001: Slippery when wet

Fountain/Inn Nov -17th
The cold water comes as a shock to Danny's system. He had been... well not really safe or sound for that matter but at least warm in Colombia. The last thing he remembered was calling Grace and talking to her before the guards had caught on and dragged him outside to deliver a beating. He had blacked out in the middle of it and now he is surrounded by freezing water. He blinks and sees the light far above him. It feels too far but he has no choice but to swim for it. An eternity later he breaks the surface and gulps in cold air. He can see the edge of the pool and swims for it even as he can feel his strength leaving him by the second. He manages to pull himself out of the fountain, soaking wet and for a moment he just kneels at the side of it, looking around the area.

He wants to just lay down and rest, he feels so tired. And cold. His whole body shakes with the cold and it is hard to think and to breathe. But he sees a house with lights and he feels like he can almost feel the warmth reaching for him. He somehow manages to get to his feet and stumbles towards the inn. By the time he gets to the door, he doesn't have enough strength left to raise his hand and push the door open and instead he just collapses against it.

After he gets dragged inside and changes to warm and dry clothes he will be hiding next to the most convenient heat source until he feels human again.

Inn+Outside Until 22nd
Danny spends a lot of time at the Inn. Even days later he feels like he hasn't quite gotten warm again and he likes staying somewhere it is nice and warm. The fact that there are people here who can explain where he is and what is happening is a bonus as well. After a few days, he starts to get a little bit of cabin fever though and packs on as much clothing as he can before he sets out to explore the village and get a feel for the place.

"It's good, well I think so at least. It tends to take on the flavor of whatever spices you use with it," she explained as she began to shrug out of her coat. She draped it over the back of a chair as she looked over to the man. "I... Yes, thank. Something warm that will help me regain the feeling in my fingers." She thought for a second and then realized she hadn't even introduced herself to him. "Oh! I'm Diana and again, thank you for holding the door open for me."

"Danny." He offers his hand. "Nice to meet you." Then he heads off to get them both something warm to drink. It isn't coffee or hot chocolate like he is used to but it is better than nothing and it will help her warm up.

"Did you hunt them?" He asks when he comes back, offering her one mug.

"It's nice to meet you too, Danny," she said as she grasped his hand and shook it. He seemed nice, she decided as she watched him wander off to get them both a drink. Though, she had yet to met anyone she would consider malicious, though it was possible that they were just able to act very well.

She sat down just as Danny came back with drinks for them. "Thank you," she said as she took the mug from him and cupped it between her hands. "And yes, there seems to be an abundance of them. When the weather calms down some, I plan on heading out to see if I can track some of the deer I've seen around."

"Yeah? What do you use to hunt them?" He looks around. "I am guessing there isn't a whole ton of guns here?" He settles into a chair by her and gives a warm smile as he listens to what she has to say.

"I haven't seen many guns around. I use a bow and arrow, which is good enough. Buy, it's a community weapon so it isn't always available. I was thinking about trying my hand at making one sometime." She hadn't ever made a weapon on her own, but she had seen them crafted back on the island." have you ever used a bow and arrow before? "

"I actually have, though guns are a lot more common by my time. Not so much for hunting. I don't really hunt, it has never been needed when I am from. Though here might be a different story." He sips his mug. "You need help?"

"I have never been very fond of guns," Diana admitted with a slight shake of her head. And she'd never needed to be since she hadn't ever needed to use one. "I've never actually shot one." She took a sip of her drink and smiled at him. "Thank you, by the way. And of course, if you'd like, you're more than welcome to join me."

"It's a tool, I don't like them either and I don't think people should have them for fun, but for some people, it is an important job tool and that is different." He smiles. "If you don't think I'll just slow you down. I am not that good."

"Hmmm. Perhaps, I just know there are many who use them for reasons that have nothing to do with their jobs and it's normally the innocent who are hurt by them." She shook her head though and flashed him a quick smile. "Of course I don't. You'll never learn if I thought that way."

She thought for a moment and then nodded her head. "Perhaps once the weather clears up?"

"That is true. I don't think those people should have guns. And us cops wouldn't have to use them nearly as much if they didn't."

He smiles at her suggestion. "I'd like that. Do you have an extra bow?"

"You are a police officer? Then you have my respect." Truly, she knew how the police put their lives on the line daily and knew that they truly didn't have to... And so she respected the work they did. In a way, they sort of did the same thing. "Do you plan on doing something like that here?"

Diana's smile grew. "I think there might be an extra one but if there isn't, we can always work on making one for you."

He smiles at that. "Thank you. That really means a lot. And I don't know. I don't know what this place has already and what we need. But I'd like to contribute somehow."

He can't help but smile wider as she does. "I have never done that, that would be fun."
