[Jason's content to ignore other visitors to the library today, focusing his attention instead on sorting through the volumes on the shelves and selecting topics of the most interest. He re-shelves a book on gardening to attract butterflies and decides instead on two others, one giving detailed instructions on how to weave twenty differently shaped baskets, the other a guide on navigating with sextants.

He must've enabled the app on accident, because when Picard's voice gets beamed straight into his head, he's - actually not as confused as he might be. Maybe it's a hallucination; maybe it's some weird effect, like he's seen in the past few months he's been getting tossed around the multiverse. Either way, it doesn't make much difference - Jason turns his head to squint at Picard and asks the old-fashioned way:]

You talkin' to me?

[Maybe not his best Taxi Driver impression, but maybe he wasn't exactly gunning for that.]

[Given that he hadn't been aware of what the app does, much less that it's actually been enabled, Jason's response comes as something of a surprise, and while he does turn at the sound of Jason's voice there's still a moment of confusion that ripples across the mental link. The things his mind runs through as he works it out don't, but the moment of realization that follows shortly thereafter is, and it's only after that that Picard actually speaks up.]

I hadn't intended to, no. But it would seem that the Powers That Be had other intentions.

[Still, there are probably worse things that could happen, and a thought to approximately that effect comes across the mental link.]

[If there's one thing Jason has learned during his ridiculous life, it's that there are always worse things that can happen. Still, this is irritating. Having anyone else in his head is less than ideal - it's crowded enough as it is, with just Jason.]

So somebody else is making you talk to me?

Given that I'm not usually capable of this, [he taps at the side of his head, by way of explanation] I would assume so. Although I would say more that they made it possible. I hadn't meant to speak to anyone, at first.

[He is continuing to do so now, yes. But that's mostly on account of the fact that it would feel more than a little rude to simply up and leave the conversation, now that it's gotten started.]
