[MINGLE] Wendi-go-go to the inn

WHERE: 6I Village and Inn
WHEN: 27-31 July
OPEN TO: ALL - Mingle
NOTES: The Wendigo threatening the village will be killed mid 28 July, with a Blue Lily, per these threads. Plot details here. Note: The final fight is close enough to be seen from the upstairs inn windows.
WARNINGS: Wendigo attack mingle, please warn in comment headers if discussing violence, gore, or related trauma. Possible mentions of character death.

The urgent warnings come from villagers returning south from the lake: a creature twice the size of a man, antlered and voracious. Larger than any they've seen on the plains, stalking its way to the main village. Some might have their own names for this hunger in a skin of shadow; others might remember that it was the first to claim a life, in their village's short history.

Whatever context one has for it, best to secure all pets and loved ones before it arrives. With weapons and food stores at the inn, the call goes out to gather — And to bring back any tools, because there's no telling what doors and windows can do to stop such a creature.

Bull does indeed get through doorways very carefully, but he has a few years of practice living in human-sized houses by now. Even so, he is more comfortable in a tent that is made for him or someone like him.

"A healer can be useful, but you have to be alive and conscious to be able to help. Unless you have some sort of magic that can help them while they are fighting, you should stay here. Or downstairs by the door since they might need a medic."

That's actually more logic than I'd expected, even if it doesn't make me feel any better for being up here, as a person who is virtually indestructible, when there are very fragile people I care about out risking their lives. I'm not a fighter, though, even if I have managed to get through a heck of a lot more than the average twenty-something zombie girl. Would I really get in the way trying to help?

I look back out the window, and then inside again, heaving a sigh. He's right. I can't believe I'm saying it, because I am literally getting advice from a guy who looks like Tim Curry from that Tom Cruise unicorn movie, but he's right.

"Where are you from?" I blurt, because I've gotta know. "Sub-question: Are there unicorns?"

"I am from Par Vollen." Which is most likely somewhere she's never heard of given the next question. "And yes, there are unicorns. You got bog unicorns and supposedly something just called unicorns. I am not sure anyone has ever seen one though." Bull is not entirely sure he believes in them but Dorian does and that is enough for him.

"Why?"

"You look like you come from a place with unicorns," I reply, not really knowing what to do with this knowledge now that I have it. "At least by the standards of where I come from, where we are 100% unicorn-less."

Also 100% giant-dudes-with-horns-less, but that somehow seems rude to mention.

Bull laughs. "Dragons are more common and gryphons. Or we had them. They are extinct now. And that is a pity. But I guess you don't have Qunari or elves or dwarves either then. Or dark spawn?"

"We have raging assholes?" I attempt, thinking here of Blaine and vaguely hoping this horny fella doesn't take the term literally. "But only elves and dwarves in stories, to the eternal chagrin of my roomie."

Which begs the question, does Ravi know this guy is here? Not that you could miss him.

"Everyone got those. Usually, the more money they have the worse it is." Bull shakes his head with a little smile. He's worked for plenty of them as a mercenary. "And trust me, according to the elves it is not that great."

"The grass is always greener, I guess," I allow, and find my gaze drifting back out to the lawn again. I get that Buff Tim Curry is right, I might only be a distraction if I went out there, but that doesn't stop me worrying.

"They have anything like that where you come from?" I ask, swinging my gaze back around to him, motioning out the window.

"We have things that look and act similar. Darkspawn. One particular kind looks a lot like these. They can be killed and the body should be burned afterwards according to the Grey Wardens."

I don't know who the Grey Wardens are, but that sounds like pretty sound advice to me, all things considered. I know better than anyone about the propensity of things to not stay dead.

"We should make sure we do that," I murmur. It doesn't for a moment occur to me that the thing will escape. They have to be able to kill it, right?

"We should, better that than to leave it." Bull shakes his head slightly.

"Alright, I am going to continue making sure people are safe, come find me downstairs if you need me."
