With the house mostly cleaned, Danny poured all of his remaining energy into getting the first floor set up as a Dojo. The kitchen would remain untouched and usable. The dining room connected to that will be left mostly untouched; with the couch from the family room pushed against the far wall to be used as a make-shift infirmary for anyone who manages to injure themselves. Danny didn't think it was going to happen but he figured it would appease anyone who was a doctor, i.e. Claire, to know that some precautions had been taken. The last two large rooms would be cleared; one room was to be used for sparring, meditation and Danny's lessons while the other room was to be set up with punching bags and practice dummies.
It's a very large undertaking and that didn't even include the obstacle course Rose wanted to put outside or the targets Danny wanted to set up so he, and anyone else, could learn archery. There was a lot to do but at least they had all the time in the world.
Danny could be found at different stages of his projects throughout the month: attempting to use the cushion from his bed to pad the sparring room floor, cleaning (which was a task that was never truly complete), staring at the area around the house to figure out how they were going to set things up outside, grumbling about wanting his I-pod back, swinging sticks to see if he can use them as practice swords, making an open & closed sign for the front door and a handful of other tasks where it was impossible to tell what Danny was trying to do.
A few days into the project, Danny sent out a text for help and would be on the lookout for anyone who was eager to lend a hand or interested in training.
It made perfect sense for it to be there.
Except that it didn't.
The moment that Danny touched the melon it vanished in a puff of white smoke. He coughed and waved the offending air away before looking down at the empty ground. "What?" A block of ice settled in the pit of his stomach chilling him through. "This is awesome." He paused again, looking confused. It absolutely wasn't awesome, it was awful. Danny had no idea what he was saying.
"I'm perfectly fine. " His hand briefly pulled over his mouth. "Fuck." He swore loudly and kicked at the ground. He had no idea what was going on and for the next hour he was going to have a hard time communicating with people.
Equipment in the Dojo will be sparse and non-existent for a while, it will be reasonable and based on threads Danny has with people or handwaved talking. The list of all equipment will be on his Sixth Iteration information post HERE and it is important to note that he will not be making everything he thinks he's going to make because he doesn't know how to make most of these things. Please check the list if you'd like to write a thread in the Dojo, assume wooden floors and basic drywall unless noted.]

"Why are you hunting so close to town anyway?" He could see the edge of the forest and beyond that buildings. It didn't seem like a good place to start hunting when the chance of interruption was so high.
Danny stepped forward and the frog jump. It landed on his arm and then bounded to a nearby tree. "What the-" He felt an odd tingling sensation against his skin as he looked for whatever had touched him.

She saw the movement, but didn't quite catch sight of the animal itself.
"What, did it sting? Looked like a bug to me."
no subject
"Not a bug." He frowned down at his arms and felt a tingling sensation spread across his skin. "I think it was a frog."
He'd never run into the candy frogs before nor was he the kind of person to cry out for help, even when his arm was slowly growing numb.
no subject
"Wait, a frog? What did it look like?" She pocketed her knives and began her controlled-falling descent.
no subject
Then his arm began to feel numb and it was spreading to his shoulders. "Ah fuck." He tried to move his fingers and found that he couldn't. "What the hell is happening?" Danny had never encountered a frog like this before.
"Fuck."

“Blue is bad. Blue is poison. Okay, don’t freak out,” she advised Danny, hands out as though she was being a calming presence herself.
“You’re gonna have some trouble moving. We need to get you into town for the cure. I want you to walk as far as you can, okay? But you’re gonna want to stay close to me and low to the ground, because you will fall and it probably won’t be fun for either of us when I try to catch you.”

They break through the forest and Danny feels his knees give out.
He hadn't realized that he was falling until he hit something and she silently cursed himself for his weakness.
Fucking frogs.

When he started to fall Steph was right there, shifting under him to catch her on her shoulder so she could carry him by the arm.
This turned out to be a terrible move. Steph lost her balance, and discovered that having no control over his legs meant that Danny couldn't help carry any of his own weight. She grumbled to herself as she pushed him off of her, considering for a moment the best tactic from here. She was only so physically strong.
She decided to (gently) turn him onto his back and drag him by the shoulders.

He thought of Colleen briefly and then more pressing thoughts replaced the memory.
"Ah-" He found it difficult to speak and his arm ached but they were moving. Everything about this situation sucked.
no subject
"Crap, you can't talk anymore, can you? Can you do anything?" While she waited for an answer she decided to continue dragging him. The faster they got him to a cure the better.

The poison was spreading faster than Danny thought possible and he was turning into a paralyzed noodle.

His pulse was sluggish, but steady. She put a hand in front of his noise to check if he was breathing and found that her hands were too hot and dirty for her to really be able to tell.
"Goddammit." She rubbed her hands frantically on her pants and tried again. His breathing was as sluggish as his pulse. What could she do? Was there anything she could do besides sit here and wait?
"I'm gonna be really, really pissed off if you die," she informed her patient. She'd only watched one man die this close to her, and she didn't think she could handle a second.

He closed his eyes, the last movement that he managed as he focused on centering himself. It didn't take long for him to shift into a state that allowed his body to fight whatever was coursing through it.
They had some extra time but Danny couldn't move and he wasn't sure what else to do.
no subject
"I'm sorry," she said quietly, doing her best not to cry.
She couldn't have known that monitoring his pulse was about to give him a 12 hour adrenaline rush.
no subject
"Calm. Down."
He exhaled and continued to focus.
no subject
"You scared the crap out of me. If you weren't flat on your back I swear to god I'd punch you in the face."
no subject
"I'll be fine."
He needed a little bit more time and focus but hopefully she wouldn't be too freaked out now.

“Do you know how close your heart came to stopping? Because I do. Intimately. If you’re going to get yourself killed at least have the decency to do it when I don’t have to watch.” She remembered Orpheus, his blood on her face and his body slumping to the floor, and shivered. She needed to rescind that SOS, so she focused on that instead.

It never stopped him and it wasn't going to stop him now.
After about ten minutes Danny shifted and groaned slightly. He managed to wiggle his fingers and toes and felt for the first time that he might have a chance to stand. "Hey, kid." He looked up at her. "Thanks for waiting this out with me." She didn't really have too but Danny was grateful.

“Somebody had to make sure you didn’t end up hosting more frogs.”
no subject
"I think I should be able to walk soon."
He might go back to the Dojo. He's exhausted after this mess.
no subject
“Well, keep working on it. It’s not like I have anywhere else to be.”
no subject
"I think I can stand now."
Danny didn't know how much time had passed but as he pushed himself to his feet he noticed that the sun had noticeably dipped in the sky. "We should probably head back."
no subject
"Yeah, we should. It's getting cold."
end?
Danny flashed her a brief smile before taking one step and then another. He was slow at first, uncertain but after a bit he got the hang of using his limbs again.
