Bunker, closed to Squall Leonhart

She comes to very slowly. Rinoa might have gone in and out of consciousness for longer than she knew, or that's how it felt. This wasn't the first time she was so groggy and confused that time had no real meaning. Dark eyes slowly opened and then closed, unable to focus too much on what's in front of her. Where was she? Her hand reached out and hit something solid, and it stung, leading her to whimper and pull it back. No, this was all wrong, this couldn't happen to her again. No more tubes, no more containments, no more sorceresses.

Rinoa started to flail, confused and stuck, when abruptly it seemed to open, letting her tumble out and into the room. This all felt like serious deja vu, because she was only falling for what seemed like a very long second before she collapsed into waiting arms. This time, though, she couldn't stand back up, but merely crumbled to the ground, clinging to the familiar body. "Squall?" she whispered.

The Hot Spring, later

Rinoa was curious to get to know this village, but she stayed overall within the boundaries of what was recommended. Still unsettled and thrown off by the experience, she needed a little space to unwrap her brain and breathe easy. She hadn't heard about the hot spring or what they were capable of, all she knew was they looked peaceful and nice and she decided to sit own next to them. She took off her shoes and set them aside, letting her feet dangle in. She reached down to take some of the water and rubbed her face with it.

She was unfortunately not someone who was very aware of her surroundings, so anyone could easily walk up to her or sneak up on her, and she'd never know.

Outside of House 16

The one thing she absolutely was all for about this place was an actual house! Rinoa lived with the SeeD and she tried not to complain about being constantly interrupted or a living quarter that was nothing like what she grew up in. She loved her friends and the others, but there was just something about having an actual room. Multiple rooms! And a kitchen. It made her miss home and her father so intensely she never expected it, but at the same time, it was comfortable.

She replaced her gray scrubs very quickly with shades of blue, as it was her most comfortable shade. At the moment she was cheerfully sweeping out the indoor of the house. No one had lived in it any time recently, from what she could tell, and Squall certainly wasn't going to think of that. She was going to need to clean and maybe set up some nicer living areas for them. She was in good spirits though, dark eyes bright, smiling up at the sun.

Who: Eddie Brock
Where: In order, the fountain, the woods, and then about the village.
When: November 1rst.
Open to: Peter Parker, Kamala Khan, and you??
Warnings: None Yet, but they're likely. Will update as needed.

No matter how fast you run,
your shadow more than keeps up.
Sometimes it's in front.

Only full, overhead sun
diminishes your shadow.

But that shadow has been serving you.
What hurts you blesses you.
Darkness is your candle.
Your boundaries are your quest. - Rumi, The Big Red Book

YOUR SHADOW MORE THAN KEEPS UP (For Peter)

[It's disorienting. One minute Eddie is walking out of Mrs. Chen's bodega feeling sated listening to Venom try and tempt him with tiny tendrils of emotion, The way I see it, we can do whatever we want. did he walk? Run? It's been weeks since the life foundation and he's settled in with his roommate, his buddy and it's...comforting.

Except then everything was thrown off. It was a big wall of nothing, he lost touch with Venom, touch with himself, there was nothing.

Darkness.

Then he comes up sputtering, one hand through the water. His instincts are purely animal. He's wet, cold, sick, stomach rolling. Every nerve ending is alight with sensations but all the sees is darkness for a moment before light blazes into being and he lets out a snarl What the hell. He feels smacked, on edge. Where were they? What was happening? His body twitches and something swims across his skin and his chest before blinding pain makes him snarl. Flopping over, his hands out. Fight. Run. Flee. Kill. Fight run. flee-

...Venom?

cantcomeoutcantcomeoutcan

Venom!

Painwherepainwherearewekillkillkillthemall-

The body of Eddie Brock, completely out of his control, writhes on the ground for a moment and clenches his fists, twitching, muscles spasming.

Venom! It's me! Relax buddy!

WherearewewhereareweWherearewe...Eddie

Eddie. that's right big guy. It's me. I'm here.

He flops over onto his back, chest heaving. That's how anyone who comes upon him will find him. Trying to calm a terrified alien inside him down. One hand strokes his chest, trying to offer some sort of of comfort to the creature who is...stuck. So he speaks to it. Voice above a whisper. Just like his mother used to do to him.]

...It's okay love...It's okay.

It's okay love. I'm here.

BUT THAT SHADOW HAS BEEN SERVING YOU (For Kamala)

[I don't like this place Eddie. I do not. We are not at home. I have no sense of anything. I can't come out. I'm stuck in you. I want to come out. I'm hungry this isn't okay this isn't okay-

Eddie presses a hand over his chest, stumbling loosely through the forest looking for a road in and out of the village.]

I know. I know you're scared. But I'm here okay? And I'll protect you. I won't let anyone here hurt you. I've got us this time okay?

[I hate being helpless.

