we all scream (but this time, for ice cream)

WHO: Ravi Chakrabarti
WHERE: Inn, near the Kitchen
WHEN: June 3rd
OPEN TO: All! Mingle post!
WARNINGS: n/a
STATUS: Open

There's another one of those strange boxes sitting on the porch of their home when Ravi gets up to another scorching, awful day. He's not sure what switch they hit to get this sort of weather, but he wants them to take it back, seeing as he's been sweating so much that he has to do laundry practically every day to cope with the ridiculousness of it. He can't go shirtless because he has absolutely no will to show everyone the out of shape disappointment that it his torso.

He bends to pick up the box and bring it inside, but hisses when his fingers contact something frosty cold at the bottom of the box. Opening it in a hurry, his eyes widen and he tugs the box to his chest as best as he can, taking off in a completely ungraceful run, heading straight for the inn and shouting as he goes. "Ice cream!" he says, like the world's skeeviest ice cream truck on legs, luring children in after him. "Ice cream, there's ice cream, it's going to melt," he warns, because there are six tubs of it, but he fears that in this heat, it's not going to last very long at all. Scientifically, he knows that it's just going to be calories that generate heat, but science can go take a backseat.

He unloads the toppings and the various six flavours (ranging from vanilla to chocolate, cookie dough, mint chocolate chip, butter pecan, and even a treasured cherry garcia), the sprinkles and peanuts going with the caramel and hot fudge sauces. He could weep because there are even serving spades, bowls, and spoons. He knows he ought to be wary about food after the whole chocolate poisoning incident (if it really was the chocolate), but it's just so hot and he's just so hungry.

He'll chance it, because if he doesn't, he just gets some delicious flavoured ice cream soup soon.

Beverly shrugs at his comment about unconventional combinations, her lips twisting a little as she takes her first small bite. "It's going to melt anyway, isn't it?" she points out. "Why waste it?"

Though maybe she should have waited for the butter pecan. She still thinks it'll all be melted puddles by the time she gets done.

"Or I might just want to save the ice cream from becoming a hot mess."

On the plus side, she isn't planning to get any spoonfuls that are half butter pecan and half mint? And it's not like she's got a huge amount, either. That has to count for something. Besides, if her stomach revolts, it'll be in the name of keeping cool.

"That was the plan," she agrees with amusement, dipping up a small spoonful. A teasing smirk crosses her face as she adds, "Shall I leave before your head bursts from it?"

Her laugh is light at first and then turns a little more full at his line of questioning. It's amusing to her that he chooses the inquiries that he does, ones that are important, but then goes on to question her about the strangest types. It amuses her, trying to follow him, and distracts her very well from what she misses most.

"We have ice cream, yes, but it's been a long time since I really had any," she answers wistfully. While she's been known to replicate ice cream at times, alongside Deanna, there's quite a difference between replicated anything and the real deal. Not that she's keen on mentioning replicators. That sits well outside her comfort zone as far as bending the Prime Directive goes.

"It doesn't float unless you pour a drink over it, but it looks and tastes like ice cream. Of course there are other types of desserts. We get to experience a wide variety of things on our travels."

Ravi has a habit of asking just the wrong questions to make it easy on her. Beverly's lips curl and though she doesn't directly answer the question, what she says is answer enough. "My future is doing just fine. We have plenty of desserts that we've been introduced to by other cultures in our explorations. We're just fine, Ravi. Though, if it will make you feel better, I'll what I can do to suggest floating ice cream. I'm sure someone will have ideas."

"You're just going to call me a futuristic heathen from now on, aren't you?" she teases as she finishes eating the butter pecan first. Why be normal, though? Besides, it's not like this ice cream is going to last and maybe she wanted to try out other flavors before it all became a puddle. She's not the chocolate person that Deanna is anyway.

Beverly has a feeling that Ravi would like the technological aspect, even if ice cream isn't as sacred. Her lips twist with amusement as she shows him the bowl and the fact that one kind is completely gone and she hasn't taken any bites of the other. No mixing here.

"I'll consider myself honored," she teases warmly. "At least it seems to be a good bonding experience. All this ice cream in the sweltering heat is good for the soul."
