There's no real rhyme or reason to the six of them that end up in the pod, and Peter figures if that's not a metaphor for life, he doesn't know what is — Most things are determined by the people who just happen to be around at the time. A little curiosity and the ability to swim is all it takes. One push of a button and they make a team, zooming off into the dark as they drip onto the pod's corrugated metal floor.

He lifted the light and watched as the lantern spilled over the console. Danny didn't know a lot about technology but he'd caught on fast after his return to New York. This wasn't anything like that. It looked like it might be getting power, or he hoped so, the lights weren't on in his part of the bunker but Stephanie had told him that there lights down here which meant that there was probably power.

He stared at the unit before pointing to one of the buttons that looked like it could be a power button. "Is it this one?"

If Danny had been alone, he probably would have just pressed it but since he had company, he decided to make it a mutual decision instead of just pressing it. If Owen wasn't sure either and didn't have any better ideas, then he was totally going to press it and see if he was correct.

Whatever it did, logically, it probably didn't close the doors and drop the ceiling on them. With the pod already broken, Owen assumes the worst it can do is make some kind of noise--and they were told the place seemed empty.

And if green wasn't some universal color for on and go, they'd have nowhere to really start.

"Press it and let's find out," he offers, gesturing for Danny to do the honors.

"Okay." Danny didn't need more than that to press the button. Nothing happened. So he pressed the button next to it and then the one above it. Eventually he found a correct button because the console flickered to life.

"Oh. That do it?"

He's just going to pretend that it'd been that first button.
