If anyone is Cupid in this relationship, it's obviously Cougar, and Jake doesn't want to examine that thought too closely for fear of stumbling across thoughts that are better left unexamined for his own peace of mind and the state of their friendship.

Cougar with little fluttery wings is a hilarious mental image, though.
