008 Who are you? [OPEN]

WHO: Wanda Maximoff
WHERE: All Over
WHEN: November 10th – 22th
OPEN TO: ALL
WARNINGS: Mentions of traumatic events.

At first it was small things. Wanda forgot names and faces of those she met in the village. Something would remind her again but each day was harder. Her memories had become unclear and it took a specific question or comment to pluck a memory into focus. After a few minutes into a conversation she'd remember someone but the memory would slip away a moment later. Then she started to forget events. How long had she been in the village? It was almost a year or was it a few months. The sun wasn't going down... the fireflies... drowning. Wanda was acting strange but managed to keep her thoughts and concerns to herself. It was only after the feast that everything got worse.

November 11th - 12th | House 20

That morning, Wanda couldn't remember where she was. She woke up in her room but it was unfamiliar to her. Panic jolted through her limbs as she scrambled to get dressed and pack a bag to take with her. She didn't know where she was going but she felt like she couldn't stay here. Wanda packed a change of clothes, a bottle of whiskey that she didn't remember steeling from the feast and some food. With her backpack slung over her shoulder she crept out of the room and down the hall towards the front area of the house.

Wanda wasn't aware that Clint lived there too or that he was out that morning. All she knew was that she had to get out of here, get somewhere safe. When she stepped onto the front porch she paused.

"Where am I?" She muttered the words to herself before fleeing out of the house and into the closest patch of trees.

November 13th - 16th | Forest

Surviving; that was what Wanda had to do. She moved through the forest, tracing her way back to town in order to swipe things from a few of the houses and inn. She could be found hunting or searching for a place to sleep in one of the broken or abandoned houses. There were flashes of memories now but they were fleeting, like sand shifting and falling through her fingers. Her memories had no context and it was starting to drive her crazy.

"I am an Avenger!" She shouted at the tree before punching it hard with her fist. Then the memory slipped away and Wanda felt a new kind of panic rise through her.

"Pietro? Where are you?" Her voice shook. There were hazy imagines. Her brother was shot, he needs her help, but then those images would be forgotten.

Her brother would never leave her side. Not like this. Where was he?

November 22nd | Inn Roof

Wanda didn't know what was going on anymore. She knew that she wasn't in Sokovia, despite the cold weather, but she couldn't remember anything else. Had Hydra done this?

A list of unanswered questions filtered through her head as she sat on the roof of the inn. She liked listening to the people bustling around below her, it made her feel a little less alone. Her memories were hazy and unclear and if she focused on something for too long it would be even harder to recall. She wanted to scream and yell but she didn't even know who to blame.

She popped the lid to the whiskey bottle she had stolen and drank. It wouldn't help but maybe for a few hours she'd be numb to the pain that was welling inside of her. It took a lot for Wanda to get drunk but she knew that this bottle would do it. She would also be sleeping on the roof for the night, nestled in the snow that had been left after the storm.

Wild Card

[ooc: If you want to interact with Wanda while she's experiencing any of the past events in 6i, you are welcome too. She's been around for awhile and can get stuck in remembering that something is happening when it isn't. These memories would happen before the 10th but I'm totally open to it.
Her tread tracker has the posts for those events if it interests you and you'd like ideas.

You are also welcome to tag at any point in the prompts.]

Perhaps she shouldn't be traipsing around the forest, but Bela didn't know what she would come across. Or who.

A shout catches her attention and she looks around, trying to locate the source. Bela doesn't move just yet, trying to decide if she should actually go and investigate to see what the hell was going on. She doesn't want to put herself in any unnecessary danger, but she also wants to have reassurance that she wasn't in harm's way.

With a sigh, Bela pulls her coat tight around her and turns in the direction of the shout, taking careful steps towards it. Some ten minutes later she comes across Wanda and stops, watching her for a moment.

"Everything all right?"

"I haven't seen anyone in this forest apart from you." She replied, her tone calm. Bela maintained her distance from Wanda, noticing the fist and the blood on her knuckles - did she hit something with her hand?

"Maybe he's in the village? If you tell me his name I could probably tell you if he is here or not, yeah?"

Giving Wanda the option to decide on what to do. If she wanted Bela to leave, she won't hesitate to make a swift exit. On the other hand, making sure that Wanda had no reason to inflict any lingering anger upon her was in Bela's best interests.

"Pietro." She spoke his name softly at first. "Pietro Maximoff." Her accent thickened, rolling over each word as if she had spoken the name hundreds of times.

Wanda didn't understand why he was gone. He would never leave her side without telling her where he was going. She was going to ask more when she suddenly paused and looked around. "What... forest is this?" She asked, realizing that she had no idea where she was.

"What village?" She didn't remember leaving Sokovia.

"The forest doesn't have a name and neither does this village." Bela replied, trying to place where Wanda was from. "We just call it 'The Village', I'm afraid."

No one had told Bela otherwise so she accepted it as the name for where they all lived.

"I'm sorry that I don't recognise anyone by that name either but I haven't been here very long so he could be someone I just haven't met yet." A pause. "I could point you in the direction of the village if you like?"
minus1twin: (I see.)

