I received two surprises today. Little Lynn on my shoulder, here, and an obscene amount of wine. So, I am declaring Girl's Night. 'Girl' is up to your interpretation. If you want to hang out and enjoy some wine, you'll be welcome. Just, BYOG; bring your own glass. House 53.

I was gifted with way too much wine for one person, and am throwing a little get together at my house. You're more than welcome to come, and I also wanted to know if you want me to set a bottle aside for you?

At The House

Anne has pulled out a selection of eight bottles and set them in the living room. She's stashed two for herself and the rest are in the kitchen just in case they somehow run through the first 6,000 millileters. She's not sure how much interest there will be or how many people will show up, but she's also aware that what she's got could be considered a hot commodity.

So why not barter with it, Anne? Why not trade it for favors, labor? She asks herself, but the answer is too bare and ready; I'm lonely. The idea of filling her house up for one night for something that's not related to survival, surrounding herself with friends, will make the truth she's facing a little easier to bear.

Hadn't those been the best Girl's Nights? Either sharing a celebration or gathering to commiserate? It's not something Anne did often - she wasn't usually the one organizing it - but with everything that's been happening lately, she'd felt she was in need of a little release and what a perfect sign it was to find the 'Crazy Single Cat Lady Starter Kit' on her doorstep. At least she can have a sense of humor about it.

She's got a dry red opened and a glass poured for herself as she waits for people to arrive.

"I like my pale, tender skin where it is," Foggy states. "I also generally don't drive. Walk or cabs for me." He still walks a lot, despite not being with Matt when he does it. It's a habit and it's some of the little exercise he gets in a work day.

"I'll stick to a well cut suit, thanks. Unless we start a theatre group, I might reconsider then."

"Well, being in New York that makes a lot of sense." Walking was the most convenient thing, if you weren't trying to get from one end of the city to the other.

"A theatre group ... I hadn't considered that." She gives him a slightly sicked grin, "How's your improv?"

"I improvised the opening statement for the defence in the biggest case of my career?"

He hadn't wanted to, but he had done it.

Anne's eyebrows peak, "Seriously? You're not just pulling my leg because I can't fact-check, are you?"

That would be one hell of a risk. Still, if his firm took down Fisk she doesn't entirely disbelieve him, either.

"So ... is that you volunteering as troup leader?"

Foggy shakes his head slowly. "I wasn't even meant to give the opening statement. My partner was meant to do the research and opening, but he didn't make it to court, so I had to do it."

Foggy never really saw himself as a leader. "Um, how about 'den mother'? Or is that Frank?"

"Wow. I hope he had a good reason, that's top level bullshitvto do to a partner."

At his suggestion, she stifles a laugh. "Den Mother. I like it. "

Foggy is quiet. He doesn't know why. Matt never told him explicitly. "He said he had a good reason. I believed him at the time."

It hadn't been. Not really. "I've been accused of mothering. I don't know how true that is."

The things one does for their trashfires. "From here? I'd have to say that, yes. It does sound like you're the mothering type. Not always a bad thing ... but, you might want to reconsider it in your professional life."

"Oh, professionally I'm pretty ruthless. That's different." He's proud of his ability to tear apart witnesses and shoddy cases if he has to.

"Oh, Honey, I wasn't talking about the clients." She gives him a look. Professional still applied to your business partners. At least, it had to her. "You have to take care of you, too."

Foggy drops his head back to look at the ceiling and avoid her gaze. She's right. He let Matt get away with a lot of shit. "I ended the partnership after the trial. Because he lied to me about why he was missing court." And because Matt had told him that his night job and Elektra would always come first. Not in those words. But it was what he had meant.

"I went to another firm. Big firm. Well paid. And... it's all kind of not relevant here, given no jobs and Matt needs me."

She purses her lips. She knows how that works, doesn't she? First few days here and she was already trying to make things easier for Eddie and Venom.

"I might be hypocritical if I try to give you anymore advice. Are you enjoying the wine?"

Matt's blind. In a way he's never been before and he needs Foggy like he's never needed him before. "Advice is always helpful, even if it is hypocritical. It's easier when you're not embroiled in it. And the wine's good, thanks."
