[who let the dogs out?]

WHO: Major Lilywhite
WHERE: Major/Ravi's cabin, around the village
WHEN: Mid-October
OPEN TO: All, specific starter for Ravi
WARNINGS: PUPPIES.

Major had been lured outside by the sound of whimpering. Every ounce of softness and kindness he'd ever held in his body had been tingling like a small fire, spreading over the expanse of his body from head to toe at the sound. When he had opened the door, two boxes were sitting side-by-side on the porch - one about half the size of the other and, to his surprise, moving around like one of those fake ferret toys for cats, the kind that's glued to a mechanical ball that moves around.

Only a little less erratic.

He took the stationary box in first, setting it off to the side of the living room, before returning to get the one that had now seemed to calm down a little bit. As he lifted it, there was a quiet yelp from the inside, and Major knew in an instant what the mystery box's contents were, without having to remove the lid.

He sets the box down in the middle of the living room, carefully lifting up the cover to reveal the small, Basset Hound puppy gazing up at him inside. At the sight of his face, it lets out another yelp, this one happier but still pleading, and tries to stand on its hind legs to see outside the open top of the box. It doesn't quite have the hang of what it means to be coordinated yet, and so it tumbles backwards, causing a very loud "AWW!!" to come rushing out of Major's mouth.

He reaches inside, carefully scooping the puppy up in his arms. Once near enough, it begins to lick his face and squirm around in his grip. As Major's trying to check the box for any other dog-related items, the puppy manages to wiggle its way out of his arms and, before he can manage to do anything to stop it, runs straight out of the door that Major's foolishly left open by mistake.

He opens his mouth to shout a name, but realizes he doesn't have one at the ready, so he shouts the only thing he can think of:

"HEY! ... HEY YOU! COME BACK!" as he scrambles to his feet and out the door, chasing after the bounding, long-eared puppy.

Clary laughed as the puppy licked her jaw. It was adorable and she didn't want to let it go. She wobbled a bit before sitting down on the ground with the puppy in her lap. She scratched behind his ear with renewed vigor as she addressed Major.

"If it isn't Major Nathan." She was tense and needed the outlet. She'd find a way to thank him later. "This guy yours? He's cute. You guys have the same chin." She said as she scratched under the puppies chin.

"Well. I think this little guy has the chance to grow a beard when he's older." Yeah, Clary will have to find a way to apologize for Major for all the lip. It's been a very rough couple of days.

"Isn't Nathan short for Nathaniel?" She posed back to him with a snarky grin. Her fingers continued to brush against the puppies head, behind the ears, under the chin and everywhere else she could reach.

"On nice. Yeah. I'm still sorta hoping one of those boxes brings me a pizza. I might be hoping for a pizza box." Clary frowned. "Yes people love puppies. Ever heard of puppy therapy?" She didn't think she would have needed puppy therapy but she was now happy that she had the chance to sit there and pet the most lovable puppy in the world.

"I don't remember Ravi having a dangling chin. Unless there is another Ravi here I don't know about." She teased. "Anyway, have you had a puppy before? Wait, does he have a name?"
babyhunter: (I love you Coffee)

Clary grimaced. "That's true. Whenever I got in trouble my full name would come out and it was always a little unsettling. Even now, as an adult, it sends chills up my spine." It was the most uncomfortable thing to hear, more so without warning. Of course, Clary had more reasons to dislike her full name but that really depended on the surname that was used.

She continued to pet the pup with affection, her smile bright and eager as she cupped the basset hounds face and wiggled his large floppy ears.

Clary looked up at Major with a smile. "Minor? Really? Why not call him something else if you already have a dog with that name at home." Since this wasn't Minor. Though Clary realized that she had a very unique opinion about pets because she was never allowed to have one. "You can name him Ursa and then you'd be Ursa Major together." She started talking in a baby voice as she looked down at the basset hound. "Isn't that right."

This was definitely cheering her up.

Clary's frown returned.

Her focus narrowed on the basset hound, hoping that somehow the eager puppy could bring her smile back. "I'm sorry." Her voice was devoid of it's usual snark. She knew what it felt like to lose someone you cared about. Even if it was a puppy and not a person, Clary felt a sympathetic cord pull in her chest. It was frustrating and annoying and she thought that it was stupid.

"Minor 2.0." Interesting. She sighed and pressed her face against the pups head, only to receive a lick across her face. It was a little gross.