[personal profile] minus1twin 2017-11-26 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Wanda shook her head. "No. I know where it is." She had come from that direction though she still wasn't sure why she had woken up in a bed and a house that she didn't recognize.

"How long have you been here?"

She turned to face Bela more fully though she didn't relax. There were too many unknowns for Wanda to be comfortable.

Odd. Bela had assumed that Wanda was a new arrival and just gotten lost in the forest. She doesn't comment on the first part though, replying to Wanda's question instead.

"Over two weeks now. I know of others who have been around for about a year." They knew more than Bela. She'd be better off talking to them.

"What happened to your hand?"

Wanda had wandered from the village towards the woods a few hours before. She didn't remember much but she could recall the path that she had taken. The harder she held onto the memory the more she felt it slip between her fingers and fade.

What was going on? She had never forgotten things like that. Had she?

Her head turned to look over at Belle, as if she had only just realized that the other woman was there. Wanda looked down at her hand when prompted, running her opposite thumb over the cracked skin. It hurt but Wanda was used to pain. Her head turned towards the tree where she saw a few maroon colored spots on the tree.

"I punched the tree." Her voice was soft, spoke like she was reading the fact from a history book.

"What did the tree do to you?" Bela said, trying for humour here. Maybe it was the wrong approach so she added: "You were angry, yeah? That's why you punched it."

She looked at the tree and saw the blood, staring at it for a few moments. At least it wasn't a lot of blood, nothing to be really concerned about. Her gaze switched back to Wanda.

"Maybe you should get your hand looked at. In case of infection? I know there are a few doctors in the village."

"It will be fine." Her voice had lost a bit of its edge as she turned towards Bela. Wanda wasn't in the mood to joke but she understood what the other woman was doing. Maybe she was thankful or maybe she was just tired of being uncertain of her own memories.

Wanda paused.

"Where is here?" Her tongue brushed against her lower lip as she sagged against the tree.

"Afraid I can't answer that question. No one can." It's said with a frown. "I've no idea what country we're in, or what state. There are no signs to indicate where we are and everyone here has been taken from their home."

She pulled her coat around herself, trying to keep the chill out.

"I'm sorry that I'm unable to tell you anything different."

"I see." Wanda didn't know what was more alarming: the fact that no one knew where they were or that this woman was apologizing for it.

Wanda wanted someone to blame. She wanted to kick and scream and fight against the world that had so badly mistreated her. She wanted to find her brother, the one person who had always been there for her, and she wanted this all to happen right now. But you couldn't always get what you wanted and Wanda didn't want to blame this stranger.

"No... it's fine." She assured the woman in a soft voice.

She felt so lost.

"You shouldn't stay out here." Bela insisted, despite not knowing Wanda at all. "It can get rather cold and your hand still needs a looking at."

Leaving Wanda out on her own in the forest seemed cruel, and other villagers would probably want to help her. So Bela was only trying to emulate them.

"My name is Bela by the way. What's yours?"
minus1twin: (I see.)

[personal profile] minus1twin 2017-12-10 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Wanda hesitated. She didn't trust this person but she didn't know what else to do or where else to turn too.

"I'm Wanda Maximoff." Her lips curled as she turned and looked towards Bela. "I don't want to be around others. I'll be at one of the abandoned homes." She remembered them briefly from her flight from the village.

"I'll wrap up my hand." It'll be fine...

[personal profile] cleptes 2017-12-12 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It would seem that Wanda was standing her ground on this one. Maybe some more persuasion was required, but Bela was mindful of the cold weather and how little she cared about it. Even she wasn't prepared to stay out here for much longer.

"Hello, Wanda." A smile. "Your reluctance to not be around other people is actually something I understand. Because I feel the same way. However, there seems to be decent people in this place so you can always reconsider your decision."
minus1twin: (Turning)

[personal profile] minus1twin 2017-12-13 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Wanda glanced down at her hand before looking back up at Bela. She had no reason to believe her but she did need something to wrap up her hand with and it'd be faster if she had directions.

"Where would you suggest?" The town wasn't very big but Wanda had noticed more than a few significant landmarks of large or oddly shaped buildings.

"There are a few houses located on the outer part of the village, not central. I don't think they're occupied so no need to worry about people if you want to avoid them."

She's not great at reassurance. Bela knew that.

"I think we have a clinic too. Though I haven't been."

[personal profile] minus1twin 2017-12-19 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Wanda appreciated Bela's candor. She didn't need baseless reassurances but information and facts; knowing where she was and where she was going was enough.

"I'll find what I can."

As long as she washed the wound, Wanda was sure that she'd be fine.

She hesitated for a moment before nodding her head in a soft gesture, "thank you."
cleptes: ((1))

[personal profile] cleptes 2017-12-20 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Bela nodded in return. "You're welcome. I'm glad I was able to help in some way."

She could feel that it was her good deed done for the day, even if it was unintentional at first.

"Is there anything else you need to know?" Before they would part ways.

Wanda shook her head. "No. Thank you." She had more questions but they weren't as important as securing a place to stay.

Without hesitating Wanda turned and walked off towards the village.
