"Nothing above the canyon?" That's what she wants to know. "Nothing beyond it?" She hadn't considered the notion of a geographical feature that stretches so far that the eye can't see it, even from such a height. The trouble is that she doesn't know of a place like that, at least, not outside of some particularly desolate ranges, and none of them had 19th century villages in them, as far as she was aware.