Something visibly shifts beneath his skin, but you'd have to be close to see it as Eddie continues his trek looking for a road.]

DARKNESS IS YOUR CANDLE. (OTA)

[This is what he knows. He is stuck. There's no way in or out, and there's a man in teal scrubs pacing through the village looking less and less lost. One pack over his shoulder, he's just...observing.

We're going to have to cross the bridge of feeding you when it comes to it, but for now. Just-let me help you okay? Like I said. I'm going to protect you.]

Everything's gonna be fine love. I've got us.

[The words are mumbled and eddie's back on his game, looking gradually more and more assured as the day passes.]

Water.

It would permanently be his bane.

He had expected his afterlife to be anything but that, if he was to have one at all. After all he'd seen, he'd more suspected that after death came nothing. A lack of existence. An ending, and nothing more. If he ascribed to the Christian notions, he would surely be relegated to their hell for the lives he'd taken, and for a moment, it occurred to him that this was it. A form of eternal torment by the water filling his lungs, his hands finding no purchase. Was he to spend the rest of time dying over and over again in water?

But his body had panicked for him. Fighting against the water, struggling, flailing wildly and completely without skill. He could feel his lungs burning from what he'd inhaled before he'd begun to hold his breath, the ache of a cough wanting to break free but he knew that if he opened his mouth, only more water would rush in--

He coughed. His lungs filled further, and fear took hold of his heart. No. No, he could not spend eternity this way, dying again and again with what looked like sky past the water's surface. Again, he coughed. His lungs were getting heavier, his vision dimmer. No!

And then--

And then, even in the depths, he could breathe, except it... it wasn't breathing. Water was still passing into him, but his vision began to clear and his limbs felt less sluggish and his mind slowly climbed away from the base reactions of survival toward true and rational thought.

He was breathing water. How?

His mind sought reasons, but with his calm came buoyancy. He began to rise toward the surface, a hand reaching out toward the nearest wall, touching stone, able to use it to push upward, and when he broke free and took hold of the stone with his entire arms, he bent over it. He coughed once, twice, water pouring from his mouth and nose in a painful rush, but then he was breathing air. Clear, cool air.

Willpower pulled him over the edge, onto the ground, where he laid on his stomach and relished the simple act of breathing. He'd been short of breath for years, coughing with any exertion, but never had it felt so horrible as that. "Al'ama," he groaned, head turned sideways to rest on the ground before, with excruciating slowness, he pushed himself up to sit. "'Ana kabir fi alsini lihadha."

WHO: Clara Oswald
WHERE: Bunker, Fountain, Around
WHEN: Clara's first few days in game
OPEN TO: Bunker is closed to Frank Castle, but everything else is ota!
WARNINGS: Nothing yet. Will update as needed.

Bunker (Closed to Frank Castle)
For Clara, everything comes to slowly. It doesn't really register for her that she's in a stasis tube or that she's somewhere new. All that her mind connects is that she's freezing cold, and that she isn't particularly comfortable. So her first action is to grumble beneath her breath, flopping a hand against her face to wipe at it groggily. Her head feels heavy, and as dizziness and nausea set in she tries to sit up. A hand flops over to try and grab at something as she doesn't make it at first, and she nearly winds up shrieking as her hand comes in contact with someone. She doesn't, of course, because that would be showing she's not in control of this situation. And she desperately clings hold to the illusion that she is. Even if she can't bring herself to look at who's here with her. Not until she puts forth the proper effort to ensure that she seems as relaxed as possible on the outside, even though she's in full panic mode on the inside.

"If you're the one responsible for this headache, it's probably best that you run. Go on, I'll give you a head start."

Fountain
Okay, so some people wake up here the same as she did, down in the bunker. They're let out. Others aren't as fortunate and wind up being shot out of the fountain. As soon as Clara learns that fact she's quick to make her way to find the fountain, attempting to peer down inside as if it's going to reveal some clues to her. When nothing on the surface pops out she does the only reasonable thing: dives in to try and see if she can swim to the bottom. She winds up emerging from the water several times, each attempt making her look more and more sour.

By the time she ends up climbing out of the fountain and spilling over to lay on the ground, she looks completely livid. It's probably easy to confuse her for a brand new arrival at this point, except for the fact that she picks herself up and leans over the edge of the fountain like she's going to slip back inside.

Zoom Seeds
When Clara spots a bird dropping part of something it's been pecking at, she doesn't ignore the voice in the back of her head telling her how much fun it'll be to check it out. Curiosity is always a dangerous thing, and it's likely no different in this case. It's just good sense to pick up the purple seed and sniff it, trying to decide if it's edible or not. There's a nutty odor, which is good enough for her. If she's managed to survive strange fruit and foods on alien planets, she can manage to survive this too. She takes a bite of the seed and finds it tastes decent, but she saves the other half in case she wants a nibble later.

