Rory usually doesn't pay attention to the passage of time like that, he knows some people mark the days in notebooks or on walls. He hadn't been motivated before, but now he has a reason to do so. He'll have to keep it from Amy, but he should have no problem just marking the days until then. He'd also need to start thinking of what else he could do for his wife.
