profile] tosavecocoon 2019-01-25 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's a good number!" Vanille giggles happily. "Yeah, but my home life was a lot like life here. We had a communal village and everyone helped out everyone else. So if you ever need anyone to help with your animals, just call me!"

She's always happy to help out with animals and now she knows someone else who has a bunch of animals. Maybe if she ends up going away for a while, she has someone else who can look after hers.

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-01-29 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? My life was the total opposite of this." Kamala confesses with a laugh. She could barely keep her teleporting bodyguard dog in the house for longer than a night. Now she's pretty sure her pea kitten sleeps in her hair. "But, I will. To be honest, my roommate is so good a this stuff things would have be super dire for me to call you in. I don't think I could have this many without him helping me."
tosavecocoon: ({ wish that i had other choices)

[personal profile] tosavecocoon 2019-02-05 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Vanille giggles, clasping her hands behind her back. "As long as you love them all!" she chirps happily. "Raine and Bhakti are finally getting to the point that they understand how to be guard dogs for the others, so I don't have my hands as full as I used to. They still get into trouble, though." And they probably always will, but at least there's never a dull moment at Vanille's house! "Things are... calmer here than back home. A little, anyway."
morphogenia: (it makes me feel serene)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-02-09 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course! They're my furry babies." Kamala states sincerely. She finds it interesting what Vanille uses the dogs for. Kamala ruthlessly babies them, but she thinks Frank means them to hunt and stuff. Definitely not defend the house unless they're lulling people into a false sense of security.

Vanille gives her a decent hook to dive into. Kamala leans forward in interesting. "Oh? What's it like back there?"
tosavecocoon: ({ man it's good to be someone)

[personal profile] tosavecocoon 2019-02-10 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
They aren't guard dogs for the house as much as herding dogs for the bigger animals. If Vanille decides to take them out of the pen one day, she would rather have some means to keep them all together in the event that something spooks the kirin or separates one of the purple ones from the rest. Having herding dogs around will help her feel more secure with the large herd she's amassing.

"It's a lot like life here," Vanille says thoughtfully. "My village works a lot like this one, except everything is closer together. The houses are all right next to each other and everyone shares everything. We do everything we can to help each other. It's one big family! But... the wildlife is different. Scarier and more dangerous than what I've seen here so far."

Just about everything on Gran Pulse was capable of killing people. The Oerba people were just good at avoiding them when possible or fighting when necessary.
morphogenia: (So I swim for all salvation)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-02-17 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Kamala listens thoughtfully to this. It kind of sounds like an ideal place to live in some ways. "I like the part where you're all a big family." Kamala comments innocently. She wishes it was more like that here. The rest is obviously really scary. "So basically like the wendigos times a million? That sounds super awful. It's good that you have each other to help with that."
tosavecocoon: ({ confused by the lies she's been fed)

[personal profile] tosavecocoon 2019-02-23 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
The longer she stays here, the more Vanille thinks that most people come from places that are like Cocoon. It puts her at a distinct advantage in survival situations, but it also means she has a harder time finding things in common with other people.

"It was home," she says simply. "It's like here. You have your village built up in an area that's good to live in. Easy to defend and with access to food and water. You learn what lives around you and how to exist with them or convince them to stay away." She lifts her shoulders in a shrug. "Some of the creatures out there are so majestic. But it's really about knowing your environment. That's all. When you grow up with it, it's not so scary."
morphogenia: (I am not an angry girl)

[personal profile] morphogenia 2019-03-04 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hm." Kamala hums as she thinks it over. It's easy to imagine if only because it reminds her of this place. It's hard to think she could be born in a place like this. Maybe she's thinking too small though. She talks that out since what else can you do to get to know someone, but share your thoughts? "I guess that makes sense. Maybe you'd find my home super weird come to think of it. We get alien invasions, people trying to outlaw or control people with powers, and gods that try to mess with us. Our survival is a little more... quirky, I guess."
