11 - Lost Heart [OPEN]

WHO: Moana
WHERE: 7I – Ocean
WHEN: August 3rd
OPEN TO: EVERYONE
WARNINGS: None

Sad Thoughts & Losses

Small earthquakes had begun to tremble through the two villages but Moana didn't pay them any attention. She crossed the breach and made her way towards the ocean that rested on the other side, hoping to find a friend waiting for her.

She stood at the shore, her feet bare while the wind tugged softly at her grass skirts. There was so much that Moana wanted to ask the ocean but she couldn't find her voice. She knew that it wouldn't reply to her, she was too far from the home that she knew. Frustration rose in her chest and she kicked at the water, sending thick droplets into the air around her.

"Why aren't you here!?" She yelled at the water before falling to her hands and knees. Everything hit her at once: the loss of her friends, the loss of the heart and the constant reminder of her failure that hung like a beacon around her neck. Moana began to cry softly, her body shaking as the tears streamed freely down her cheeks.

"I need you." She whispered to the ocean, her voice soft as she begged for some way to escape the crushing defeat that weighed heavily on her shoulders.

"Of course you can." Emma had had a hard time believing too, but he had always believed she could do it. He'd believed that more easily than he'd believed that he could get over Milah, until one day he had. "It's your job, right? It wouldn't have been given to you if you couldn't do it."

"The ocean must have chosen you for a reason. What do you suppose that reason was?" If it wasn't that she'd be able to do it. "As long as there's no time limit on what you're supposed to do, you'll manage it. Perhaps coming here was part of being able to do it what you're supposed to do."

"I wasn't there when Emma broke the curse, so I didn't see it myself, but I've heard the story." At this point, the whole town knows it, even those who didn't witness it directly. "She didn't know what she was doing either. She didn't even believe there was a curse, and that she was the one who would break it. Until she did know, and she broke the curse. When you need to know, you'll know."

"That was mostly it. She didn't believe in magic, or the curse, because she grew up in a land where they don't exist." A land like this one, in that respect. "She had given Henry up for adoption when he was born, and when he learned about the curse, and that she would be the one to break it, he went to find her. She stayed in town, but she didn't believe in the curse."

She didn't believe in a lot of things. Luckily she was surrounded by patient people who helped her figure it out. "But Henry persisted, and he believed in her. That helped her believe in magic and curses, and herself."

"Aye. He's a good lad." Despite having the Evil Queen as a mother. Although he has no problem admitting that Regina is that person no longer; he knows firsthand that villains can change their ways if they try.

"Perhaps at home. Someone here could believe in you."

"I mean that there might not be anyone at home who believes in you," he doesn't know, he's not from there, "but that maybe there's someone here who believes in you."

"Sure. Why would you lie about a thing like that?" He'd always believed in Emma too, that she could do what she needed to do. That she would figure it out somehow. With help, if she needs it.

"If it's what you're meant to do, you'll do it."

"I don't know nearly as much about building boats as I do about sailing them, but we should be able to come up with something passable. Something seaworthy enough to go along the coast, at least." So that they could explore from there, and maybe find a boundary and a way out.

"You will get no arguments from me. I enjoy looking at the ocean myself." Right now it's the closest he can get to sailing on it, so it will have to do. He'll manage.
