12 Building A Boat~! [OPEN MINGLE]
WHO: Moana
WHERE: 7i Beach Area [Also around the 7i Boat House & Town looking for stuff]
WHEN: Month of September
OPEN TO: EVERYONE [Feel free to make top posts if you'd like as well. Moana will hit everyone up but this is open to whatever people want.]
WARNINGS: None

Throughout the month, Moana was at the beachfront assembling different parts of a boat. She had the design sketched on few pieces of paper though the sketches were not very good.
She had spoken to a lot of people about building a boat and will accept everyone's help with its construction. They needed pieces of wood, someone to build the hull, stronger materials for the sail, which meant that Moana was back to collecting reeds and stalks that wouldn't absorb the water as it sprayed up from the ocean. She really needed a better drawing of the boat and its design, even if she was bad at trying to explain what she wanted to build. The hull needed to be shaped from a single piece of wood to avoid leaks. As well as the side-canoe that would help keep the craft balanced on rocky waves.
Everything had to be collected from the new parts of the island since it would take too much effort and time to try to carry all the pieces through the now small breach between the canyon walls. When Moana wasn't working the boat she'd watch others work and encourage those around her to join. It was something like an event. If there were enough people come night fall Moana would start a large bone fire and cook fish. She would welcome others to lend a hand in any part of any process. Much like her home, she wanted to build a community of people working together and helping.
She could be spotted around the 7i boathouse looking for any useful materials, as well as rummaging through the other houses on the way back to the beach. She also brought a handful of tools from the inn, including a grappling hook that she had found in the inn's storage closet. Moana wasn't sure how anyone might use it but it looked useful enough to take with her.

"Did you do these kind of trips a lot back home?" There is a touch of concern in his voice, but as she really doesn't know him it might come across more as curiosity.
Steve frowns at the description of the things at the top of the canyon. They sounds much more like bugs than the birds or drones he had been imagining. That was more problematic, although it sounded like they already had a solution simply by dressing with something thick enough from allowing the bugs to enter. Sill, as he wouldn't be climbing up there anytime soon it was a moot point for now, but something he'd definitely keep in mind.
Smiling with her, he nods. "I can understand that, it calls to me as well, ever since I was a young boy." Living on the beach, his parents had a hard time keeping him from the water, but he swears he could swim on his own before he could walk. "I've been all over my world, but there is no better place to be than on the water."

"Not exactly. One. I was sailing before I arrived here." She didn't know what happened to the boat or to Maui but she was confident that everything would work out. In a way, she had to be, or she wouldn't have the strength to keep going like she was now.
"Itiiti." Moana turned and looked down at the oinking pig. "Be back in an hour. Okay?" The pig snorted and wiggled his tail like he understood.
She looked up at Steve with a brighter smile. "Really?" She knew a few others who felt connected to the ocean in some sense but it was always nice to meet someone else. "I've always wanted to travel all over the world. Maybe when I get home, I'll get that chance."

It's impossible not to smile and chuckle at the little pig. "I have a feeling he's going to be a very good helper."
He nods in confirmation. "Yeah, I pretty much grew up on the water, mostly surfing and then when I was old enough I joined the Navy. I got to see the world that way, mostly by way of the ocean although not always."

Itiiti was a good pig and he'd be able to search out fruits, roots and mushrooms for Steve. Though if Steve didn't stop him, he might also eat what he finds.
"Surfing?" Moana blinked. For all her experiance with the water, she had never surfed in the sense that Steve was talking about. "You mean like on a canoe?" Her hands shaped the canoe as that would surf across the water.

Steve's an equal opportunity gatherer... He'll let Itiiti eat some of what he sources out, it's only fair to pay him for his help.
At her mention of a canoe, Steve shakes his head. "No, more of just a board shaped like a flat and elongated almond with a fins on the bottom." Looking out over the water, he imagines that when the tide comes in they might get some fairly decent waves. "Tell you what, you make it back here in one piece, assuming you don't find a way out, and we'll make surfboards to 'dance on the water' with."
no subject
It was a good feeling.
Before Moana could say more Itiiti had taken it upon himself to start ushering Steve towards the tree line. Oinking with each step, he nudged Steve and then headed for the trees without him.
"You better go, Itiiti won't wait." She smiled and watched Steve with a wave before she'd return back to her project.

Looking down at the little pig, Steve laughed. "He's quite the slave driver, isn't he?" Action was with the words though and he was already moving, following Itiiti to the trees. Pausing at the edge of the treeline, Steve turned and seeing her wave he waved back. He'd be back in a couple hours with some more supplies for her and some stowed away for himself as well.
