[MINGLE] Worried/Sick 1: Symptoms Manifest & Reaction

Illness Presents and Putting Heads Together will have their own top-levels in this post, but you may make separate top-levels for whatever you like! Anything is welcome, as long as it tangentially relates to the Worried/Sick plot.

Please keep in mind the established plot details, but creative license is welcome and encouraged as long as it doesn't step on toes.

Shrugging out of the zebra slanket jacket she's wearing, Ashley moves to drape it over the woman, hoping to help the best she can.

"I'm sure you will be, but until then let me just make sure. Maybe we should get you to the hospital and have Beverly or someone have a look at you?"

At the very least if she's got the flu or something, they can get her rest and fluids.

Kat tries to push herself to her feet but the room spins and she's firmly planted back on the ground. The hard wooden flooring feels cool and good against her forehead as she struggles to keep her breaths even.

"I can't. I need to get back." Her reasoning is flimsy at best but she can't let the house remain empty, if it's empty then...

Then what?

Her thoughts slip through her fingers as she tries to take hold of them. "I- the room is spinning." Another shiver twists down Kat's frame. "What's happening?" This doesn't feel like anything she's experienced before.

"You need to rest," Ashley says, voice sharper and harder than, resisting the urge to grab the other person and physically restrain them. "There's an illness going around, and a lot of people are getting sick. You need something to drink and bed rest, and to stop risking hurting yourself," she says, trying to sound about her mom does when Ashley isn't listening either.

"Where do you need to get back to?" Fearing she will say somewhere not of this place, that she's not remembering where she is or how she got there. "If you need something, I can go get it. Once you're at the hospital."

"An illness?" Kat had been secluding herself since Vergil disappeared. She'd come to the inn to eat but that was it. A great deal of her time was spent outside of her home or inside with her plants and notes. "I didn't-"

She tried to push herself up and managed to rise to her elbows.

"Let's go to the hospital." Kat closed her eyes and shook her head. "It's nothing." At least nothing that couldn't wait a few days.

[connatural]

"A lot of those here have had it," she says, having tried to help out when she can with the ill. "I'm sure it'll pass quickly, but until then..." She nods then at the suggestion, agreeing with that idea.

"Brilliant idea," she says, moving in a bit closer. "Come on. I'll help you get over there, let them give you a look over. Can't hurt, right? Nothing and all."

She fights to stay sounding cheerful, lighthearted about it, and not sound as if she's frustrated and thinking that if she can just get her there it'll all be okay."

Kat didn't know what was wrong with her or if it was curable but she was determined to get better. She couldn't lose now, not against this place or a sickness, this couldn't be how things ended.

"Thank you."

She moved slower this time, pushing herself up on her palms and then rolling to her knees. She paused there and took a deep breath before pushing herself up and onto her heels. "I'm a little dizzy." Kat made it this far but she wasn't sure if she could stand.

Ashley hovers as Kat moves to her feet, staying close but not diving in to help her. She knows how it is, wanting to do it all yourself, but that doesn't mean she isn't going to try and be there for her.

"I hear that's going around," she says, trying to offer a tight smile. "Look, you mind if I help you a little? Just so no one gets pissed at me for not being there for you?"

Not like she needs it. Nope. Not at all.

She swallows and nods. "I could use some help." Kat had nothing against help but she hated feeling like this. She was helpless and weak and while she wasn't alone, she couldn't shake the knot of tension tightening in her chest.

"Thank you."

She reached for Ashley and used the other woman to pull herself to her feet.

[connatural]

Staying close, helping Kat get to her feet. Even then not moving away, moving to wrap an arm around here and hold her close.

"Come on. I'll get you to the hospital and we'll just make sure everything is okay." She's not sure it is okay but Ashley'll feel better once Kat is with medical professionals.

Kat leaned against her side and followed Ashley to the hospital. It wasn't an ideal situation but at least she was getting help. Hopefully this would pass without too much strife.
