[MINGLE] Wendi-go-go to the inn

WHERE: 6I Village and Inn
WHEN: 27-31 July
OPEN TO: ALL - Mingle
NOTES: The Wendigo threatening the village will be killed mid 28 July, with a Blue Lily, per these threads. Plot details here. Note: The final fight is close enough to be seen from the upstairs inn windows.
WARNINGS: Wendigo attack mingle, please warn in comment headers if discussing violence, gore, or related trauma. Possible mentions of character death.

The urgent warnings come from villagers returning south from the lake: a creature twice the size of a man, antlered and voracious. Larger than any they've seen on the plains, stalking its way to the main village. Some might have their own names for this hunger in a skin of shadow; others might remember that it was the first to claim a life, in their village's short history.

Whatever context one has for it, best to secure all pets and loved ones before it arrives. With weapons and food stores at the inn, the call goes out to gather — And to bring back any tools, because there's no telling what doors and windows can do to stop such a creature.

She nods seriously. This is one truth Kamala has learned in doing this that is worth sharing. She absolutely lives by it. "Powers don't make you good. Your choices do." That's what those guys are missing. It's what she could have missed too if not for having such amazing teachers along the way. Since it's relevant Kamala asks,"Have you decided what you're going to do yet?" She's ready to play interference if need be. Call it teen hero solidarity.

"With great power comes great responsibility," Peter murmurs in reply, a bit of sadness flickering across his somber expression. He's thought about Ben a lot since he got here, about doing the right thing, but the truth is that he really doesn't know the answer to Kamala's question. And maybe that's an answer all by itself.

"I should probably stay," he concedes, face pinching. "It doesn't feel right. You know? But I've— I've been wrong before. Really wrong." And there is no Iron Man here to rescue them all if Pete screws the pooch. "Ms. Romanoff said I should stay..." He lifts his gaze to Kamala. "What do you think?"

She nods because she does get it. None of this feels 100% right. That would be having their powers and handling this directly. She's positive between her and Spider-Man? They can handle anything. She's less confident in Peter and Kamala without a plan.

"I think we should keep an eye on what's going on out there. If the people who have a plan to fight end up losing? We step in and fight. That's my plan."

That wasn't the answer Peter wanted to hear, would love any excuse to rocket out of the back door and fling himself into danger, but he can't deny that Kamala's plan is the only part of this whole situation that's felt even remotely right yet. It's sensible when he doesn't want to be sensible, but that doesn't make it wrong.

Slowly, he nods, heaving out a slow sigh. Sergeant Barnes is out there, and he's at least got that arm even if he's not superhero-level strong anymore. That has to count for something. That has to give them some kind of advantage.

"Let's go upstairs," he suggests with a jerk of his chin toward the hall. "Maybe we can see it from up there."

end scene?

"Okay." Kamala agrees without hesitation. Truthfully she's relieved he's going with the sensible plan. She doesn't think she could avoid backing him up if he got in over his head. She doesn't really have anything to fight with here so she doesn't like her chances. She follows the movement up the stairs and to hopefully a better vantage point to watch this all play out for better or worse. Sadly, worse by the time this is all over.