About five minutes later, Clara can be found moving even faster than normal. Everything is feeling pretty amazing at that point, because as efficient as she generally is, she feels even more so now. And when she's feeling that way, she's in an incredibly good mood. So she hurries her way on over toward the nearest person and engages them in a bit of fast talking. A good conversation never hurt anyone, right?

"How much do you know about things that grow in the wild here? Because I've found something. It might be sharable, not too sure yet. All I know is I haven't felt this energized since the last time I drank coffee on Mars."

WHO: Steve Rogers
WHERE: Village environs
WHEN: Mid to Late October
OPEN TO: Tony Stark + Open
WARNINGS: TBD

Domestic Agendas

[ It's been a long time since Steve lived with just one person. Five years, seventy years, a few months and some change. He tries to make himself invisible as much as possible. Lets Bucky know that he's welcome to bring over Liv and Steve will find somewhere else to be if they need alone time. He reads the books he got from Father Mulcahy and gets accustomed, for the very first time, to sharing space with a cat for more than a couple of days. Steve had wanted a pet as a child, but money and multiple health concerns had nixed that plan before it ever came to fruition. The best he could do back then was sneak scraps to the alley cats that roamed the tenement buildings and belonged to nobody.

He's getting a little better at fishing now, too. Several times a week, he makes the trip down to the river and splits his haul between himself and Bucky and the Inn. His newest project is learning how to gut and cook the things, and anyone who stops by to visit is more than likely going to find themselves at the kitchen table, talked into eating Steve's latest cooking experiment. (At least he's getting fairly decent with stews. Hanging around the Inn pays off sometimes.) ]

Great Minds*

[ Steve has been trying to avoid Tony since the incidence with the breathing problems. He's glad the guy is doing okay, but has decided that trying to mend fences any further would be like slamming his head repeatedly against a brick wall. In other words, a futile exercise that may yield results in the far future but only give himself a headache in the here and now. But he does make a point of widening his jogging ritual so that he heads by the forge twice a day - once in the early morning, and once after dinner. Just in case.

And, if Tony is paying any attention when Steve happens by, he may notice a quiet, continuous stream of useless useless you're nothing emanating from the super soldier's subconscious. ]

Tricky Treats

[ On the 24th of October, at exactly high noon, Steve is frequenting the Inn to catch up on gossip and eat a meal prepared by someone with more culinary skills than he currently has. At first, everything seems normal, but his nose starts to twitch. About a minute after that starts, and he clearly isn't able to help it, a fuzzy little rabbit tail appears in the immediate vicinity of his rear end. How embarrassing.

But not the most embarrassing. Not by a long shot. Because there are also two rabbit ears sprouting from where human ears should be. And, in the midst of the usual 'What the hell' reactions, Steve is probably going to try and slip out the back door and head for his own house. Feel free to stop him on the way and strike up a conversation. He'll be bunny-ed for a whole hour. ]

WHO: Beverly Crusher
WHERE: All over: schoolhouse, hospital, garden by House 20, lake's edge, ANYWHERE
WHEN: mid October
OPEN TO: EVERYONE
WARNINGS: tbd

Beverly had noticed the surprising return of the schoolhouse a few days after the bonfire, though she hadn't yet carved time out of her day to go see it. Now, though, as she passes by on her way to the Inn, she thinks she might be able to. The entire structure seems to have been rebuild almost overnight. She remembers well what it's been like for almost as long as she can remember being here and now here it is looking like new. She'd never really gotten a chance to look at it beforehand. Or, probably more accurately, she hadn't taken the time to before.

So why not now?

With that in mind, she finally steps inside, not really drawn to anything in particular. She's more just interested in seeing what there is to see inside. If she can find anything of interest, any books or other useful items, she'll call it a win. What a grand surprise, flashes through her mind as she makes her way further inside, not at all expecting to find anyone else.

Later on, she takes her normal daily activities, though once she finds out about the mind-linking and realizes it can be turned off, she tries to keep the app off. It... isn't always successful. So she can be found in the hospital, gardening by House 20, or out alone by the lake's edge when she wants to take a breather away from a bunch of people whose thoughts she can hear. Regardless, she is as usual very welcoming and sometimes her thoughts get the better of her if she isn't actively trying to keep a lid on them.

Wouldn't it just be nice if the Observers would stop treating us like mice?

On the 13th, which is the first year she's had an actual date here, she spends a decent amount of time at House 20, mostly full of introspection. Eventually, she takes some time at the Inn to drop off some chamomile leaves and see what else can be done. It's an interesting milestone, both in terms of birthdays and length of time here, and despite whatever new game the Observers are planning, she wants to keep forging friendships and building bonds. What better time to do that than on her special day? So she helps out as she can, asking anyone who steps into the kitchen area if they need anything in particular and doing her best to help if they say yes.
