New stuff brewing

WHO: The Iron Bull
WHERE: All around the village, Network, Schoolhouse
WHEN: October
OPEN TO: OTA, Starter for Phryne
WARNINGS: None so far will add more as they come

[Scoolhouse, OTA]
It was the idea of the wine book that had sent him here looking. Mostly for a book about brewing beer. There had to be that sort of information after all and a place like this was in desperate need of some good beer. So he makes his way to the schoolhouse and starts poking through the books in there. Eventually, he finds the book he is after as well as a few more and he settles down to read, making a few lists of what he'll need if he is to make beer.

[Network, OTA]
Does anyone have a big pot or two I could borrow, or know where I could get one made? And maybe some buckets or barrels. I am making beer.
[Then a little later]
I borrowed the book on beer brewing from the schoolhouse. It is at my place.

[Great minds for Phryne]
He doesn't expect to have anyone else in his head so at first, his thoughts are unfiltered as he heads back through the village. Storing the beer, could use the house, should be warm enough for it. - Who is that? Are they a danger? Oh wait, it's just them. All right, not a threat then.

"There are apparently plenty of things here that might want to kill us, so we should probably avoid killing ourselves with poison. Even for a good cause." Bruce flickers a smile to show he's joking, because his tone doesn't usually give much away, it can be a little too dry. "There may be a list somewhere about plant details already collected. I'm not sure if they have been shared anywhere public."

He shrugs. "I didn't think so, but I actually was just proven wrong in my world. Before I came here, one of my friends teleported into a battle with a walking tree. But Alec's from another part of the multiverse."

"I'm not surprised to hear that, you look like you could handle a lot." He is quite impressive, there's no doubt about that. Bruce has a sneaking suspicion the Hulk would really like him. Or just like having someone around as big as he is. Hard to say. It didn't matter though, not here.

"Oh, it's a concept that's been thrown around in our world for a long while now. The multiverse is the theory that there are many universes all existing at the same time, but possibly in different timelines and different planes of existence. On earth it's only focused on humanity, all the parallel or alternative universes that could exist where humanity still lives, but honestly, this place feeds more into a general 'anything goes' principle of multiple universes." Bruce used to love the multiverse as a concept, and now it was so very real. "And all the universes are connected in some way, which is why your world and mine and this one can all exist at the same time."

"So your people are called Qunari?" Obviously it's not a race or a term known on Earth, so he wasn't certain. A whole group of them must be very impressive. "Can I ask what that line of work is, or is that an intrusive question?" It's hard to tell with some people. Not everyone's open, and he respects that.s

His eyes light up with curiosity. "That's interesting. We've never been sure of an afterlife or if spirits are real. In the theory of the multiverse, there would be a world like ours that does have one. Or a version of a world where both of ours exists in the same galaxy. It's a vague generalized theory, but one that definitely seems real now that we're in this situation. I've always liked to think that there's an infinite amount of things we don't understand about the universe."

"Wow." The thing is, it's hard to picture someone like him being a spy, because spies in Bruce's world spent so much energy trying not to stand out or masked all their thoughts. Bull seems warm and open, and yes it could be deceptive, but he's not sure. But he can see that another world's spies aren't going to look like his. "This must be peaceful in comparison. I mean, for now. I guess it sometimes can get pretty dangerous too." He believes people when they say that, but so far it seems tranquil. The calm before the storm, perhaps.

"Oh, so they're not ghosts, they're their own species." Interesting! "When you say spirit it can be referring to dead people who haven't moved on in our world. Or so the theory goes. No one has proven they're real."

"The Avengers kind of tried to do that, I think. People knew some of the things we did, but not all of them. The intentions wre good at least." They just didn't stay that way. Unfortunately for everyone. "Nat and Clint were ... are ... spies and that is definitely what they aimed to do." So spy was the best term. SHIELD did that on a higher level. Outside of the whole HYDRA problem. For every good thought he had, there was a counter for how it went wrong, unfortunately.

"I would normally say we don't have magic, but turns out we do. Tony and I just met a pair of wizards." Bruce really did think he'd seen a lot of odd things so far, but wizards on earth that no one was aware of? That was new. "Our friend Thor had a magic hammer though, and he said science and magic were connected." Bruce isn't so sure he agrees, they feel very different to him, but it's impossible to argue with Thor.

"As a scientist it's hard to conflate the two, mostly because in many ways our culture defines magic as not real and ridiculous. I'd love to see anyone say that to the wizards we know though, they can literally teleport you anywhere they want by putting a portal under your feet." Bruce knows the latter from experience. He might have at some point been a scientist who mocked those things, but not anymore. "It's funny though, we try to convince people all the time that science is real even without solid evidence before their eyes, you'd think we would be more open minded for other seemingly impossible things."

He nods. "Fighting anyone who attacked us, really, but it had to be on a grander scale than what we expected from the police or the army. When you're fighting aliens that can fly and are bigger than this entire village, you kind of need metahumans to help out." Bruce wasn't so sure they should have meddled in other ways, but it was hard to know where the lines were. He knew it only got more questionable after Ultron. "Control mages?"
notsoangry: (awkward)

Bruce's eyebrows go way up at that explanation. He's of several minds about it, which isn't a surprise for someone who controls is own uncontrollable power (when it existed), but also gets anxious hearing any forces that try to control people with powers. "So some places mages are in control and everyone else is put down, and other places mages are controlled by Templars?" He is interested, even if it's bringing up some questions for him, because he's not going to apply his world issues to theirs.

"But who watches the Templars? Are there checks and balances across the board?" He knows a thing or two about how badly things can go when people in power are unchecked.

Bruce nods slowly and smiles faintly at Bull. It's a wise person who reflects on the place they come from honestly and can be critical even of the things they might care about. "A society that doesn't have several things it needs to fix doesn't exist, in my opinion. Some more than others."

Bruce has the book he wants to take next, tapping it into his open hand. "Thanks for talking. I really should get started on this one. If you need any help when you figure out the brewery, the Iron Bull." See, he meant it when he said he'd use the full title no matter what.

[ooc: figured we could wrap this and do a newer one soon! :)]
