Jon had spent the last few weeks meeting with Ygritte in the woods. She wasn't the sort to want to live in a village, after all, because the Wildlings would never want to live in a town full of what they perceived as kneelers. As much as he might have thought about bringing Ygritte south to live at Winterfell someday in a misguided dream, he knew she'd never want to live there, not for true. She wouldn't ever be happy caged in like that.

How could she be happy caged in a place like this? So far as Jon could tell, there was no way out. He hadn't tested the boundaries of it fully, no, but what he had tested while hunting had yielded no results. He couldn't climb the ridge and he damned sure couldn't find a road that led anywhere other than that damned fountain. Now that the village had brought him both his brother and Ygritte, he had little desire to test it any longer. Westeros had nothing for him but pain and battles won only with great loss. The only thing he knew that he wanted, that he needed from Westeros was his sister.

Sansa weighed heavily on his mind these days and sometimes the guilt of enjoying himself with Ygritte pricked at him when he thought of how much his sister might need him now. Would she show? Would the next person to climb from the fountain be his flame-haired sister, clad in the same strange garments he'd been forced to wear along with everyone else in this place? He hoped so. He wanted Sansa to be here and safe more than his next breath.

He was lost in those thoughts when he heard a twig snap behind him and he turned slightly, spotting a different woman who'd been kissed by another fire. His lips curved up in a smile when he saw her and he looked back to the fire he'd been intending to build. After the sun set, it would grow cooler and they'd need the heat.

"You snuck up on me," he said, laughing a little. "You're good at that."

"There was." Ygritte was bold enough to say in words that were barely above a whisper. She couldn't help revel in the feel of his lips on her flesh while her palm smoothed across his waist and around to the muscular lines in his back. That heat began to grow again between her legs.

They had been together since she arrived, intimately. But this time felt far more.. well, there was simply no describing it. Circumstances had been what they were in their world. But here, they could love each other. Without reservation. Without threat. He could be hers completely. And she could be his.

There was nothing kept between them now.

Ygritte opened her eyes and hummed a soft, short note in agreement. "Our reason now is to do what we were supposed to do before. Live. Do ya remember when I told ya that?"

Honestly, she had to wonder. Now that Ygritte had been made to understand the way time worked in this mysterious place, she half wondered up until that moment if Jon had thought about her. Or whether he tried to force her from his mind. She knows what she would have done had it been him who died. But hearing his words and the way his touches and kisses were so affectionate gave her pause from any further thought on that subject.

She leaned in closer, only pulling back after the tender gesture to her forehead to give Jon a grin. "Ya didn't strike me the type to be all poetic." she teased quietly, letting a breath out against his lips as she caught them again in hers.

"But that's exactly what I want. Right here."

It was that truth that forced things as they happened. Before, she wouldn't have believed him. But plenty had happened since that proved that maybe Westeros wasn't the place where they could be together. Jon was destined to follow a path. Not her.

Yet, it hurt, in the end, that she couldn't be part of his life there. Here was a different story, however.

After the next kiss, Ygritte stared deeply into his eyes. "For as long as this place keeps us here? Will you be true to me and only me, Jon Snow?"

She needed to know. He had told her things before and he went back on them. He chose the Night's Watch over her. But could she really blame him? Yes, her stubborn soul could. Only her heart couldn't.

The rhetorical question got a mock look of disbelief from Ygritte, but a half smile returned to her lips as her eyes dropped to his, watching the way he said the words until Jon claimed her mouth in another kiss. This time it was as if nothing mattered except the two of them.

And really, nothing did.

"So are you telling me you want to live again, Snow?" she spoke breathless, fingers already beginning to cinch and gather the material of his shirt again, tugging it up to remove it. She needed him just as much, if not more.

Too much time had passed and for every fear Ygritte had in the moments before her death of whether he would forget her, the last several proved right then and there told her Jon didn't.

Or, simply wouldn't.

The words barely left his lips before Ygritte was pushing him back and kissing him again, hands making quick work of pushing his coat back over his shoulders. Sure, it was chilly but nothing that they weren't used to.

She wanted it, too; to be his, and him to be only be hers. Everything that was wouldn't be where they were now. Here.

And when all the air had left her lungs, she pulled back and opened her eyes to lose herself in his. "Then let us live." Ygritte told him, voice trembling while she slowly grabbed his shirt up and over his head.

Nothing really mattered in that moment. Only them. For whatever reason they were brought there, Ygritte was convinced it was because she deserved a second chance; a life where all the politics and reputations, all the differences and war were set aside for something she knew nothing about.

Happiness.

Her own hands moved to his face, cupping it to keep Jon as close as possible even despite the fact they couldn't get any closer without ridding themselves of the rest of the clothing they were; a problem Ygritte was quickly becoming annoyed with. That much was obvious when both hands then dropped between them and to the waist of his pants eagerly.
