[MINGLE] Breakfast Feast

WHERE: Lawn in front of 6I Inn
WHEN: Morning, April 5
OPEN TO: ALL - Mingle
WARNINGS: n/a

The day dawns bright and just a little cool, soft mist rolling over the distant mountains as the forest stretches and yawns in the breeze. It's another beautiful morning in this new-old village, just waiting for its inhabitants to begin filling it with the work of the day.

But this day, there is a surprise. A gift, if you will, not unfamiliar to the old timers, although they know too that sometimes these gifts come with strings.

On the lawn in front of the 6I inn, all of the tables, chairs and even the bar has been moved out into the breaking sunshine. A breakfast feast has been arranged, tables piled high with every imaginable delicacy and comfort food of a certain era: Muffins, toast, coffee, fruit, pop-overs, crumpets, lamb chops, porridge, hot chocolate, biscuits, and every kind of egg, just to start. Even the bar is stocked for those itching for mimosas, mint juleps or irish coffee.

Of course, anyone who has spent time in the wilderness can tell you: In a place gone wild, it's only a matter of time before the scent of food draws in unwanted visitors. Eat up while you can, villagers; you may be sharing your plate soon.

It's true, Steve is not always the best person to pick up certain cues. Unless body language is aggressive or sneaky for example, or he's specifically looking for something, it generally doesn't ping his radar. The discrepancy between Major's words and body language though he isn't missing.

"You don't really look fine," he says as he frowns at the other man. With a tilt of his head he's trying to figure out what he's missing. With a quick glance at those around him, he doesn't immediately see anyone else having issues with the food.

"Doesn't it taste fine to you?" He asks back without answering the question himself. Reaching out he takes an item off of Major's plate and puts it in his mouth, taking an extra moment to chew it thoroughly. It tastes alright to him. "You think someone's messed with it, or it's poisoned?" There has to be more to it than it not being cooked to Major's liking.

"N-no, not exactly. Not - I don't think - No one here would poison anyone else, I don't think. The folks here, they're not like that." Not usually. Part of him wants to shrug and laugh it off as a practical joke by Ravi, like maybe his friend has somehow tampered with him or his food to make him go into this panicked state. But he also knows, for as much fun and mischief as Ravi likes to have, he wouldn't go this far. He wouldn't cross that line.

Which means ..

"Have, uh, have you seen Ravi?" He's not answering that question, either .. Not yet, anyway.

With a small shake of his head, Steve dismisses that line of thinking. "I wasn't thinking about us, but more along the lines of the Observers." The last time a feast was offered he'd spoken to a couple people who had warned about such things happening.

"Ravi?" Steve frowns, not recognizing the name. Having selected a house in the far reaches of the second village has left him out of touch with who everyone is and he's not met as many of the others as he would have liked. Ravi being one of them. He shakes his head. "Sorry, I don't know who that is." Leaning forward slightly, he narrows his eyes slightly. "Are you concerned he may have done something to your food, or that he may be in some sort of trouble as well?"
