With the house mostly cleaned, Danny poured all of his remaining energy into getting the first floor set up as a Dojo. The kitchen would remain untouched and usable. The dining room connected to that will be left mostly untouched; with the couch from the family room pushed against the far wall to be used as a make-shift infirmary for anyone who manages to injure themselves. Danny didn't think it was going to happen but he figured it would appease anyone who was a doctor, i.e. Claire, to know that some precautions had been taken. The last two large rooms would be cleared; one room was to be used for sparring, meditation and Danny's lessons while the other room was to be set up with punching bags and practice dummies.
It's a very large undertaking and that didn't even include the obstacle course Rose wanted to put outside or the targets Danny wanted to set up so he, and anyone else, could learn archery. There was a lot to do but at least they had all the time in the world.
Danny could be found at different stages of his projects throughout the month: attempting to use the cushion from his bed to pad the sparring room floor, cleaning (which was a task that was never truly complete), staring at the area around the house to figure out how they were going to set things up outside, grumbling about wanting his I-pod back, swinging sticks to see if he can use them as practice swords, making an open & closed sign for the front door and a handful of other tasks where it was impossible to tell what Danny was trying to do.
A few days into the project, Danny sent out a text for help and would be on the lookout for anyone who was eager to lend a hand or interested in training.
It made perfect sense for it to be there.
Except that it didn't.
The moment that Danny touched the melon it vanished in a puff of white smoke. He coughed and waved the offending air away before looking down at the empty ground. "What?" A block of ice settled in the pit of his stomach chilling him through. "This is awesome." He paused again, looking confused. It absolutely wasn't awesome, it was awful. Danny had no idea what he was saying.
"I'm perfectly fine. " His hand briefly pulled over his mouth. "Fuck." He swore loudly and kicked at the ground. He had no idea what was going on and for the next hour he was going to have a hard time communicating with people.
Equipment in the Dojo will be sparse and non-existent for a while, it will be reasonable and based on threads Danny has with people or handwaved talking. The list of all equipment will be on his Sixth Iteration information post HERE and it is important to note that he will not be making everything he thinks he's going to make because he doesn't know how to make most of these things. Please check the list if you'd like to write a thread in the Dojo, assume wooden floors and basic drywall unless noted.]

Danny's free hand trailed along her hair line before curling against the back of her neck and pulling her into another kiss.
Warmth blossomed in his chest as well as his groin as the pleasant heat of the pool surrounded them. A low hungry growl rumbled through his throat as they kissed.
He didn't want to stop and there was no guessing what he wanted to do next.

This so wasn't how she'd expected the day to play out. And she still didn't really know where it was going, but she didn't care. Sometimes, the body just knew what to do. Sometimes.
She coiled one arm around his shoulders, entangling her leg around his as she kissed back.
The vampire, the creature known only for its consumption, wanted nothing more than to be consumed.
Sam would have found the thought very poetic. If she was of a mind to analyze it. The funny thing was, she never really thought of herself as poetic. But it didn't matter. Not right now.

Time slowed back down and Danny held Sam firmly against his chest. His breathing was heavy but steady as they lounged along a rock with all but their shoulders beneath the water.
He pressed a kiss against the top of her head and inhaled the scent that clung to her hair. He liked the red, it was sexy as hell and Danny really didn't know why she hid it. He didn't really care though, it got to see it, and that warmed a cold place inside of him.

This was different.
It was so different that she knew once her brain caught up with the rest of her, she would have a hard time trying to parse out how step 1 led to step 2 led to step 3. And maybe that's why she wasn't ready to let her over-analytic mind kick in again.
Not just yet.
Not when she was enjoying the unusual serenity that fell over her, wrapping her up like a blanket. She lay still against Danny's chest, feeling his pulse pound in hers. She liked the way that felt. Liked pretending that it was her own. It expressed the way she felt, in a way she couldn't. Excited and exhausted and strangely at peace.
She felt his kiss on her hair and turned her face, setting her chin against his collarbone. Anything she said now would absolutely for sure ruin the moment. So she settled with a very, very simple, "Hi."

She was strong but it wasn't the kind of strength he was used to seeing. It wasn't physical strength or even emotional strength but something inside of herself that she didn't even realize was there. She didn't think she could do anything but she kept going.
Inner strength.
It was beautiful. She was beautiful.
Danny knew that he'd fuck up whatever this was the moment he spoke, which was why he said nothing for a long few minutes. His thumb glides along her shoulder as he focuses on the tired weight to his limbs. "How are you feeling?"
no subject
Well. It was something more than mere fondness. Something she didn't have a name for just yet.
She pressed her palms against his chest, sitting up a little bit, with her legs still wrapped around him. Her braid had come completely undone, leaving a mess of tangles around her shoulders. The heat from the water, from Danny's skin, had left the wispy hair around her temples sightly curled. The Little Mermaid, she wasn't. But something in the way he was looking at her made her feel kind of sexy.
A 'you make me feel like a natural woman' sort of sexy.
"What about you?" she asked. What she really, really wanted to ask was close to the surface of her thoughts, but she tamped it down for the moment.
no subject
"I'm not sure there are words for it." He rested his hand on her shoulder before running the tips of his fingers down her bicep, pausing at her elbow.
"You're beautiful. I wish you could see it the way I do."
He was kind of a dork.

