[MINGLE] Saints & Sinners Masquerade

WHERE: Corn field next to the inn
WHEN: 31 October, all day and night
OPEN TO: ALL - MINGLE
WARNINGS: Please warn as appropriate in your subject lines
NOTES: Please make sure you have read and understand the event details! If you have questions, drop them here. RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED: Put your SCRUBS COLOR in your OTA subject line for folks doing bingo. Time your OTA for the harvest feast, the masquerade, or both. Costume matches and details for folks who did not get matched are here.

This morning, our intrepid villagers awoke to a surprise of the nicer kind: A bundle of clothing left at the foot of their bed, tied with a bow. There is also a note: Put on your new outfit and join the festivities in the corn field next to the inn.

You may be thinking, what corn field next to the inn? The one that sprung up fully-mature overnight, of course.

In the middle of the field, villagers will find an autumn feast: Tables piled with harvest time food and drink, warm and rustic decorations, the day's sunshine fending off any chill in the air.

Tuck in and enjoy, villagers, but take note: Things often look different in the dark, and you might be one of them.

Finnick was used, by now, to assuming that people here would show no understanding of things that were common knowledge to anyone in Panem, and that he and Annie would be confused about some things that many people here knew. So he wasn't surprised when someone answered his question with an indication that yes, these outfits made sense to him. If anything, this guy's costume looked like something that might have come out of the Capitol, and Finnick eyed it, up and down, before he raised his eyebrows.

"Guess this is one of those times when the connection between who we are and what they do to us isn't apparent."

For one, the guy didn't sound like he came from the Capitol. For another, he seemed to think there was some connection between the outfit and dancing. Finnick looked back down at his own outfit at the word prisoner, and shook his head.

"Is that what this is?"

He couldn't have told anyone what a prisoner looked like in Panem. People taken prisoner tended either to disappear to to reappear, permanently silenced for their trouble. And this was definitely not an Avox's outfit.

"Only in the metaphorical sense," he conceded, after a brief consideration. He didn't have to reach far for the metaphor, though, so perhaps it was an appropriate costume.

"Hopefully a costume is just a costume for today." Ty offered up, still a bit uneasy about how his vision had blurred before everyone had changed. Was it a trick of the sun or just a taste of something more sinister? Either way, he was going to stay alert for now and eat his fill of free food.

He was curious to ask where this guy was from, but here, it seemed like a loaded question so he held off. Instead he had to grin at the comment about it being in a 'metaphorical sense', gesturing around.

"So out of the frying pan and into the fire huh? Have you been here long?"
