11 - Lost Heart [OPEN]
WHO: Moana
WHERE: 7I – Ocean
WHEN: August 3rd
OPEN TO: EVERYONE
WARNINGS: None
Sad Thoughts & Losses
Small earthquakes had begun to tremble through the two villages but Moana didn't pay them any attention. She crossed the breach and made her way towards the ocean that rested on the other side, hoping to find a friend waiting for her.
She stood at the shore, her feet bare while the wind tugged softly at her grass skirts. There was so much that Moana wanted to ask the ocean but she couldn't find her voice. She knew that it wouldn't reply to her, she was too far from the home that she knew. Frustration rose in her chest and she kicked at the water, sending thick droplets into the air around her.
"Why aren't you here!?" She yelled at the water before falling to her hands and knees. Everything hit her at once: the loss of her friends, the loss of the heart and the constant reminder of her failure that hung like a beacon around her neck. Moana began to cry softly, her body shaking as the tears streamed freely down her cheeks.
"I need you." She whispered to the ocean, her voice soft as she begged for some way to escape the crushing defeat that weighed heavily on her shoulders.

Her hand rose to her necklace, wrapping around the reflective blue. The heart of Te Fiti's glow had gone out and Moana felt as if her hope had gone out with it.

"The heart of Te Fiti is able to grant life." She sighed softly, turning to look out over the sea. "Te Fiti is the mother island and she granted life to all the islands. Many sought the heart but it was Maui… who stole it. He tried to flee but he was faced with TaKa' who struck him down. Without her heart, darkness began to spread, consuming island after island."
Moana paused and inhaled. "It's said that someone will find Maui, sail across the sea and return the heart. The ocean… choose me."

"Hopefully it's still waiting for you to do it then."

"I..." She looked down at the tide.
"I hope so..." Moana was trying not to cry. She wanted to be strong but she felt so broken up inside.

"You know what? Emma had a job to do too. She's the savior. It's her job to give everyone their happy endings." Which hopefully will mean also seeing to her own happy ending. "Even when she's not in town, this job is still waiting for her. It doesn't go away just because she's not there. If it's what you're meant to do, you'll do it. Someday. You'll do it."

She turned to look over at him, her dark eyes shining with the smallest thread of hope. "You think I will? That I can really do it?" That she could be the princess that her people needed, not just who her father wanted to be. Moana wanted to believe but she had nothing to assure her that it'll be alright.
Her friends were leaving one by one, the heart's light had gone out and her grandmother wasn't here.

She turned back to look at the ocean as the waves crashed over the sand. "The ocean choose me. When I was very young, I didn't realize it until I was older and that's when I knew that I had to go." It had been the hardest thing she's ever done.
Moana missed her island.

She reached forward, plucking a small shell that rolled in with the waves. "I don't know what to do."

"Will you tell me.. the story that you know? Please..."

She didn't believe in a lot of things. Luckily she was surrounded by patient people who helped her figure it out. "But Henry persisted, and he believed in her. That helped her believe in magic and curses, and herself."

Her fingers curled around her shell necklace. "Someone who always believed in her… the person who always believed in me is dead." She thought of her grandmother and the last word the woman had ever spoken to her, whispered like a command in her ear. Go, she had said and Moana had ran. She remembered that night clearly.
The ground fell away from her feet as she ran. She hadn’t taken more than a few seconds to pack up food and supplies. She had rushed, knowing that if she stopped and thought about it that she wouldn’t go. Her mother had caught her then and if it hadn’t been for her help… Moana might have never left her island. It had been the hardest day of her life. She remained brave, she kept trying, because she couldn’t let herself stop and look back.

"Perhaps at home. Someone here could believe in you."

"What do you mean?"

Her father never believed that the heart was real.

"If it's what you're meant to do, you'll do it."

"Thank you..." She paused. "I want to build a boat here." Her voice held more conviction this time.

"Right." She paused. "I'd like to sit here a little longer. I'm done crying." She looked up at Killian with a soft smile. "Promise. I just want to look out at the ocean."

end?
Moana lapped into silence, looking out at the ocean with all her dreams held warmly in her heart. She had hope now and she knew she wasn't alone.
