OPEN TO: residents of house six, assorted cr of Kamala and the other house six residents - basically everyone who knows Kamala, Frank, and Jessica and is on good terms with them. It's basically everyone.
WARNINGS: Possible mentions of horror settings or past trauma since Kamala does live with Frank Castle and Jessica Jones who are their own warning. Honestly this is a rated G birthday log.

She wakes up super stoked to be alive. It's not unusual for her honestly. Kamala is more excited than usual if only because it's not every day you get superheroes coming over for your birthday. Granted she's seeing them more as ordinary people who do incredible things sometimes. That's a positive change as far as she's concerned. It doesn't change the fact that Kamala from like age seven and up would have seen this as a dream come true. Who is she to question the wisdom of tiny Kamala?

She spends a decent portion of the day (following breakfast) getting ready for guests. She styles her new, shorter hair cut as elegantly as she can, dresses in the hunter green dress and pants outfit given to her by the Observers because screw them it's pretty and they can't ruin it with what they pulled after.

By the time she finishes, it's time to greet guests and see what Frank's done with the rest of the house while she's been hiding out in her room to obsess over her appearance. She'll go around greeting whoever shows up, shoving food at them, and generally be grateful they came. It's her seventeenth birthday. She's away from her home, childhood friends, and family. Having anyone here today means a lot more than she lets on. It's about the only thing allowing her to feel happiness instead dwelling on what she's missing.

[ Thank god she's using her inside scream. Jess scans the room anyway, awkwardly shrugging off anyone's momentary attention. It distracts her from Kamala's clearly telegraphed attack -- erm, affection, with Jess stumbling back from the brunt of her joy. Heel planted, she hesitates before stiltedly returning the hug. ]

I left a box of bars on your bed, too. [ It was too much to wrap and Jess didn't want any party guests getting ideas. ] Don't feel like you have to share it.

[Kamala pulls away to look at her like she just announced Christmas early.] Did you really?! Because that's actually really smart.

[She would totally cave and share since believe it or not she's the mature Khan child.]

[ Jess shrugs, letting her arms fall back to her sides in the same gesture. She smiles sheepishly, though she's reasonably sure she warned Kamala in the past about how bad she is at hugging. ]

It seemed like something you would do. I didn't mess with anything while I was in there.

[Kamala has to snort at that. Sure, Jessica Jones is like an investigator and stuff, but she trusts her not to snoop on her. She knows she's the easiest read ever.] Yeah, I don't think you're reading my journal or stealing my favorite shirt, Jess.

Thanks for the trust. I know how much my room meant to me when I was a teenager.

[ as a dog brushes her leg in wandering up to them, it occurs to Jess, ] Don't leave it around. Or it'll look like I poisoned these guys on purpose. [ and framed Kamala for the job, damn if it isn't a good plan. ]

[Kamala clutches the chocolate bar closer to her chest. She loves their fur babies, but does she trust them? Not even a little.] Oh good point. They're all super sneaky and people used to blame stuff on you a lot.

[She gives the dog a firm look!!!] I am going to go hide these in my room. Catch you later?

[ Uh... Jess glances from Kamala to the dog, unsure whom she's addressing. In case it's the dog, Jess simply nods rather than vocalize a "yes". Unpausing her wine progress, she resumes drinking at double the recommended social speed. For Jess it's a return to her default setting. ]
