This morning, our intrepid villagers awoke to a surprise of the nicer kind: A bundle of clothing left at the foot of their bed, tied with a bow. There is also a note: Put on your new outfit and join the festivities in the corn field next to the inn.

You may be thinking, what corn field next to the inn? The one that sprung up fully-mature overnight, of course.

In the middle of the field, villagers will find an autumn feast: Tables piled with harvest time food and drink, warm and rustic decorations, the day's sunshine fending off any chill in the air.

Tuck in and enjoy, villagers, but take note: Things often look different in the dark, and you might be one of them.

He smiles at her when he notices her looking at him. He picks up a plate of food and then walks closer to her. "Hello there"

Tensing as he gets closer, holding her breath without realizing it, but he's smiling and he's not moving aggressively.

What is this place? What are these people that aren't in constant battle, either with themselves or their own creations?

Slowly, she takes a breath and eases the tension in sigh. "Hello. You are ... " Reminiscent of the machines that tried to kill her? Alien, terrifying? "... big."

In that, he reminded her of 8, proportionally speaking.

"That I am. Even for my kind, but we are all bigger than humans." He gives her a warm smile.

"I am the Iron Bull. Who are you?"

"You're a bull?" She doesn't know much about fauna in general - that had been 3 and 4's domain as the custodians of knowledge, but she'd seen paintings of animals and had never seen one like this. There's a certain fascination finding something not-human that was also not-machine.

"I'm 7." She makes a little motion towards him, "Are you always like this or were you different before you came here?"

"No, I am not a bull. I am a Qunari. I just have taken that name." He smiles slightly. "Nice to meet you, Seven. That is not exactly a common name either."

He gives her another smile. "I was always like this."

"It fits right in where I'm from." Before 8, after 6, but she's not quite willing to dive into her past quite yet. "I've never seen anyone quite like you."

If the staring wasn't an indication. He reminds her of a human, he reminds her of the Beast, but his demeanor is entirely unexpected for what she's used to from either.

"That is because there isn't anyone quite like me. But there are other Qunari." He still smiles. "They are also tall, grey-skinned and with horns. Well most of them have horns but you get the point."

She chances a smile back at him. "Point? Pun intended?"

Imagining a whole bunch of Qunari like he's just described, though. Was every world so different? "Well, it's nice to meet you, Iron Bull."

[ataashihunter]

"It is very nice to meet you too. Come one by in a few weeks if you want beer, it is still brewing."

[to_defend]

"Beer ..." Another something she only knows by way of seeing a discarded can at some point. "I've never had that. I'll try to remember to visit."

[ataashihunter]

"Yeah, it is pretty good. Though I don't know if my beer will be, I've never made it before."

[to_defend]

"I might not be able to tell the difference." Fair warning, but so far she hasn't encountered a food thing that she hasn't been able to finish.

[ataashihunter]

He chuckles slightly. "Then you are definitely invited to the first tasting."

[to_defend]

"I ... look forward to it." She smiles lightly, cautiously optimistic with the invitation.

[ataashihunter]

"Good good. I am going to get some more food. You want anything?"

[to_defend]

"Yes, I would." Her stomach didn't hurt so much anymore, but she felt like she could still eat a little more. "I've had some, grapes? And bread. What else is there?"

[ataashihunter]

"Well it depends on what you are in the mood for. Sweet or savory?"

[to_defend]

7 looks up at him, "What's the difference?"

[ataashihunter]

Bull just blinks at her. "Oh..." That was not something he was expecting. "One is sweet and the other is more salty or meaty."

[to_defend]

Mm - in that case I'll take savory? [Everything about food is a mystery.]

[ataashihunter]

That we can do. See those little pies over there? Try one of those.

[to_defend]

Alright - [wanders over and looks at the pies. Are they all the same? She dithers for a moment, then picks one and looks it over. Tentatively, still never sure what she's going to be experiencing, she takes a bite and seems to mull over it deeply as she chews.

[ataashihunter]

[ Bull smiles and watches her, letting her have a few moments to experience it before he walks over. ]

This is good! It's warm, and ... [She picks at the filling to get a better look at it, ] What is this?

I like this.

[ataashihunter]

[ He comes over and takes a look at the filling. ] Looks like some sort of meat and nuts. Some spices too.