"Thank you. I am an art student and ooze creativity." She looked up at Major with a small smile. "So how did you get this little thing? He looks like he'll be a handful. Is there dog food here? I guess dogs eat everything." Clary wasn't sure how that would work and focusing on the details helped her forget how she was feeling.

Clary listened while her hand continued to run over Minor's back. She listened though she wasn't sure what to make of the story. A man and his dog? She didn't think it mattered where the dog was from for someone to make a connection with it. In that respect, she's glad that he and Ravi had a dog now.

Every boy should grow up with a dog.

She had waited as he recounted the event, the bright green hue of her gaze understanding. "Dog's can eat meat that hasn't been cooked and more or less what we eat. No chocolate or chemicals. Which are two things that are hard to come by here so I don't think it'll be much of a problem. I think dairy is bad for them too but I don't know." It wasn't that Clary had ever owned a dog. She just knew a little bit about them because she had always wanted one.

"I think so." Clary replied with a huff of laughter. Louis CK. It's been awhile since she's heard that name. Was he still famous? All Clary remembered was that his skits were all super depressing and usually made fun of how sad his life was. She's also fairly sure that he was bald or balding.

"Jude makes paper. I don't know if he'll keep at it through winter but I have some from him." And she's going to use it how she likes.

Clary was an artist. She needed something to draw with and on. It was the only release that she had when everything got too stressful to handle. It was more difficult here but Clary was naturally stubborn. "Yeah. I can't believe I'm saying this but I miss Tacobell." Among other fast food restaurants.

Clary stared at Major. "Peroxide?" Was that in chocolate? She didn't understand the connection. She knew that there was a lot of junk in the food that she ate but she never spent a lot of time thinking about it. There were always other things that she needed to think about.

Then it clicked. "OH! To make the dog throw up or kill it if you give it to much..." She started at Major for a few seconds while petting the dog. She didn't want to give him up, now more than ever.

Her lips cracked into a smile.

"Very gross." Clary paused before steering the conversation somewhere that didn't make her hungry. "Can I walk with you back to your place?" She wanted to keep petting the puppy. She might also want to visit again. Just the puppy. Not Ravi or Major.

Clary was fairly sure that peroxide makes everyone throw up. It was one of the chemicals that they suggested that you put behind a child-lock door. Her mom had, which lead Clary to believe that it was toxic. It's the sort of thing that, as a child, Clary thought she'd learn as she grew up. Now that she was grown up, she didn't understand how adults knew anything.

She missed google.

She smiled as she took his hand. Minor fidgeted some but was happily flopped in Clary's arms. She had to lean over to grab her daggers which she slipped carefully into the thin piece of fabric that she lashed to her belt. It wasn't a sheath but it worked and the pointy parts were away from the puppy.

"Lead on."

"I'm good."

She had it all worked out. Minor wiggled in her arms but stopped the moment Clary began to scratch beneath his chin. Considering how small Clary was, the basset hound made her look even smaller. It was amazing that she managed to carry him at all.

"Yes." Clary flashed him a smile before rubbing her cheek affectionately against the pups head. She'd give it back to Major... eventually.

"I'm at the inn. It's easier." Also less depressing compared to living in a large house alone. It's been a struggle since Isabelle has left and Clary wasn't interested in putting herself in situations where she was reminded that her friend was gone.

Her hand continued to rub at the puppies belly as she looked over at Major. "Why? You looking to stalk me? I'll kick your ass so hard." Her tone was light but fierce.
babyhunter: (Please stop talking)

"It's not always a bad thing." She remarked before turning her attention back to the puppy. He was panting happily and beginning to wiggle in Clary's arms. She might not be able to hold him forever but she'll make it to Major's house before she sets him down. No point of catching the pup if she can't return him home. "You should. They have luck every ... lunch." Who could resist the call of food?

"No."

Clary's expression and tone fell instantly. "I don't have a roommate." She had one until they vanished. "If you want to meet people just hang out there. There are people there all the time." It was a little annoying at times but Clary also liked it. It kept her mind from wandering.

"Yeah." Clary agreed though it wasn't obvious that she was paying attention to what Major was saying. There was a lot going through her mind right now and she didn't want to think about 75% of it. Right now she wanted to focus on the puppy in her arms.

"You'll also get feed." Which Clary guessed was something that Major might need help with. He looked a little too soft to be on his own in a survival setting.
