He's more comfortable by the water, where he knows the ways of fish, because he'd been raised to be a fisherman, like so many other people in Four. At least, he had been, before he became a Career. In turn, it's no surprise to encounter Katniss out here. He'd noticed it watching her in the Games, how at ease she seemed in the forest in the arena, how easily she moved in the terrain that often proved difficult for tributes -- at least those who weren't from Seven.

He's in a vulnerable position, crouched down with his hands full of flowers instead of weapons, but all Katniss does is approach and look at what he's doing.

"It looks like one," he says, offering her the flower, his other hand cradled around it to shield it. "I think. I haven't seen them here before."
