[MINGLE] Saints & Sinners Masquerade

WHERE: Corn field next to the inn
WHEN: 31 October, all day and night
OPEN TO: ALL - MINGLE
WARNINGS: Please warn as appropriate in your subject lines
NOTES: Please make sure you have read and understand the event details! If you have questions, drop them here. RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED: Put your SCRUBS COLOR in your OTA subject line for folks doing bingo. Time your OTA for the harvest feast, the masquerade, or both. Costume matches and details for folks who did not get matched are here.

This morning, our intrepid villagers awoke to a surprise of the nicer kind: A bundle of clothing left at the foot of their bed, tied with a bow. There is also a note: Put on your new outfit and join the festivities in the corn field next to the inn.

You may be thinking, what corn field next to the inn? The one that sprung up fully-mature overnight, of course.

In the middle of the field, villagers will find an autumn feast: Tables piled with harvest time food and drink, warm and rustic decorations, the day's sunshine fending off any chill in the air.

Tuck in and enjoy, villagers, but take note: Things often look different in the dark, and you might be one of them.

There is that, he has to agree. It's perhaps not much of a comfort but as low-quality as their costumes are they do cover most everything. Which at least saves them some measure of embarrassment.

"It's probably better that way. I'm not sure I'd look particularly good in a skirt. Especially not one as short as some of the ones here."

There are, of course, dress uniforms, but even those aren't exactly skirts. More like tunics, and they're still paired with pants besides, which is just as well as far as he's concerned.

Beverly won't admit it in public, but she happens to think he'd look good in just about anything. Her wry smile grows as she tucks herself up next to him, threading one of her arms around his. At least as close as they can be, given their costumes.

"Oh, I don't know about that," she teases, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I happen to think you'd look quite dashing in a skirt."

She may or may not be imagining him in a Scottish kilt now. Maybe she can convince him to wear something similar once they're back on the Enterprise.

Judging by the raised eyebrow that follows her comment he's not entirely certain he agrees on that front. Admittedly, he's not exactly thinking kilt, but that's mostly to do with the fact that it's not really something that immediately comes to mind when he thinks of skirts.

"Should I be worried that you'll be trying to get me into one, now?"

By the tone of his voice as she tucks herself as close as she can to him, on the other hand, he doesn't sound too concerned either. Uncertain that he really will look good in a skirt, perhaps. But not actually concerned.

Beverly's lips curl up further into a mischievous smirk. She is definitely imagining quite a few things Jean-Luc could wear well. Skirts, kilts, fancy civilian clothes. All manner of things. And she thinks he would look very attractive in all of it.

"A lady's skirt, no," she assures him, still smirking under all of those words. "I promise I'll let you keep your dignity. I was imagining a kilt, like my family would wear." She pauses, her eyes sparkling again. "But if you'd rather try on something else..."
enterprisingheart: (definitely not as planned)

For all that Picard knows well enough that Beverly isn't likely to try and put him into something that he is truly unwilling to try, that smirk absolutely doesn't bode well either. Even despite the slight relief that comes at her assurance that she hadn't meant a lady's skirt.

"Ah, no. A kilt will be just fine, thank you."

How well he'll actually take to kilts is another idea. But he's certainly willing enough to try it, and that's more than could be said for some of the other potential options.
