It's fine that he doesn't. She doesn't really even register it. She was born and bred a bar girl and a hunter, and she'll go on being a bar girl and hunter until she dies, if she gets any say in it, and she is the only one who will ever get any say in it anymore, and that means it's easy to flirt like breathing, to smirk like the sunshine, and for it to never mean more than the seconds of air it was printed on.

Easy to wrap other reactions in the flash and shine of it, and leave only the smallest tendrils of truth.

Like her last words on that one, before she'd rolled them onward into the actuality of answer.



"It's not new for me." Jo tilted her head, as the river came finally into view and she nodded toward the direction onward, following along side it. Not much in the way of anything to record, but it was about everything now. "I mean," she corrected with a wave of her hand around her. "This place is. I came in first of the first wave, like only a minute before the next person. But this kind of situation isn't. I've been tangled up in them for a long time now."