Sam dropped her forehead against his chest a moment, to hide the smile. Okay, she really needed to ask. "Danny..."
She looked up at him again, wondering how the hell to put it delicately. But then again, she was never delicate, was she?
"Have you ever...done this...before, I mean?" She overlapped her palms, resting her chin on the back of her hand. "Not a critique, just a question."
no subject
"I haven't really had time to focus on this kind of thing."
He met Sam's gaze, a look of confusion edging around his features.
"Why?"
no subject
She traced the pad of her thumb along his cheekbone. He was so...pretty. It wasn't a word she often applied to boys. Especially boys with beards.
It just suited him.
All of him. His body was...just awesome.
Maybe that was the crux of it. She wanted rules that...meant this might happen again. But she was pretty sure that hook-ups were a one-time thing. Weren't they? Or was this a hook-up at all? She'd never felt...not back when she was on the club scene. Of course, the only boy who'd ever paid her a bit of attention was also a fairly harsh critic.
no subject
He shivered as her finger ran along his chin. That... shouldn't feel that nice.
"What rules?" He finally asked, when it didn't seem like Sam was going to explain herself. Danny was on new ground and had no idea what he was doing. He only knew that he felt amazing, Sam felt amazing and he wanted to keep feeling that way.
no subject
But he didn't know. He hadn't done this before. And Sam had...barely even bothered. In that way, they were sort of a perfect set. Equally matched in their complete cluelessness.
A smile ghosted across her lips
She set both palms on his chest again. "Like...when we get out of the water...which I have no intention of doing for a long time...are things going to go right back to the way they were or...are they going to change?"
no subject
"Sam, things have already changed. You can't just avoid things changing." Maybe he didn't exactly know what they were talking about but there was some topics that Danny felt very strongly about.
Whatever happened next, things couldn't go back to how they were.
no subject
She couldn't very well ask him if he was going to ignore her and pretend it had never happened.
Maybe it would be easier if she could.
She set her cheek against his shoulder. Her brain was starting to unfreeze and she didn't like it.
no subject
He wouldn't force anything on her or declare anything that made her uncomfortable. Danny was happy and even if that happiness only lasted this moment, he'd treasure it.
"You're still my student and you better listen to me during lessons." He stated in a matter of fact tone. "So no distractions while we train."
There was absolutely going to be distractions but Danny could pretend that his libido wasn't completely enthralled by Sam.
no subject
She nodded slightly, which turned into a little nuzzle against his arm. It felt very, very comfortable, being here. But then, Sam had never exactly had the whole 'cuddle experience' after.
For the first time, she was getting the appeal.
"Okay," she muttered, closing her eyes. "But I'm not calling you 'Yoda' any more. I've seen you naked now and you're way too hot to be a Muppet."
no subject
He leaned forward and inhaled the sweet scent of her hair.
"Thanks." A low warm chuckle rumbled through his chest. "I think." He was curious what her new nickname was going to be but that'd have to likely wait for another day.
"We should head back soon." He paused and gently bit his lower lip. "Do you want to stay over tonight?" Danny was more or less asking her to sleep on the floor with him because that's where he slept... He was also begging both Rose and Elena to tease the crap out of him.
no subject
She looked up at him and for the briefest flicker, it was all gone. That mask she wore, that face that said she'd seen too much and done too much to ever be wide-eyed again. It was all gone. And she was there, looking very much her age.
Utterly baffled.
It was gone in the next moment.
But the shock remained. She'd never been asked that before. "Well," she said, "I guess that depends. On what you want your room mates to know." Because yes, Sam knew both Elena and Rose. Not well. But well enough. She waggled her eyebrows, trying to look playful. But she really hoped he wasn't going to...change his mind.
Guys did that. A lot.
no subject
There was another long awkward pause.
"I sleep on the floor." For full disclosure.
no subject
She didn't want to give that up.
"I've slept in worse places," she replied. Which was true enough. It didn't matter though. She planted a kiss on his shoulder. "I think I can handle the floor."
no subject
"We should head back."
He didn't want someone to find them both naked in the hot springs, THAT would be awkward.
no subject
With one final, languid kiss, she pulled away, drifting back into the water, then moving over to one of the ledges to collect her clothing.
She got the funny feeling that maybe she was at the start of something. It was a nice change. Her life had too many closed doors in it.
no subject
He hadn't felt like this before. He thought he had something similar to this but... well, he was here, not in New York.
"Ready?"
no subject
She turned to look over at him, across the line of her shoulder.
"Ready for anything," she replied, with a smirky smile.

The day had taken a very interesting turn.
[ooc: Do you want to handwave from here and start a training thread or her talking to him about the biting thing? Even a morning after where they wake up in his room? LET ME KNOW!]
