CLOSED TO PEGGY

Sharon would by no means call herself a coward. She was the furthest thing from it actually, in most cases she was the one at the front of the line, willing if not able to contribute, to do whatever is needed to achieve her goals. This is different, however, this is Peggy and it honestly scares the crap out of Sharon to tell her great Aunt the truth.

She knows that is stupid and asinine, but the part of her that watched her Aunt die, is scared that Peggy won’t believe her, after all, she did come across looking like a crazy person when they first met. Sharon didn’t blame her actually because she was in such shock that Peggy was alive and well, never mind standing in front of her introducing herself. It wasn’t one of Sharon’s finest moments, which is why she know stands in front of her door, raising her hand and knocking.

CLOSED TO STEVE

Sharon was on her way to the inn, the snow blowing in her face. She had her head down and her hands tucked deeply into her pockets. Her plan today was to track down Steve Rogers or die trying. She had heard rumblings that he was around, but she had yet to talk to him. She hadn’t sought him out, and they somehow kept missing each other. There was also the awkwardness of Aunt Peggy being here to contend with as well.

She figured Steve had to have a place here, but the Inn seemed to be her best bet. A gust of wind blew through, knocking her back a few steps.

“Seriously?”

It's as good a place as any to try to find him. He's not living at the inn, but he's there probably more than he's ever at the house he shares with Sam. It's a gathering place, an easier way to get warm quickly than building your own fire and waiting for it to heat a room, and Natasha and now Bucky are both staying there.

She won't have any luck in that direction, though, at least at the moment. Namely because Steve's out in the same weather she is, on the same road, a few steps behind her when the wind blows through. The truth is they haven't somehow been missing each other; he knows exactly how, because he's been avoiding her. You might even say he doesn't especially want to see her, but once he'd realized she was on the road several feet ahead of him he was neither so cowardly or angry with her to turn tail and run. So he'd caught up to her instead, in time to shoot out his hand and catch her by the elbow so she doesn't slip on the ice below their feet.

"Stealthy," he says, just over the wind, brows raised slightly and his breath fogging the air with the word. He drops his hand again, puts it back into his pocket.

He's about to retort that she clearly needs to be stealthy enough not to fall on her backside, but she cuts him off with that revelation. He's taken aback by it, the air curling coldly into his lungs on an inhale instead before he presses his lips together. It doesn't do much to slow the unpleasant thumping of his heart in his chest, and he stares at her profile, the way she hadn't even looked at him as she'd said it.

"There's a lot of things that could mean," he says, finally.
