JASON.
You're welcome to make a mental link with Jason, but his mind is not a pleasant place to linger. Please see the CWs in the opt-out portion at the bottom of this permissions post and let me know if there is anything you definitely want to steer clear of! You can get me at

It does not, however, occur to him that the strange app that's popped up on the watches might have actually done something, much less that it might allow anyone to overhear his thoughts.]
They've certainly been thorough, at least.
[It's an idle thought, as Picard looks over the various books, and given that there aren't a whole lot of other people around, it shouldn't be too hard for Jason to figure out just whose thoughts he happens to be hearing.]

He must've enabled the app on accident, because when Picard's voice gets beamed straight into his head, he's - actually not as confused as he might be. Maybe it's a hallucination; maybe it's some weird effect, like he's seen in the past few months he's been getting tossed around the multiverse. Either way, it doesn't make much difference - Jason turns his head to squint at Picard and asks the old-fashioned way:]
You talkin' to me?
[Maybe not his best Taxi Driver impression, but maybe he wasn't exactly gunning for that.]
no subject
I hadn't intended to, no. But it would seem that the Powers That Be had other intentions.
[Still, there are probably worse things that could happen, and a thought to approximately that effect comes across the mental link.]
no subject
So somebody else is making you talk to me?
no subject
[He is continuing to do so now, yes. But that's mostly on account of the fact that it would feel more than a little rude to simply up and leave the conversation, now that it's gotten started.]
TOMMY.
You're welcome to make a mental link with Tommy, too, and while he has fewer traumas than Jason, the memory of his incarceration and experimentation by the government is frequently present in his mind. Please let me know if there is anything you definitely want to steer clear of! You can get me at

His backpack is full of supplies as he sets out walking through the public areas of the village, headed north, and he hasn't noticed yet that the wrist devices (which he mostly ignores, anyway) are up to something.]
They couldn't have left us seaworthy vessels, no, that would have been too much of an advantage, wouldn't it? Better to give us the broken ones and watch what us try to figure out what to do with them.
no subject
But he better find out what's going on here.]
Uhh ... hello? Can anyone hear me?
Healing Springs Log
His pack was half full when he crested up to the hot springs, surprised to see someone else standing there. Guess he wasn't the only early bird here.]
Good morning!
[He called out, both as a greeting and so he wouldn't startle the other person.]
Here I thought I was the only one who went for long morning runs.

He hasn't spent much time getting to know the others in the village yet - staying on the move and trying not to attract unwanted attention is a hard habit to shake. But the voice addressing him sounds friendly enough, so Tommy turns to face him and offers a nod and a wave in greeting.]
Any time's a good time for a run, in my book. [His face scrunches up in thought.] Well - maybe not in like, a hurricane.
[Or would it be?]
no subject
That the only time? You okay with flash floods or knee deep snow?
[Okay the latter might just be his own personal hang up but who was keeping track?]
no subject
Normally? Yeah, that wouldn't a problem. When I'm not stuck here, I've got super speed, so I can usually just run right over the top of that kinda stuff.
[To illustrate his story, he turns two fingers down at the surface of the water and tucks the rest into his palm, moving each finger on an opposite beat to mime a person's legs as they run across the water. He catches a glimpse of his reflection and frowns at it, then slaps lightly at the water and stands, wiping his hand on the leg of his pants.]
I hate being a snail. This place is the worst.
