the fountain. closed to star trek types.

The first thing Jim does when he kicks up, after finding himself suddenly (randomly) in the water, is to pull the backpack off of his shoulders and drag it up in a way that impedes his movements less. Breaking the water doesn't take him long after, and he sputters, coughing as his hair sticks wetly to his forehead. He treads water for a moment, catching his breath, and trying to ascertain if he's in any immediate danger from---wherever the hell he is.

Finding none, he heaves up the bag over the edge of the fountain he apparently just swam up out of, and grasps onto the edge to heave himself out with a groan. Despite the abrupt shift and change, he's alert, and grabs for the rucksack to drag it close again. He's already starting to look through it for what is of use, and also for anything that could be a weapon of any kind. Nothing. Wonderful. What he wouldn't give for a Kelvin pod right about now.

He finally gets his breath enough to take a look at what he's wearing, and immediately his face screws up. Red, seriously? He had enough of this from the Academy. Today is already starting off great.

"Wonderful," he mutters sarcastically, and reaches up to scrub a hand over his face.

around the village & at the inn.

The first night, if you can call it night with the sun still blaring overhead for no apparent reason other than it can in this place, he stays at the Inn. He tries to help where he's able to, feeling very much like an impostor, but only at first. It seems they are all in the same situation. He doesn't know how many people are from civilizations or time periods that are warp-capable, and so he keeps a lot of information to himself. Ship is a lot easier to go with than starship. The last thing he needs to worry about is the Prime Directive.

The next couple of days, he's acquainting himself with the village as well as he's able. Which means he's likely caught someone who could use an extra pair of hands with, well, anything.

"Hey," Jim says as he jogs up to the person with a grin. "Need a hand with that?"

He'll even go so far as to offer to share some of his water if he notices anyone out there for a while under that sun.

exploring the forest.

While there are definite drawbacks to the sun never setting, and staying stationary in the sky (nevermind the science behind that which shouldn't be possible in the least), there are also perks. Perks like exploring the forest and the far canyon for hours until he has to turn back. He's found himself forced back a time or two, but it hasn't really deterred him all that much. In the forest, it's a little easier to explore longer, as he is afforded the shade, and he makes sure to bring enough water with him as he goes along.

For the moment, he's finding out the boundaries here as well as he can, but he isn't yet pushing them. Feel free to tag along or stumble upon things.

She gives a grateful hum when he picks up the water, not wanting to go over the top and praise him when it might make it seem as though she's hardly capable of handling a little water, herself, on a good day. That's the trouble with all of this. Right now is not a very good day. She gestures for the house again, trying to downplay how much effort there is for her in this particular request. "It's just for there, my house," she says, because even this little bucket of water isn't enough, but it will help her clean the wound for today.

"Do you often go around running up to the aid of strangers?" Peggy wonders, not that she doesn't appreciate it, wholly.

Peggy nods her agreement when he asks where he should put it, gesturing to a space that will do her well. Truthfully, it would be best served in the bathroom, but she doesn't want to impose on the man. She also doesn't intend to invite a stranger into her bathroom the very first time they've met, either. "Well, I'm certain you'll find no shortage of people needing help here," she notes, seeing as she likes to have the shoe on the other foot for the most part.

As it is, she's already flailing a touch at being so helpless and while she does appreciate him pitching in to help out, the stubborn part of her keeps insisting that she should be able to manage without trouble. "I don't think you've been here long, have you? I would have noticed your face," she says, given that he does have a rather striking one (most to all of them do, which makes her wonder if there's a certain requirement for looks). "I'm Peggy," she introduces herself.

"Only a few days ago and you're already carrying water for strangers," Peggy remarks, giving him a mildly teasing look as she shakes his hand, feeling like she's falling back on the jokes in order to give herself an out from more serious topics that she doesn't want to linger on. She does make her way to the nearest wall to press her palm to it, leaning most of her weight against it to take it off the wound.

"I had to learn how to fish and provide for myself quite quickly," she says, to the requirements for help. "I never liked the idea of relying utterly on strangers," she has to admit. "Yet, here I am needing a bucket of water carried for me. I'll have to owe you," she insists quickly.
