if the sky can crack [OTA mingle]

Hail had been falling for two days now, peppering the ground and shredding the grass but rather than melt away like a late spring storm it had only intensified, growing in diameter and moving from a mild annoyance to damned near deadly. As the storm raged, ice flew up through updrafts and was forced back to earth in the downdraft, accumulating layer after layer of murky debris until it went hurtling toward the earth with wicked accuracy.

Shingles were ripped from roofs, the wind howled and lightning cracked. The hail had driven both humans and animals into the safety of the indoors, to the dark corners of buildings that might withstand the assault. With only candlelight and the hushed voices of villagers to stave off fear and boredom, the storm raged like a sentient being heedless of those who might be caught in the path.

After the storm, a calm came over the land and weak sunlight glinted off smoke-tinged ice. Steam rose from the melt and humidity was thick in the air; petrichor hung heavy, a soothing scent after a savage display of natural fury.

[OOC: Your hail mingle post. Feel free to have characters on the run, gathering animals or inside the Town Hall waiting out the storm.]

Sansa was currently dashing through the crazy weather with her arms above her head when she heard the yelling. Slowing down, her eyes narrowed as she looked for the source and finally picked out the large man trying to herd all the animals in. Of course, she knew him. She could recognize him now even if he wasn't shirtless and complaining of it being terribly hot.

Turning a bit to look over her shoulder, she scanned the area for Raleigh until a particularly large piece of hail hit her shoulder and reminded her of the bad weather she was in. Biting back a yelp, she spurred herself into action as she rushed towards Thor to help him.

"Are there any more out here?" She called when she got close enough.

"No, these are the last of them, Lady Sansa," Thor shouted back. He moved to shield her with his body, not wanting her to be injured. "Run ahead. I will follow - just hold the door open for me and I can herd the goats in."

Thor took a quick glance at the sky, dark and cracking with thunder. It looked ominous - and a bad sign.

"Then I want you to run for the Town Hall as fast as you can, all right?"

"Be careful!" She ducked her head slightly when he moved to shield her with his body which wasn't such an impossible feat considering that he was actually quite a bit taller than she was. Still, she didn't want to see him hurt and so she tugged on his arm before he instructed her to run ahead.

Glancing warily at the sky, she nodded and only half heard the instruction to run to the Inn after because she was already dashing across to the door that he wanted her to hold open. Doing just that, she stepped to the side and pressed herself up against the wall as best she could so she wasn't in the way of the animals being herded in.

Thor quickly herded the animals in, using a little more force than he normally would and then once the last goat had gotten inside, he reached for Sansa's hand once more. If she were injured because she tried to aid him, he would never forgive himself.

"Come, Sansa, let me bring you to the hall so you'll be safe," he said, shouting over the wind and rain. He pulled her along with him, trying to shield her as best as he could.

Sansa figured that it was more than likely she would get injured anyway, so she would take a bit of pride in the fact that she had gotten hurt while helping him and saving the animals. Waiting for him to step out, she closed the door and pressed herself back against the wood while studying the sky.

"I've lost someone." She called at him, looking over the land in front of them. "Raleigh was right behind me somewhere when I came across you!"

"I will look for him," Thor assured her. "You have to get inside. I will not have you hurt because you're searching for someone else," he shouted, pushing her toward the Town Hall.

"Get indoors and I will find him. Do you trust me, Sansa?"

"But I don't want to see you hurt either!" She called back, reaching for his arm as she waged a small inner war with herself. She wanted to accept his offer to go looking for Raleigh but she was honest in not wanting to see harm come to him.

But then he posed the question of whether she trusted him or not and she found herself pausing before surprising herself with an answer. "Yes, I do."

"I will be fine," Thor assured her. "I will find your Raleigh and come back to you. Go ahead, get inside!"

He did not want Sansa to be hurt because she worried for the fate of her lover and he would find the man and bring him to Sansa as soon as he could. First, though, he needed for Sansa to heed his words and get inside so he did not have to worry himself with her safety.

"Okay." Sansa replied after a second or two of hesitation. She believed that if anyone could find Raleigh, it would be Thor but she would still worry for both of their safety until they showed up.

Ducking her head, she ran with him towards her own safety.

Once Thor had managed to get Sansa inside so that she could be safe, he resumed the hunt for her companion. He was tall for a man of Midgard, and also fair of hair, so finding him was no real issue. He stood out as much as anyone. There was, however, another man that favored him greatly here in the village so Thor hoped he'd found the right one.

Raleigh seemed to be busy helping to get others to safety, so Thor confirmed he was all right and that he'd be heading indoors later and went back to check on Sansa and pass along the news.

"I saw him, Sansa," Thor said, slightly flushed with the exertion. "He is helping some of the others but he'll be inside soon. He doesn't want you to worry."
