The weather outside is frightful

WHEN: 11/22-23rd
OPEN TO: Peggy and Steve
WARNINGS: none that I can think of, but will update if needed
STATUS: (Closed)
CLOSED TO PEGGY
Sharon would by no means call herself a coward. She was the furthest thing from it actually, in most cases she was the one at the front of the line, willing if not able to contribute, to do whatever is needed to achieve her goals. This is different, however, this is Peggy and it honestly scares the crap out of Sharon to tell her great Aunt the truth.
She knows that is stupid and asinine, but the part of her that watched her Aunt die, is scared that Peggy won’t believe her, after all, she did come across looking like a crazy person when they first met. Sharon didn’t blame her actually because she was in such shock that Peggy was alive and well, never mind standing in front of her introducing herself. It wasn’t one of Sharon’s finest moments, which is why she know stands in front of her door, raising her hand and knocking.
CLOSED TO STEVE
Sharon was on her way to the inn, the snow blowing in her face. She had her head down and her hands tucked deeply into her pockets. Her plan today was to track down Steve Rogers or die trying. She had heard rumblings that he was around, but she had yet to talk to him. She hadn’t sought him out, and they somehow kept missing each other. There was also the awkwardness of Aunt Peggy being here to contend with as well.
She figured Steve had to have a place here, but the Inn seemed to be her best bet. A gust of wind blew through, knocking her back a few steps.
“Seriously?”

“Seriously?”

"Hello," she says, aiming to keep friendly as she's been given no reason to be anything but warm and polite to her, even if she's not sure why the visit. "Can I help you?"
no subject
"Do you think I could come in?" She asked. "I promise I'll explain."
no subject
Gone and back, she supposes, though hardly the same man.
no subject
"Wait, Bucky's here? Has Steve seen him yet?" Sharon asked and then gaped, because she should probably back up. "You might need to sit, but I have something to tell you, and you taught me to be direct. She took a breath. "My name is Sharon Carter, and I am your great-niece."

She stares at her, reaching behind her to find her balance when she feels like it's spinning away from her. Peggy's apparently had enough time to teach her things, but right now, she can't even focus on that. Michael, she thinks, her brother taken too soon from her. "How old are you? When were you born?" she blurts out, feeling decidedly graceless.

"Let me get you some water," Sharon said rushing from the room, giving herself a chance to regroup too, returning quickly, crouching down in front of her, holding the glass out. "I'm 29," She said smiling slightly. "My parents were killed when I was young, and well.... you took me in. How old are you now?"
no subject
Just as soon as she's coming to grips with things, sipping the water, another strange thing bubbles before her. She nearly chokes on the water as she lets out a dark laugh. "You're older than me," Peggy says. "I'm only twenty-six."
no subject
She sighed softly, looking at her Aunt.
"I'm sorry. I should have done this better. Not, blurt it out like that," She said. "I thought you looked young," She replied with a smile. "You showed me pictures you know?"
no subject
Peggy is still banking on getting out of here, after all, and she doesn't want to muck it all up. "I wouldn't want to change anything for you."
no subject
She won't have any luck in that direction, though, at least at the moment. Namely because Steve's out in the same weather she is, on the same road, a few steps behind her when the wind blows through. The truth is they haven't somehow been missing each other; he knows exactly how, because he's been avoiding her. You might even say he doesn't especially want to see her, but once he'd realized she was on the road several feet ahead of him he was neither so cowardly or angry with her to turn tail and run. So he'd caught up to her instead, in time to shoot out his hand and catch her by the elbow so she doesn't slip on the ice below their feet.
"Stealthy," he says, just over the wind, brows raised slightly and his breath fogging the air with the word. He drops his hand again, puts it back into his pocket.
no subject
"Is there some reason I need to be stealthy Steve?" She asked, over the wind as well. She glanced at him and let her eyes sweep over him briefly before turning them towards the road. "I told Aunt Peggy, just so you know."
no subject
"There's a lot of things that could mean," he says, finally.
no subject
"I have to ask though.... what did you think I was talking about?"
