of vension and root pottage and fritters
WHO: Kate Kelly
WHERE: The Inn
WHEN: 7th November | Noon
OPEN TO: E V E R Y O N E
WARNINGS: N/A
STATUS: Open and onging!
Since that first lunch at the Inn, Kate Kelly has kept them up. Every day, without fail - even when she went missing and then was recovering, people continued in the kitchen to make sure the community gets their daily midday meal. She's proud of that, and she thinks she's allowed to be.
Today is no different.
The food is dropped off, the volunteers gather to chop and stir and cook and serve, the community gathers to eat, and then it is time to clean everything. If there is still no alcohol, well...
There's tea. And a coffee substitute made from chicory. And... Water.
So come on in, help at the kitchen or pull up a chair in the pub in front of the fire, and enjoy some warm food and company while the outside cold (and death) stays firmly outside.
[OOC: All sections are completely free for all! You can handwave your character helping out or thread it out, or just jump in to them eating. All characters are ICly invited, as they are every day.]

Mostly because she didn't know that many people yet.

"Trust me, it will go away soon enough. I felt the same when I came, and I couldn't speak the language. Everyone here is kind and well worth knowing." He pointed out to a couple people, first to Cougar. "That is my friend Carlos, he also is called Cougar by some, but something happened and he forgot himself. But, still very nice." Then to Kira. "She is Nerys. She is very strong and also kind. I promise you, you will know everyone quickly." He smiled a bit. "But, you have me, and your family." He figured the way Margaery was surely Sansa must be counted as her family.

Then she looked towards the woman that he was pointing out and this time her features were blank since she hadn't talked to her. Maybe in time she would but she had wanted to sit down and eat which was why she was sitting where she was now. "I know. Having you as well as my family certainly helps. I don't think I would be nearly so calm if I was on my own."

He nodded listening. He hadn't even pondered that. He had seen Vee first when he came through the water. Then he found Jo and everything was easier. "Best not to think about it. It would surely be hard, I would not wish that on any" realizing the subject was falling heavy he smiled again. "Otherwise how are you settling?"
no subject
Smiling instead, she nodded while glancing briefly at her food. "I am settling okay. It is a little too cold at night for my liking but I will get used to it again. It could get cold at my home in Winterfell. Nothing like....where I was."
There might have been a slight stumble to her words since she didn't like to bring up King's Landing.

"Next time I go hunting if I catch something larger, I can give you the pelt. Maybe it would do well for keeping you warm." While his mind tried to offer other ideas he didn't even let it show on his face, one thing he could be good at was keeping his thoughts from showing, though usually it was the darker ones he had to keep at bay. He tipped his head some. "Were you somewhere warm like Margaery?" He asked, not sure if it was a bad things to ask, but he was curious about the woman across from him.

"I would appreciate it if you did." She told him, her smile growing as she thought about what she could do with the pelts he gave her. She didn't go straight to making a cloak for herself, though, as she was already imagining what she could make for him first. Which made sense to her considering he would be the one going through the trouble of hunting and bringing a pelt back to her. Granted, he wouldn't be doing it specifically for her but that wasn't the point of her thought.
"I was actually in the same city as Margaery though I am not originally from there. As I said, my home was Winterfell which was a lot further north."

"It's no problem, it's cold and we must all be ready when the worst of it comes. I want to make sure of it. And I have enough for now. I will bring some for you next time I see you." he promised, deciding not to tell his roommates about this promise. He wasn't supposed to be doing things for free, but she was pretty and sweet... and most importantly, a Stark. One of Ned's. Even if he would never breath a word of it, he wanted to keep and eye on them.
"Yes, I know of Winterfell in the north, Margeary has told me of it." Other's had to but it was best to say her. "It seem's our worlds are alike in that way, my home is also in the north and known for its cold. My home is Iceland. It is an island though, I am told Winterfell is a vast land."

"She has?" She seemed briefly surprised before smiling again. "I told her a bit about it before, Jon or Robb must have told her some too."
She fell silent for a moment while he explained that their homes sounded a lot alike and she nodded, a wistful pain slicing through her. "It is. It is beautiful too or at least I can admit now that it is. All I wanted was to go back once I was away."
no subject
"Maybe so, she told me more about her warm flower filled home... The Reach?" He tried man, he tried. "Maybe so, she does seem close to your brothers." He spoke with a nod.
"I understand that." He admitted, reaching over for the half empty glass he had sat down taking a drink. "I had been away from home almost fifteen years. I had finally gotten home when I was pulled here. So long gone I forgot my mother's face." He took a drink of the water putting it down as he leaned his back against the wall so he could watch both her and everyone. He managed to smile while speaking. "We can go back to the past, no matter how much we wish it. It is a sad truth of life."
