[MINGLE] Saints & Sinners Masquerade

This morning, our intrepid villagers awoke to a surprise of the nicer kind: A bundle of clothing left at the foot of their bed, tied with a bow. There is also a note: Put on your new outfit and join the festivities in the corn field next to the inn.

You may be thinking, what corn field next to the inn? The one that sprung up fully-mature overnight, of course.

In the middle of the field, villagers will find an autumn feast: Tables piled with harvest time food and drink, warm and rustic decorations, the day's sunshine fending off any chill in the air.

Tuck in and enjoy, villagers, but take note: Things often look different in the dark, and you might be one of them.

"Hades. God of the underworld, that's Cerberus, his dog." Which tickles the hell out of Tony from where he's standing in his damn alien suit, even with the stilts? He comes up to about Bull's chin. No fair. All sleek black and monstrous articulation, claws and tail somewhat mellowed by his unmasked face below the alien skull and the crackle of his laughter. "Togas suit you, though."

"You have a god of the underworld? Actual god or some pretend god?" Bull looks at Tony for a long moment. "You look like something I'd see in the fade. And be glad to leave behind there."

He glances down at the toga. "Yeah? Maybe I should wear a blanket more often."

"I'm not sure where he is on the sliding scale of worshiped to obsolete, honestly. We've got a lot of different religions running around in varying degrees of activity." Tony shrugs, the bony protrusions on his back shifting along his spine with the gesture. "Yeah this is uh- an alien? A monster. Something we made up to be scary."

Apparently, it's working. "Personally, you look best with the blankets on the floor but- that's just my opinion."

"Huh yeah I mean that is the way it is with humans in my world too. The chantry is the most common one but not the only one." He grins at the suggestion. "Well I think so too but I doubt people here would like it if I just dropped the blanket."

"Public nudity is frowned upon. Also it's a little chilly." He cocks his head to the side, reaching out to tap Bull's chest. "You could put someone's eye out, Big Guy."

"With a nipple or? Because you're not the first one to say that." He chuckles. "Just ask..." He turns around looking at the crowd before he points someone out. "Dorian over there."

"Yeah- what's the story with you two? I mean it's none of my business but it sounded like he, uh, knew you." Bull doesn't do relationships and he's not worried about that but the other guy seemed-

There was tension in the conversation that wasn't only sexual, when referencing Bull. Dorian seemed fond. That's fine. "Is this the part where I respectfully bow out, or what?"

"We fooled around a bit. Kind of the same deal you and I have. Back where we're from. Well, sort of where we're from. He's Tevinter and the Qunari have been at war with them for a long time. And he is a mage. Qunari views on mages are not exactly good. It's complicated." He frowns and then glances back at Dorian.

"Did he say anything to make you think I didn't want you around?" He slides an arm around Tony and pulls him close.

"What? No. But I can read a room." Also there's that voice in the back of his head picking out everything that is younger, brighter, better in Dorian that leaves him more than a little puzzled why Bull's bothering.

A voice he's ignoring for now.

"Generally I try to avoid tripping into complicated interpersonal relationships. They don't always end well for me."

Bull studies Tony for a moment. He recognises some of the same things he feels. Why bother with a damaged old merc when you can have someone younger and better. He pulls him closer, arm settling around him, claiming Tony.

"Dorian and I have history, yeah, but it's never been serious or exclusive. We work for the same organisation and I think we both see the same thing in the other, something dangerous and forbidden." Complicated is an understatement and it is only fair to let Tony know what is going on.

"I like him, but I like you too." He moves to tip Tony's face up to meet him and bends to kiss him.

Hard to ignore that he's got some slice of Bull for however long he wants it when he's pulled in like this. Bizarre costume or no, Bull radiates a solid heat that settles some of Tony's quiet anxieties.

Shit he generally doesn't discuss with Bruce. Shit he doesn't discuss with, well. Anyone. Bull just knows. Saves time on talking, it's part of the appeal. Not that the rest of him isn't impressive, that there's not an odd comfort to knowing in this way he can trust Bull to hold him if he leans a little (and he does) but.

It's a relief that he doesn't need to articulate the snarled mess of emotions he can't always parse easily. "I'm not saying I'll make things weird one way or another, I'm just saying I noticed tension, that's all. Not the sexy kind, the feels kind."

Which is less important when he's being kissed. Maybe he was imagining it.

Bull kisses him long and slow, taking his time to properly taste Tony and letting him do the same. Letting the kiss hopefully soothe away some of Tony's worries away. "As I said, he and I got history. And yeah maybe some feelings, but that doesn't mean you and I don't have something good going on, something I intend to keep."

He's on stilts, he can't afford to swoon and besides, Starks don't swoon. It's no in their nature, not something he does, they do, but he does lean after Bull despite himself, humming quietly. "I mean. As long as it doesn't get weird."

Feelings are part of what he's trying to avoid with this thing with Bull, having them crop up would be counterproductive.

"I don't want it to get weird. I just want this all to be easy and comfortable for all of us. Have you talked to him yet? Does he know about us?" He strokes Tony's back.

"I've spoken to him, yeah, we discussed magic. Or at least how it works in your world- he knows I know you but I didn't bring us up." Gentlemen don't kiss and tell- but Tony's no Gentleman, it just. Didn't come up as important.

Bull nods. "Alright. I might though. If it comes up. I am not intending on keeping this a secret." He smiles at Tony. He figures the other won't have any issue with that. "And he'd know better than I do how magic works."

"I'm not exactly keeping this quiet either." He huffs, leaning in to Bull's side as best he can in his current costume. "Mostly trying to understand the theory. It...kind of makes sense? A little. Compared to how it's usually described to me."

"Magic is just... I don't know. It is scary and useful at the same time. Those of us who don't have it... it reminds us how small and weak we are compared to those who do."

"...Yeah. That's caused a bit of a problem back home for me too." He closes his eyes, letting himself just. Hang against bull for a moment. "Enhanced frighten people. Trying to write legislation around the concept is difficult."

Bull nods. "I can only imagine. In my world there is a lot of different stuff. The Qunari, we take it further than most. Mages isn't even considered people, just things." He sighs. He doesn't think it is right.

"...I don't think I need t tell you how supremely fucked up that is." Different worlds, different standards but-

Hydra, Wanda, the files about the twins, the stones, human experimentation- he grimaces, twitching in remembrance.

"Well, if it makes it people even non mages are considered mostly parts of a whole. That is why we function the way we do, without the names and everything. You're just a part of a larger whole."
