[MINGLE] PLOT: Down the Tubes: Alarm

WHERE: The bunker & elsewhere
WHEN: 1 September 2018
OPEN TO: ALL - MINGLE
WARNINGS: Please warn on threads
NOTES: Plot Details | Bunker Details | Bunker Map & Key
Threads may take place ANYTIME during the plot, including before, during and after the tubes have been opened, just please do not godmod tube arrivals without explicit permission. Related threads not in the bunker are welcomed, as are general bunker exploration/reaction threads that have nothing to do with the arrivals. Please reference the bunker key doc for what is and isn't available to explore at present.

Deep under the mountain, tucked away in the newly-discovered bunker complex, there is a room where everyone begins. It is filled with equipment — Computer consoles, monitors — but the point of it all resides within ten vertical stasis tubes lined neatly along a far wall.

One of them has been cracked and lies dormant, dry. In six of the remaining are bodies, unconscious and floating in their familiar vari-colored scrubs, vital signs ticking calmly off on their respective readouts.

In the corner, near the cracked tube, the ceiling has shattered and tumbled inward, across the floor and over the largest console in the room — The one flashing 24 HOURS UNTIL STASIS FAILURE.

Vanille shakes her head at those descriptions. "Nope. Haven't seen any of them." She's assuming, anyway. She doesn't really know who or what Coldplay is. This fitting in here thing just keeps getting harder. Someday she'll have to find a more creative way of asking these kinds of questions.

"We have an Inn, but there's not a lot of alcohol," she says with an apologetic shrug before adding on firmly, "I'm fine!"

She's not fine, but she's good at faking it and insisting that she is often makes her look... well, determined, more than actually fine. There's a lot swirling around now, but she's not the type to just share everything she's thinking or feeling with a perfect stranger. Face it later, as Serah said.

"Maybe someone at the Inn has seen your friends. You could try there once everyone's cleared out here."

“What sort of an Inn doesn’t have alcohol?!” More horrified by this fact than the absence of her friends, or so it seemed anyway. “Where are we? Amishville?” What sort of place had an Inn with no booze? It would be like a reality TV show about watching paint dry.

The thing about being fine? The only people who ever said they were? Were the people who weren’t. Fine was only an acceptable and believable answer when talking about the weather or a hot guys ass. The only thing worse than saying you were fine, however, was when the person you said it to, wouldn’t let it go. It’s the only reason Kenzi doesn’t push it right now, instead offering up a small, half grin and a knowing look.

“Excellent idea. Lead the way!” Not that she’d offered of course but, just because Kenzi wasn’t going to push didn’t mean she wasn't going to meddle. She might not be able to fix the ‘fine’ situation but she was an excellent distraction.

Having no idea what Amishville is, Vanille just giggles and goes right along with it. "Something like that," she agrees. For all she knows, Kenzi's assessment is right. No need to draw more attention to herself.

For now, Vanille ignores the knowing look. It's the same sort of thing Fang would have given her, except Fang would press at her until she finally gave in. Fang is still down in the bunker and luckily, Kenzi doesn't have the same background that Fang and Vanille have with each other. For now, Vanille can get away with her insistence and maybe it'll become more real than lie.

"It's a bit of a walk," she says. "We just have to get to the south village and then it's kind of in the middle. How much has anyone told you about this place?" She might not be the best tour guide, but she sure can try.

Kenzi makes a face at hearing it’s not going to be a short distance to travel, but if her choice is between dripping water by a lake and the potential for a place where she can change and potentially find food? It’s not like its much of a choice.

“So if there’s a South Village… what does that make this place? The North Village?” She means it as a joke but no sooner has she said it out loud, that she realizes…

“Never mind. It’s totally called the North Village. You guys have got to work on your naming game. Next thing you’ll tell me everything in the village is just what it is with a The in front.”

Vanille giggles behind her hands for a moment, taking the offered moment of levity as a chance to get her cheerful mask back into place. She likes this girl already. "Yep!" she chirps in response. "Everything's just like that. The Inn, the hospital, the schoolhouse. Except I think the schoolhouse is still broken." She thinks that's the building that had trouble before she crawled out of the fountain. "There's a mill and a police station, too, I think."

So, really, Kenzi's right about everything.

"And a barn, though I keep my animals with me at the house Fang and I share. A couple of people were nice enough to help me build a fence for them. You can do almost anything you want here."
