003. i looked at all the trees and didn't know what to do.

WHO: Newt Scamander
WHERE: In the forest, the village, and at where Graves and Credence live.
WHEN: July 8 and onward.
OPEN TO: All with closed starters for Graves and Credence.
WARNINGS: None yet. Will update if necessary.

( open. ) the forest + the village.

It took something of an adventure, bringing Itiiti back to Moana in the village, to finally have Newt coming back willingly. He has considered the previous offer of a roof over his head by Percival after the hailstorm, and came to the conclusion that they will have far better chances of surviving whatever else this place might force on them together. No man is an island, after all.

Besides, he's far easier to find if he's in one place that isn't a constantly shifting forest, yes? He can stop by and see how Wanda is doing with the chicks, perhaps. Or maybe he'll even run into Finnick and Annie again. He wouldn't mind it so much. East should be healing well enough, but she might could do with a proper check-in.

Now that he's arrived, he can see the damage that is still being repaired from the earthquake. He'd been lucky. They all had, it seemed. Perhaps it was another thing he could offer a hand with. He should probably look into finding a place to put his things before getting too involved. Never mind that he looks rather ridiculous with his stoat, Devlin, perched on one shoulder to investigate, and his pack still strapped to his back.

( closed. ) graves.

Newt only has the pack on his back with some nuts and berries gathered, a couple of fish he caught earlier in the morning, and the pack on his back when he shows up on Graves' doorstep again. He didn't come to the decision to come here lightly. In fact, he'd quite ignored the insisting after the hail storm where he'd ended up with a mild injury. It was nothing, truly, just a cut and a bruise. He's gotten far worse from Dougal in the past.

But then the earthquake had happened, Credence had disappeared for a couple of days, and ---well, Newt could hardly justify refusing the other man's offer. Strength in numbers, and all. It's with that knowledge that he arrives on the doorstep to the house, pack strapped to his back, Devlin perched on a shoulder, and knocks.

While he has every intention of taking Percival up on his prior offer, they should talk first. Much has happened since they both arrived, but they've had very little chance to talk properly.

( closed. ) credence.

Newt comes to the door where Credence stays in the house, and knocks lightly on the door. It still feels quite odd and almost imposing to be here. He's never been very comfortable any social sphere, and much prefers to keep to himself. Or keep to his creatures. This place, it seems, has elected to force him out of his usual comfort zone.

While he may not like it, he is nothing if not adaptable.

Cautiously, he peeks in a little, not wanting to intrude. "Hello, Credence. Might I come in?"

Wanda’s home was at the edge of town, one of the closest to the forest’s edge. It had been a choice of safety and security, not from the environment but from the people who now occupied the town. It was true that they were all stuck together but the people here were mostly strangers. Clint was out which meant that it was up to Wanda to feed the chickens and let the dog out. The chickens now had a decently built coop to call home and a small section that had been cut off using strips of fabric and pieces of wood. It wasn’t perfect but Wanda was slowly fortifying the pen, more for the chickens safety than anything else.

The puppy was less of a concern. It had been Riza’s and had been trained not to wander too far away from the house. Wanda would let her run off and at a simple command, she’d return back to her side. The pup listened to Clint more than she listened to Wanda but Wanda didn’t have to worry about her running off or getting hurt.

When Newt neared the house he’d see that Wanda was favoring her right leg, having hurt her ankle during the earthquake. It didn’t hurt anymore but it was still healing and, per Beverly’s advice, she tried to stay off it. There was a small bucket at Wanda’s feet filled with chopped up roots and seeds that she had collected. It took a lot of time but it was for the chickens so it was worth it. She carefully feed them, made sure they had plenty of water to combat the heat and then turned to find the energetic puppy who was now running towards Newt.

A light smile tugged at her lips as she slowly walked to greet Newt. "Hey." Her accent was light and pleasant but it still made her words sound dense. "Are you moving?" She eyed his backpack before returning her gaze to his face. Wanda knew that Newt was living in the woods, she could only guess that the earthquake inspired him to come into town.
