WHERE: In the snow!
WHEN: 15 January
OPEN TO: Everyone; starter for Kylo Ren
WARNINGS: None as of yet
outside the inn
Dressed in the hunter green scrubs she'd been given on arrival and covered in the dark purple winter cloak that she'd found in the closet upstairs, Rey came downstairs on the morning of the 15th with an avid curiosity. She wanted to see the snow that she'd heard being discussed. Snow that had come down in inches that she'd never seen quite like this. Ever. From the land of sand to the lush green... but never inches upon inches of snow.
Opening the door to the Inn, she was momentarily taken about the brightness of the white snow and her mouth dropped open slightly. Gingerly, she stepped forward, hearing the snow crunch under the boots she was wearing and she bent slightly to feel it, scooping it into her hand, then both, before tossing it into the air and laughing. Even as the cold air caught her cheeks, she didn't mind - this was all so new to her that she was going to revel in the sensations, then deal with consequences later.
Catching sight of someone else braving the cold, Rey gave a small wave but it was accompanied by a large smile.

After being outside for quite a while, Rey thought she might finally be ready to go inside and find something to keep her occupied that was slightly warmer in nature. That was until she saw a figure in black walking across the snow and the most delightful urge came over her.
Two steps took her behind a tree and, scooping snow into her gloved hands, she made the beginnings of a small snowball. Eyes on Kylo, she bent and added to it until it was approximately three inches across and then, when he was only a few feet away, she stepped from behind the tree, grinned at him, took aim, and let fly - the snowball aimed at the center of his chest.

"Really? Do they have a lot of snow on Jakku that you have experience pelting people with it like some kind of insolent child?" Ren knows it's a desert planet but he can't help the quip; he's trying to regain some dignity while brushing snow off his jacket.

Even wet sand can make hardened balls. Much harder than snow, really, and she lifts her hand to throw her second, not sure she'll actually hit him this time if he's paying attention. It'd been nice, really, to get the first one dead center, even if he was going to be grumpy about it.

Ren can see this one coming at least and he ducks just in time so it grazes his ear and neck. The snow is cold and wet - two things that serve to annoy him even more than this place does by default.
Not wanting to be outdone, he bends down and packs a snowball of his own but it falls apart as he tries to throw it - a completely ineffectual attempt at getting her back.
“This is hardly fair, Rey.”

A third is on its way as she finishes speaking and she's moving closer to him to do it, which may be a mistake or a great idea, depending on strategy. She's closer to make her aim better, but if he decides to put one together, it puts her in range as well. Still, she's grinning and laughing and having the time of her life, even if there's no real heat behind her attack. She just having fun in the snow, utterly childlike in her amazement.

He launches another at her, trying to aim for the center of her chest the way she had with her first. "Come on, then! If you want a fight, I'll win one."
no subject
"You'll never win this one, not with that aim." She continues scooping and lobbing, but with less accuracy, as she's trying for speed rather than accuracy.

He throws another snowball, cursing under his breath when it sails past her and doesn't find its mark.

By the time she's standing three feet from him, she has one last snowball in her hand, her cloak is blowing in the wind, she's flushed from the cold and the exertion, and her hair is flowing loosely around her face. She looks both delighted and a mess and she's clearly having the time of her life. Not a care in the world.
The threat is imminent and she laughs as she approaches slowly. "Surrender."
no subject
"How can I trust you?"
no subject
"Give me your complete and utter surrender and I give you my word that I'll cease fire," she tells him, still holding the snow ball at chest height, still out of immediate arm length.
no subject
"Fine. I surrender. What are the terms, then, of my complete and utter surrender? What do I have to forfeit to you?"
no subject
Dropping the snowball, it becomes evident that she's so stupidly happy at having gotten the better of him in something that it really doesn't matter. He said the words, she followed through on her promise, and that's good enough for her.
Rey moves even closer, pulling the dark purple cloak around her, smiling at him. When she stops in front of him, she's come up with an answer. "You have to admit you had a little fun."
no subject
"Fine. I did have fun for a little while. Does that satisfy your terms?"
no subject
It's pushing it, but he did surrender.
no subject
"I won't agree to those terms."
no subject
And since he was no fun any more, she sighs a little and turns, looking for someone else to pick on, giving Ren a quick smile before she starts to move away.
