[closed] Obscurial Event: One unstoppable force; three unmovable objects

WHO: Kira
WHERE: The northeastern woods
WHEN: April 26, early morning and onward
OPEN TO: Credence, Newt, Tina
WARNINGS: Smoke monsters, possible references to Credence's canon abuse
STATUS: N/A

Kira crosses the bridge as the sun climbs above the trees, arms slung around himself, shoulders hunched under his red jacket.  The long night shows under his eyes, in the sinking and pallor of his cheeks, and maybe last night he became the one possessed.

He has to find Credence.  He's been through the western woods, shying from the sounds of other search parties but following every whine and wail, even if it only proved to be a hollow log or leaves whipped by the wind.  The cards led him north, then south, then back to the village, then--and he understands, that Credence has kept moving, that this isn't like one of his cousins hiding at their favorite playground or bodega in a sulk.  For all they know, Credence can fly over the walls in this form, might be completely beyond their reach.

But he kept going, refusing to dwell on the thought.  Credence can't be gone: Kira's heart beats with it, a hammer on the final nail.  He can't lose him too, not like this.  Credence and Casey don't have better lives to return to, and if one is dragged back to acid and ash, he won't let smoke claim the other.  "Credence," he calls again, forcing his tired legs to keep going, following the eastern bank north into the trees.

His voice is hoarse, not nearly loud enough to be heard from great distance.  He's worn it out, calling his friend's name, cursing the powers that be, and in the dark before dawn one desperate stage-whisper of Casey, just in case.

Nothing has answered, and he's put his cards away.  He's not going to stop until he has Credence in his sights, or he falls on his face.
